Hi Everyone! Just a quick hello! God I haven't been on the board for only one day and I've missed two pages and lots of new faces!!

Have been trying to stick to plan-well had chicken salad last night-so not exactly Stillmans but not too bad either-and it was so good! And at the airport I had an Atkins advantage bar-it was so tasty-like a brownie. I never had one before-I didn't even think we had any Atkins products here.We used to years ago at the height of its popularity.
Haven't weighed since Thursday morning(cos my parents don't have a scale!) but was holding at 147.2.
I laughed when I read you weighed before and after exercise, Emily-and I thought I was obbsessed!
Oh yeah and
my exercise has been nil since Thursday!
I'm typing on one of those small 7inch laptops and the keys are tiny so I can't type for long!
Good to see you guys are all keeping on plan-keep up the good work!!xx

Yay, IM2fat! Today is going to be a fab day also! I had one poached egg as a snack and then I put on my coat and made myself clear the center of the garage. I swept the center of the garage. 45 minutes later, I can move my car into the garage.

I'm done for now. I will rest for a bit. This afternoon, I am planning to go to Deer Creek and walk through the woods for a bit. Deer Creek is a nice nature park close to my home. The weather is bright and sunny.... it's chilly, but bearable!

I'm planning to have one can of tuna for lunch.

Wanting to join...have a few questions!

I love lowcarb and have been on again off again for several years. I have also done JUDD and lost well but I cannot introduce carbs and survive well.

I am thinking Stillmans might help me lose those last few pesky pounds. I really would love to lose the last 10-15 and keep them off. I know regular low carbin my calories are just too high! So......I want to try this plan.

I just have one problem...I am addicted to my coffee and can't stomach it without some kind of cream. Would I totally derail this loss if I used Sugar free or fat free cream for my coffee?

Ready to start

Hi msgirl!!! Im so glad you're hopping aboard! Coffee was my biggest concern before starting too. Loved me a big cup of cream with joe! I had to quit cream cold turkey though. The first day was rough, the second day was tough, but by the third day it was actually manageable...I would hate to see that fat free cream get int he way of you dropping 5-10 pounds your first week, but if you include it, I'm sure you will still have results.

On a side note, without the yummy cream, I don't drink nearly as much. Coffee to me now, is just a "wake me up" instead of delicious drink.

What's on the menu for today?

Good morning!
Its saturday isnt it! ..hhmmm. I have no real plans. Need to go to the grocery is all.
I think Im going to go up to the horses and groom.. maybe get to ride around the arena.
Cant wait... I sold my horse 3 years ago but my GF needs help with hers so I said.. ME ME ME!!

I wanted to comment about the bacon and such.
Im not doing strict stillmans.. I guess its modified for sure, but Im still losing.
I have regular bacon every morning. Now.. after years of doing this.. I have gotten to know my body and I lose best with taking in some fat. I also.. and this is BAD BAD.. have creamer in my coffee every morning. Its my thing I just have to have right now. Thought about cutting it out.. but you know.. If Im losing ... then I am happy. I use about 1 TB of SF hazelnut creamer in each cup.. and I drink 2 every morning.

If bacon or creamer is your concern with the diet.. maybe start slow. do what Im doing.. see if you can handle it and take it from there. If you arent losing .. then start omitting. Just depends if you want to do Stillmans by the book or if you want to tweak it for your lifestyle. Just my advice and opinion of course!
Of cours ei havent lost 53 pds like SOME people have... LOL!!!!! But Im ok with it.

Oh.. AL... your wish list is the same as mine! Skirt and high boots! LOVE THAT LOOK.
My friend say " you dress good tho.. you could wear that".
I suppose I "could" .. but I want to wait until I look HOT in it.. not fat ..LOL

This is good advice.. my thoughts come strictly from an all or nothing attitude. I can't consume anything pleasureable without overdoing it.. Hence, the Crystal Light obsession. Geese. Can I get through one day without mentioning the stuff!

Have a great time with the horses Sheri! Im so jealous!

Beth: OMG. .I hate TOM, too .. today was a total surprise! No symptoms. .no nothing and its almost a week early! The good news is. .I didn't gain an ounce so perhaps by next week, I'll be down something!!!???

It sounds like I have to visit the GAP soon so I can be in the mini skirt club. I may wait a few more weeks, though. . wouldn't want to scare anyone!

