Hi Emily! Gosh you had a tough pregnancy-sorry. I always read that too-that the eliptical is easier on the joints. I would def hate a treadmill(hate running-never run!)I seriously don't know how you guys do it-cooking all that yumminess for everyone. I know I def wouldn't have the willpower-it would be a little bit here and a little bit there........!

Woohooo... 195 today! Yes!!! Im calling it.LOL

Emily... I have 2 places to be. I plan on pigging out on Turkey and hoping it fills me up enough to not be tempted too much by the stuffing and taters. I will most likely put a 1/4 cup of each on my plate tho and get the taste. If I dont... I will dwell on it and then just pick on bad things until it adds up to way more than if i wanted to begin with...If that makes sense.
Then i will be going to my BIL's house and having ham.. I will be full by then so I will be ok with a few bites of ham. Im also going to have a cocktail or 2... thats all it should take since I havent drank in a while now..LOL. That week and weekend.. I plan on doing at least 4 days of exercise.. the wii and the Jillian Michaels dvd. Thats the plan.

Oh ..and I did look on Craigslist for a machine.. I live on a small island so not much of a choice. In fact.. the First page actually went back to the first week of October...LOL. Oh well.. I have a great treadmill.. but its at my sisters house in Phoenix. Im in limbo right now...
Sorry to hear you had such a rough pregnancy.. that must have been sooo hard. but of course.... worth it in the end!

Weighed today-147.2-so slow! But the body-fat % keeps going down a tiny bit everyday so that's good! Was shopping today-bought things in H+M (have you guys got H+M in the U.S.-I think so?!)-anyway all in a size 10 here-(U.S. 6) . Feels so good-it so is the best motivator!! Was twice that size this time last year) But then had 2 sweets-bold friends-See I couldn't be cooking for people-I have very little willpower!!

hey guys:

What a day!! I spent the entire day on the phone fighting with my family. . gotta love them. . so glad they live far, far away. I have my babies and hubby right here so all is good! Anyway, I found out that arguing actually reduces one's caloric intake! I did not cheat and I did not drink and that is all good, Typically something that stressful would have pushed me over the edge! I think I'm growing accustomed to the new me and I like it. I will weigh in tomorrow. . as my contacts were too scratchy this morning to see anything. . .Congrats on the exercise everyone! I'm envious!

Going to give this a try

Hey everybody, Im semi new around here. I have been on a low carb diet for the past 4 weeks. I was losing well in the beginning, but only lost 1 pound the last 7 days (bummed). I am going to try to kick things up a notch and do Stillmans for a few days in a row and then cycle back to Low carb for a few days and so on.

I have been reading on here, and alot of you are doing this as well.......can anyone tell me what happens after a few days of Stillman's and then say going back to Atkins for awhile? Do you regain any of the weight? I just dont want to put myself through it if I am only going to regain it as soon as I go back to my regular low carb plan.

I have a planned cheat tonight and then I am starting the Stillman's. Tonight I am making Pizza on a low carb tortilla and for the first time in weeks, I am going to enjoy some beer. Bud Select has a new variety called Select 55. Only 55 calories and 1.9 carbs..................anyway, I plan to start Stillmans tomorrow. I bought a huge Turkey and it is thawing in my fridge now. Any thoughts or advice? I have got to get this weight off!!!!!! Im desperate!

Hey!

Well went and did the bloodwork and they said to come back in 2 weeks for the results.
2 weeks?? LOL . Had my usual bacon and eggs for breaky, just had a few meatballs for lunch... making the family chicken with cream of mushroom and stuffing. I will have some chicken and ...um, some chicken? LOL. Not sure,. I havent gotten my exercise in yet and the kids are home , I dont exercise in front of them tho... so we will see

Getting There... do you find good deals on turkey breasts or what? Where do you find them? IN my store a fresh turkey breast.. which is bone in is like $8-10 bucks.
I need to pick up acouple more turkeys in fact while on sale.

IM2... wow.. Ive had major family stress for the last week. I usually eat too. I say we are doing darn good staying on track with life difficulites and all.. good for you!

Lisa... Welcome! I hope this plans triggers some weight loss. Try to remember tho.. it comes in waves usually. I'll lose a few ounces or a pound for a few days .. then a few days with nothing.. but the main thing is that it adds up in the long run.
I cant answer your question about weight coming back with carb cycling but Im sure other can. My fear of all this IS getting to where I want to be and then the second I eat something other than a chicken... I will gain. I will cross that bridge when I come to it tho!

