Is anyone else drinkin out there? How does it effect your weight loss? Does the buzz come quicker?

I'm feelin' it after 1! Hubby called me a light-weight and it felt so good on so many levels.

Hope everyone is having a fun night!!

IM2- my son was peeking over my shoulder and spotted your avatar. He got all excited and said "the laughing cow mommy! the laughing cow!" (He's 4) He then proceed to tell his Dad I was watching the laughing cows on the computer. No wonder everyone thinks Im crazy.. I then had to explain that real cows can't smile like that...

O Al. .out of the mouth of babes!!! Gotta love it. I miss my kids being so young. It is really fun to mess with them at that age. .I'm mean, I know it. . but that's why I had kids. .heheheh

I will admit. .I've had a few Rum and Diet Cokes along the way. . Yes. .I definately feel the effects much quicker. In fact, I came home on Veteran's Day and Hubby was quite loaded (he's also doing low carb) . .and he had only had a few drinks. Both good and bad, I guess! ehehehe I am positive it will affect your outcome for the week, but you have to live, ya know? I say enjoy yourself and get on with it the next day!!! Yay.. Friday!!!!!

I ate very well today so I expect big things in the morning. If not, my scale is getting put in the fire pit along with all my size "L" undies!!!

Good saturday morning! We are having thunderstorms.. and I dont mind it a bit

Making a meatloaf for dinner but thinking it may not be very good with any sort of filler ie. bread or cracker crumbs... so not sure about that.
Yesterday had 2 eggs for breakfast, 1 hb egg for snack, steak for dinner and a bite of a brownie for dessert... LOL.. you heard right... a bite of a brownie. I just had to have it so I did... I knew if I just had a bite it would be over and I wouldnt sit and crave it anymore. Darn the kids for making those! LOL.
Today... eggs and some bacon so far... not sure what I will be doing for lunch yet.

Al... Im not drinking right now. Believe me..Ive thought about it and even thought about a night out.. but decided against it. I know drinking REALLY stalls me so trying not to go there unless its a special occassion.

Hi IVGAL!! How many days have you lasted so far on strict Stillmans? Just want you to know that after days 2-4, the cravings/appetite is virtually gone. I think others on here would agree. Just hate to see you having to redo the first few days because they are the worst! After the first week - you'll be golden! You probably already know this since youve been VLC. Hope I'm helping.

Al is so right. It's hard at first to commit to it, but once you do you won't even have the need for brownies. I have no cravings. In fact went over a friends last night and they ordered pizza and I just drank my trusty water bottle. Didn't even want to cheat.

I cheat too! I had chicken yesterday that was marinating in oil, vinegar, garlic powder and my fave "herbs de provence". I know oil is a no no, but dang it tasted good.

Hey..
Honestly.. I dont know what Im doing right now..LOL.
Im kinda in between doing VLC / zc and Stillmans. I dont really crave anything 99% of the time. The brownies came out of the oven and I just wanted a taste. Ive made them before and it didnt even phase me... but last night, I gave in to it.
I have been cheat free , very strict with my diet for 12 days so Im way over the hump...(Again.. meat and eggs for the most part. )...lots of water of course!
I think that when on such a bland and repetitive diet , the taste buds just would love something a little different.. for me anyhow. But.. back to basics today.

I was going to go work out but now the ex is in the LR ( long story).. and Im not going to do it front of anyone..LOL.
Its also flooding outside, so no walking for me.

Well thats a great start! I had a feeling you already knew the ropes! I agree with you. Very boring diet! My taste buds are so mad at me right now but I think Im going to give them a little treat on Thanksgiving. Im not after the stuffing, but perhaps a smidge of pumpkin pie.....ahhhh heaven (snapping out of my day dream)

So, do you guys think I should have a real cheat on TDay? What would you do if you were me?

Hmm.. good question.
Im not sure yet.