Dustin: too funny. . I am doing the exact same thing today. .cleaning the garage. The weather here is a very welcomed treat for November. .we usually have snow by this time so I'm taking full advantage of it. A walk in the park sounds like a nice reward tonight. . I'll put it on my agenda.

B - 2 Eggs, scrambled
L - Grilled ground sirloin
D - Pork or Chicken or maybe both. . cooking, cooking, cooking today!!
S - What else??? Turkey!!!!!! The new wonder drug. .

Dang it. .back to garage. .

GT.. Miss you. . have a safe trip and hurry home!

LV. .I hear you on the "modified" thing. . I do 90% stillmans. .10% Atkins depending on the day. Maybe that's why I haven't been nearly as successful as "someone who shall remain nameless" but, as you said, I'm OK with it. As long as that scale doesn't move up. .its bound to move down sooner or later. I am happy to trade off living for slightly slower weight loss.. (Of course. .it could speed up at any time ) I used to be an all or nothing girl . .but the longer it takes me. .the longer I WILL keep it off and I intend to keep it off this time!

Darn it. . stupid garage is calling me again. .Bye

Hey Everyone! I don't have much time...taking kids to soccer awards ceremony...but I got my Doctors Quick Inches Off Diet book today! It's awesome! It also contains ALL the info on the QWL diets so you don't need both books as well as variations of the QWL diet that are acceptable. A bunch of variation diets that are going to make my dieting MUCH better . On the variation diets you eat the same as QWL plan (these aren't the repitition diets) but you can add things.

QWL Vegetable Fruit Variety Diet- One cup of vegetables a day. They can be seasoned lightly and you can use catsup sparingly or a small quantity of vinegar.
You may substitute the veggies for one fruit. There is a big list of allowed fruits and veggies i'll post when I can!

QWL Skim Milk Variety Diet (my fav)
Eat the same as QWL. You many have one or two 6 ounce glasses a day of skim or buttermilk or one or two portions of unflavored yogurt. You may cook with the milk such as in your eggs to make them fluffy or add it to your coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You may use skim milk cheeses with this diet moderately but more liberally than with the basic QWL diet.

QWL Slice of Bread Variety Diet:
Add one slice of protein bread a day! You may spread artificially sweetened low cal jelly on it!!

There is a couple more but i really have to go! He recommends you do these for one week on...2 weeks off....or one week on...one week off!!!! YAY!
'
These are QWL Diet plans for losing weight not maintaining so you dont' have to worry about it being a maintenance diet...you will still lose according to the book!!

Have a good day and I'll try to post more when I can today. If you have questions let me know!

Still here....

Oh my goodness, I have this killer headache and cravings! I did not take that walk as I wanted to. It's 4:30 and it is getting dark. I am hoping tomorrow will be better! I'm going through sugar/carb/caffeine withdrawals!!

Perhaps I should go to bed early! But I am hoping that I did make a good start today. 45 mins of working out in garage, doing light work and sticking to the diet. I'm going to bathroom quite a bit more because of the water I've been drinking.

I'm back. Headache is better. I went ahead and had a snack of my 1/2 cut of cottage cheese. My headache became better after I finished. Boy, that low fat cottage cheese does not taste that good since I'm used to the heavier cottage cheese.

Emily, thank you for informing us about what you have learned from your copy of the book. Perhaps I should order my own copy if I can find it.

I am wishing everyone a good evening!

Hi Dustin. Sorry to hear about the headache! Glad its gone now. The same thing happened to me the first few days and I was in bed early every night! I was really cranky too. You're still being sweet in your posts so hopefully the mood monster wont strike! Job well done on your first day! Wishing you continued success!

Boy I dont know how you all can do it.. the dieting AND quitting caffeine!
btw.. you can get some caffeine pills to get you thru the headaches.. or does that defeat the purpose of not having it with the diet? I dont know actually..LOL

Having a rough personal day. Didnt get to the horses and instead sitting at home feeling sorry for myself with all the decisions Ive made and yet to make. Im emotionally drained. BIG BIG decisions and I dont know where to turn anymore.
So..Im not in a good place today to be a positive influence on the group.. I will check back in tomorrow.. wishing you all the best!!

Thanks for the advice everyone! Kind of nervous about this....but I know I can do it. I am glad I can modify what I need to and still see a loss. I am just tired of gaining and losing the same pound repeatedly!

I have started adding the water and getting rid of the diet coke so that's a start for me. Maybe coffee will be next... not sure! I am thinking if I can lose with the sugar free fat free cream maybe I will just keep it in...if not I will omit!