Hey everyone...quick question...I found this fabulous salad dressing that is 0 carbs, sugar, calories, gluten, cholesterol pretty much zero everything. It's also non-dairy. It's called Walden Farms and comes in flavors like Bacon Ranch, Ranch, and Thousand Island. Would this be "legal" since it's got none of the bad things in it? It's actually really really good for what it is.

hey em! While I was lurking about on the message boards, I've read mixed reviews about Waldens. Most of them were not overly positive but that doesn't mean you won't like it. Some of the fellow posters have said that Stillman's works best when everything is eaten plain. My feeling is that if it keeps you from cheating, use it~! I would; however, watch the serving size . .even though it is listed as zero. .zero plus zero doesn't always equal zero (an old WW quote. .). . I didn't like it enough to buy it twice.. .
Lv: Familes are so wonderful ((heavy sarcasm)) . . it is amazing that people who claim to love you so much can be so hateful!!! I just have to remember that it isn't all me and I don't have to put up with it any more! I'm back to doing for me and my "immediate" family. They do have to listen to me or I won't feed them. I'm biased but I am so happy I have boys. .so much less drama! Good for you on going to the DR, too! I've been avoiding it forever. .

Lisa: you have to remember (no matter how frustrating) that even a pound a week is wonderful. . Everyone loses at a different rate and the less you have to lose, the slower it usually comes off. There are many variables, too. . increased exercise can cause a temporary gain (muscle), a planned cheat can reflect water gain for a day or two - refer to earlier posts about refeeds . Stillman's will work if you follow it to a T and do not deviate . . most people can only follow the plan for a week or two. . Al has been the exception!!

BTW: Has anyone heard from Al? Yooowhoo, where are you, Al.. Come in. .

Getting there - glad to hear that you are in such a small size!!! Way to GO.

IM2FAT - I have a sister that I don't even talk to - because of all her drama and negativity.

Hello Emily...

Well I am sticking to the diet. No drinking or being bad (no sweets).

I am having a colonoscopy on Tuesday - so beginning Saturday, I will start a liquid diet. I'll be off the program at that point, but I figure I shouldn't be gaining weight drinking bullion and clear liquids. Oh, I can have frozen pops that are not purple or red.... My elimination system is super slow, so I have to start well in advance to make sure that my colon is totally clean on Tuesday.

I actually think that my slow system helps me hold onto weight. It takes a lot longer for food to pass through my system. It was probably beneficial to my ancestors back in famine times.

Well today is my last day at my current job. I start a new one on Monday and so I'll be happy for the change. The new job is closer to my house and I will have less of a commute and get up one hour later!!!

Thanksgiving - I intend to have turkey and honey baked ham. And I won't give you the details of my bad eating that day. I do intend to only eat bad for the one main meal and not eat turkey sandwiches all night (like I use to).

Have a great Thursday!!!

-Lynne

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! We've always had conflict but this time it is over the top! I'm 40 something years old and figured I don't have to put up with it anymore. So. .the further away I am from the situation, the better! She's the cute, thin one anyway so I am positive it stems from my extreme jealousy of her size 2 jeans! hahahaha. .

I hear you there! I give up on trying to speed mine up. .its just the way it is and I'll take whatever loss I can get. .I am sure my age has something to do with it too. .Hang in there.. You may actually lose something following the procedure. .I'd be surprised if you didn't. Congratulations for being proactive with your health!

I cant go make it yet because I dont want to wake up the house.. primarily my ex husband who is sleeping on the couch... LOL.. Long story short on that.. I moved back into our house because 1. it hasnt sold and 2. My kids are here. 3. Im unemployed
so ya.. thats a LOT OF FUN... NOT!
I probably need to go to the grocery store at some point. Running low on eggs.
Otherwise.. may try to do the Jillian M. dvd again. At least I havent been as sore the last 2 times Ive done it..so thats good.

I have been looking at some of your daily menus and although I totally believe in Low Carb diets and that they work well, I cant help but wonder................say you have 2 eggs for breakfast, turkey for lunch, and a lean hamburger patty for dinner (or 2)........I am estimating that to come out to around 650 calories...............this sounds like its just a low calorie diet to me............I mean, I would think you could eat anything you wanted as long as you didnt go over 650 calories and you would still be losing pretty rapidly. Any thoughts on this? I wonder how such a low calorie diet will affect metabolism......

Hey Sher!

WOW, that must suck! I'm having serious marital stuff happening right now as well. We are getting secerated and I'm very confussed. I want the pain to stop but divorce is such a hugh deal. Do you regret getting a divorce or is it better for everyone?