See.. i made a big thanksgiving dinner for my BF before I left AZ.. and I had some stuffing then ( i was officially off that wagon.. lol)... and I had a bisquit and some taters.
so Im really not craving or "wanting" to have that for a cheat.
soooo..
Im going to a friends house this year and its been requested that I make my popular bread pudding with amaretto sauce.
ya... wow. LOL>... like I make that and NOT have a bite or 2? So that may be my cheat for the day.
I think we still need to enjoy our holidays and lives and get back on track.
Besides.. maybe we will be tricking our bodies and make it happy .. giving us a woosh eventually!
thats my theory and Im sticking to it...LOL

For you...
Is there anything you feel like you would be missing terribly? Like a once a year thing.. Ie... pumpkin pie? Maybe you could even make one from scratch using splenda... or just have a sliver of a regular one just for that taste.

Right on, LVg! It's all about changing old habits! Eventually you won't want that bite, anyway. . I realize I feel worse after "unplanned" cheats, so,

today, I decided I am having a planned cheat. I got up this morning and made a huge salad with cucumbers, Steak, Ham and Cheese! It is the best ever (I really miss my veggies!) and I think that will keep me on track for the rest of the week. I skipped weigh in yesterday because I just wasn't feeling it. I think I'm better off letting myself believe my last weight for the time being. This has been a struggle for me so I'm waiting for a huge Whossshh. .I'm due already!

My darn kids had two huge bag of Doritos sitting on the table yesterday!! Those a little difficult to smell and not eat. .but I did not even have a grain. . In fact, there is still 1/2 bag sitting out there. I'm tempted to feed it to the dog! I am a really salty, crunchy snacker. .I could live on Popcorn if there was such a diet!~ Has anyone really researched how bad it is for you in terms of low carb? I used to eat it all the time on WW and was able to maintain. . just curious. I know someday I will want to eat it again.

Al: Ahhhhh, Man Candy!

Jenger: Great job on the pizza!

IM2... sounds like we are in the same boat... darn those kids! My son has a tuna sandwhich almost every day for lunch and some doritos.. I swear I was going to lick my fingers after serving him but I didnt..LOL
And now today... the kids made brownies.. AGAIN! This is the most snacky treats they have had all year!!! They go thru phases.
Boy... if having a salad is your big cheat...you cant beat that IMO!! Thats great.
I do have an issue to deal with tonite.....

I am making the family linguine in a clam sauce and this ridiculously yummy looking roasted garlic bread... its on a crusty bread that I LOOOVEEEE..
What am "I" going to eat!!??? And I have offered to cook this for them?? am I nuts!

I was stuck in town today ... so I had a chicken ceasar salad for lunch... well.. all day so far thats all Ive had.

I want their dinner ..

AL.. maybe you are up one pound for a big whoosh tomorrow!

Lvgal: I know how difficult it can be to cook (especially all the good stuff) and not taste test! I've just learned that I am so much better off by not even going down that road. I have a family dinner this weekend and I offered to cook the meal. I am going to the nearest chinese rest. (another weakness) and I am ordering several takeouts and I'm going to cheat and put them in my slow cooker, burn the wrappers and pretend I slaved all day!! Then, I intend to get a smoked turkey from the nearest deli and I'm going to cut up some sausage and cheese (put out crackers). I am going to stick to the protein (sausage, cheese, turkey) and let everyone else eat all those carbs and grin to myself.. I am so evil! Before they leave, I will divide what is left in takeout containers and send it home! I just keep reminding myself what a few carbs does to me. . I will probably be at a standstill due to my salad today but it was soooo worth it! It is amazing what you crave once your sugar/carb addiction is gone! I even made popcorn for the kiddies tonight and didn't have any. That's not to say I did not sniff and drool all over the bowl. .but I didn't eat any! I have no idea where my will power is coming from (I haven't had any in 40 errr. 20 years (lol) so I don't know why this time around it is any different. Something must have clicked. Naww. .I think it is all the support I get from ya'all!