I too can be an all or nothing girl. When I eat badly.....I am really bad!!!!! But, I know how to be disciplined and Stillmans sounds like a plan for me.

I went to the store today and got my lowfat cottage cheese. I love the stuff so I am sure it will be a staple in my WOE!

I had some turkey today and am considering keeping it in...we will see.

Lvgal - I have had many of those emotional days! Hang in there...the sun will come out tomorrow!

Good morning everyone!

Today is day #2. I woke up at 5:00 am and to my surprise, I don't feel that groggy as I used to. I watched a movie and then went to the store to get turkey patties. I feel ready to kick off my day and it's only 7:00 am.

msgirl, I understand by your comment about eating badly.... I am the king! A couple of weeks ago, I had an entire bag of those glazed donuts I got at the corner gas station. Polished off the entire bag on the way home. Felt like crap afterward and beating myself up.

lvgal, I hope you will feel better soon! Don't let those decision and thoughts throw you off your progress!

aleriaaa, Thanks for your words. To be honest with you, I felt a little crabby earlier when I was driving to the store for my turkey patties. I was being a little impatient behind this slow driver who accelerates very slowly when the light changes. I do want to see your progress for week 18!

Wishing everyone a good morning!

Good morning!

Im off to the grocery... never made it yesterday. Im OUT of food. Daughter has requested lasagna for dinner tonite... I would make it with eggplant but last time I bought or attemtped to buy.. 1 eggplant from my grocer it was $7 bucks. Cant afford that.. ugh
So I will keep things aside for me. Need eggs and such as well....
Im also getting frutstrated with my slow progress. Been hovering at the 196-ish for 2 weeks or so.. I did go down to 195 finally... but man its hard when things go nice and steady then nothing much .... but..its still lower and I will take it. Ive also exercised more in the last 2 weeks then I did the whole time..LOL, maybe its water.

Dustin.. so glad to hear you woke up energized. Sounds like you really are ready for this change of lifestyle and eating habits. One day at a time.. focus on the prize !

Msgirl... thanks for the hug too! ... Good luck with your new journey. Looking at your stats you do not have a lot to lose so dont feel discouraged if you dont see the numbers others are seeing ok? btw.. you are about my height... you must look great already!
135 is my goal too.. ultimate goal but I havent been that since I was 15..LOL. I want wiggle room tho!

Good Morning everyone! How weird.. I must have not saved my last post. . can't seem to find it anywhere? Anyway, my last post was my two cents on the Caffeine intake. I know there are quite a few of us who just can't do without. I am re-reading my Atkins Advantage book because there is a lot to learn about this low carb lifestyle and because I realize I am going to have to add some healthy carbs back into my diet someday. . . I think many of us are on the Stillman's diet because Atkins just doesn't produce the same results. .(for me, it produced nothing. ) Anyway, his take on caffeine is that it can cause fluctuations in insulin and blood sugar levels which can stimulate your appetitie. For most people, that may take a lot but others can be more sensitive. If caffeine makes you hungry or jittery, avoid it in all forms. Even if you are not sensitive, he suggests only 2 servings per day. He also reminds us to take multimineral vitamins or supplements which includes calcium, magnesium and potassium, essential fatty acids - (Omega 3, 6), Fiber (flaxseed, psyllium). Another interesting section says: Chromium (200 micograms per day, can help people control cravings, and helps control blood sugar levels. It comes as Chromium Polynicotinate or Chromium Picolinate) . Just thought I'd throw that in there if anyone was wondering. . That's my lesson for the day

I did it. .Took the family and joined the community center today. We took the quick tour and I plan to go a few times during the coming week. I am not quite ready to take the plunge and wake up at 4:45 am. . but I am getting closer. .

If anyone is trying to dump the high carb foods or the processed stuff in your cabinets, why not try the local food pantry? Me and the boys are going to clean out my cabinets today and get rid of the fake diet foods I used to buy. .I've cleaned my clothes closets now its time to clean my cupboards . . Fiber One Cereal. . High Fiber Pop-tarts (I really thought those were diet foods?), Sweetened oatmeal, white rice, pasta, etc. . I'm sure they can use it this time of year. Will be less tempting for me. I'm slowly moving my kids towards healthier snacks and hope the between that and the community center, we can get healthy! I have some pretty hearty eaters!!. .

OK. .they are home. .I better pretend to be busy. .. toodles