Sorry to get off the beaten path!

Hey Lisa!

I know what you mean by too low cal. I have a hard time losing wt at 600 cals I have finally figured that one out. I eat around 900-1000 a day and lose pretty good. On average I lose 2.5 a week. That is until I use Tylenol PM and gain 2.8 in a week!

I am hoping to get to goal by New Yrs. and then gradually incorp wt. training as well as a lot more calories, mostly in fat for mnts.

Give it a go and see how it works for you!

Hugs,
Beth

All of you sound like you are really ready for thanksgiving!! I'm going to stick to ham and turkey as well. I don't eat ham right now so it'll feel like i'm cheating a lot!

I have a question (suprise) When I weigh in the morning it's one thing and by night time i'm up 2 pounds. Why is that? Which weight is right?

Also....do you have to drink all of the water to lose the weight?

Em: O girl. .make sure to only weigh yourself first thing in the morning. (of course, after you toodle before you get dressed and definately before your shower!). . As a long time dieter. .you figure out every trick. . . Actually, you really should weigh yourself the same time every day to get as close to an actual weight . Most everyone does it in the morning because you are always lighter. I don't know the scientific nature behind it, but I am sure someone out there does. I can weigh up to 4 pounds from morning to night! Clothing, salt intake, water, exercise and your environment can all change the number on the scale.

Also, Water:
Endocrine-gland function improves.
Fluid retention is alleviated.
Liver functions improve, increasing the percentage of fat used for energy purposes.
Natural thirst returns.
Appetite decreases significantly.
Metabolic functions improve.
Nutrients are distributed throughout the body.
Body-temperature regulation improves.
Blood volume is maintained.

There are countless other reasons to get enough water. . but I happen to like the decreased appetite and the metabolic functions! I am also rather found of my Liver functions! LOL Hope that helps

I noted the conversation of calories and I've noticed that the most successful posters eat more. .I'm jumping off to consume my turkey breast!!! Toodles. .

Where O Where are all my fellow losers??? Come back. .come back. . I really can't do this by myself!!! I need all of you!

Yoohoo!! I'm back!!! Looks like the Fort held up very well while I was away! I can't believe I missed like 3 pages! So sorry!!!

First off...Welcome Emily and Lisa!! So glad you joined our team!!

I've been so busy with a house guest and came down with another cold, or two. The kids just won't stop bringing home the germs!

Weight has bounced around a bit this week.... 140, 139, 137, 139 ... I knew 137 was too good to be true...

I'm so tired I can't even remember what I ate. All meat all day...

OK. So, my two favorite subjects were brought up while I was away... Crystal Light and Turkey!!!

I personally, drink more Crystal Light than water. There were a few days here and there that I gave the CL up, but I never noticed a big change in the loss. Perhaps I could have done better without it, but, it makes me happy. (NOt as happy as wine though..)

Ah, Turkey. What more can I say? It's on sale finally, so that makes it all the more appealing! The turkey soup is really just broth from the bones and added meat.

After you roast it and separate the meat from the bones.... simmer the bones for a few hours, drain, cool off, place in fridge so fat rises, skim off fat, simmer again with seasonings of choice, and reduce for fuller flavor. Yum!

I second the suggestion to only weigh in the morning!!!!

Doesn't the water help flush out the toxic ketones?? Please be sure to get enough liquids in!!

Any thoughts on this? I wonder how such a low calorie diet will affect metabolism......
Hi Lisa! I don't count calories. (even though I promised Beth I would try) I know when I started, back in July I was used to eating a lot so I continued to eat a lot. I would have 2 chicken breasts at a sitting, or two porkchops, or 5 chicken legs. (Sometimes I include fatty meats) I lost a ton of weight eating like that. After doing this diet for a while, my portions have somewhat decreased.

I still like a full plate, I just use smaller ones now! I'm just not as hungry and the cravings aren't there. I still have days where I feel more hungry and add another meal though.. I had a pound and half of ground turkey between 4 and 7 last night.

I don't thibnk anyone is shooting for low calories, but some days probably do fall that way. Not good for everyday long term, of course, but as long as we eat when we;re hungry and enough to feel full, I think we'll be ok. It all evens out.

How are you doing by the way? The first couple days might be tough but we're here to motivate and help keep you on track!! Let us know!

It's actually really really good for what it is.
I would stay away from it and I don't trust the nutritional panel. I assure you the craving for it will go away. Keep it simple for faster results!