I worked my hiney off this weekend so I deserve a gold star. .Those dust bunnies met their match. .Happy Monday to everyone. .ugggg. . I really hate Monday..

Hi Everyone!- O.k. weighed this morning-147.8--so at least the scale is moving in the right direction-have to say tho I hoped for more! And the inches are not coming off either-since the beginning of September I have only lost 2.5 inches off my hips and 1.5 off the waist-don't really measure anywhere else-but I can tell my clthes are not getting any loser-well maybe jeans on the thighs-not sure!

O.k. that's my whinge over for the week---sorry!

Seriously Im2-well done on the willpower-so funny that a salad with cucumbers is a big cheat!!

Looove Doritos too---so crunchy--even tho it's def a sweet tooth that I have-seriously I could eat chocolate all day!!! xx

Good morning!

Getting There... I am so impressed with your stats.. you must be on cloud nine. You are so close to where I hope to be very very soon!
I guess because you are so close, its getting harder to lose the weight.. so yes, any time the scale moves a tad in the right direction is a good thing!

IM2... how FUNNY about the chinese food!!!! And yum yum. But at least you are prepared for this and know your plan!

Al... glad you enjoyed your glass of wine. We cant be perfect all the time and need little endulgences now and again.. we still need to live life.
Hang in there gang!

Just Starting Today!

Hey Everyone! I just discovered the Stilllman Diet on this forum yesterday and I am starting it today! I am wanting to lose at least 20 pounds. I had my 3rd child 2 months ago and i'm super motivated and excited to start this diet! I was wondering what a sample menu is for the day for you and if you guys eat the whole egg or just the egg whites? Thanks!!

OMG!!!! I just had to tell you guys. I'm just home--seriously--literally ran to the laptop!
I was in a shop this afernoon that I don't go to very often. It's a gorgeous little shop with like home deco things-cute unusual things.
Anyway bought xmassy glass cupcake decorations-love cupcakes-(actually not to eat tho-strange!) and went to the counter to pay and the lady at the desk goes-"oh you've lost weight-"I didn't really say anything-firstly I was too shocked that one: she recognised me at all and two: that she noticed that I had lost weight. So then she goes "oh then I must have mixed you up with someone else, your sister maybe, strange". Seriously I was shocked!!!
Don't think I ever said -maybe I did- but I'm actually working in Germany at the moment-in quite a small town. And they are def more direct than the Irish!!
But in a way it really did make my day-I couldn't stop smiling all the way home!!

HI Emily! Welcome! God you're so tiny already it'll take you no time at all to loose the weight! Congrats on the baby!
For me a typical day looks like turkey and eggs-I eat the yolk-but if you really want to cut all fat out then leave it out! Stillmans is really meat, eggs and fish-nothing else! On the top of the thread IM2 put the diet up-read it and see what you think. My food is really plain and boring but that is also cos I can't cook!
Though I think if you really want it to work well do like Aleriaa who ate turkey soup for weeks and had brill results!!

Getting there.. How exciting!!! Isnt it funny how things like that make us think right away of sharing with the board? LOL
My ex told me last night "... looks like you're losing weight there".
LOL. And my daughter told me that in the store yesterday too.. that was nice.
Everyone knows Im really trying. Funny its starting to show I guess....

Welcome Emily! Congrats on the baby!! Im sure you will do just fine here and will see great results. I wish I would have done this after my baby..LOL. Actually.. I did do Atkins after my son was born in 2001 and I lost like 60 pds.. but foolishly gained it back.ugh...

Thanks for being so nice My weight might look small but i'm about 40 pounds heavier than what i'm happy with. I'm just small boned but let me tell you...being small boned doesn't stop the cellulite . I had 2 egg whites scrambled with one whole egg for breakfast and 3 ounces of lean center pork for lunch. I don't mind bland food at all. I read a lot of the board and saw turkey soup mentioned A LOT! What is the recipe?
