Thanks, Starz:
I have a question for you. I guess I'm still not sure exactly which Stillman's plan I'm doing except that I eat no carbs, try to stick to lean meats only and only have a veggie salad every third day or so (with cheese). . No other fats, etc. I was reviewing the plans today and was wondering.. the 14 Day Shape up mentions a serving of bread (specific to the diet). .do you use any? If so, what do you use? Have you done the 14 day before and what were the results. I'm in a rut (momentarily) and was wondering about trying something a little different but I just don't know! Thanks for your help. You've been a wealth of information and I am sure others appreciate you too!

I have the WII Fitness, but only used it once. I thought it was hilarious when the character I created really plumped up when I got on the step. True body image - BAM! right in my face. I'll have to pull it out again and get reacquainted. Won't be able to start until Sunday.
So, my fake corned beef didn't turn out that great. Not enough flavor, but still edible. I also must confess, I endulged in some vino last night. 2 glasses, at that. The good news is, Im down 3 pounds. I would like to celebrate this for a few hours until I become fully rehydrated. Whats on the menu for today? tuna, tuna and more tuna for me.. then the leftover beef for dinner. Good luck everyone! |

IM2....I don't eat any bread at all, even Stillman bread which I gather is a lot like Atkin's rolls, made mostly of eggs but adding 1 Tablespoon of flour. I've never seen the actual recipe for this Stillman 'bread'. You could make Atkins rolls though which would be Stillman legal if you use cottage cheese instead of the cream cheese. When I make them I use fat free cream cheese (3T.) The 14 day plan is the most like how I eat. I eat all the Stillman proteins, low carb veggies and enough skim milk for my coffee, sometimes Kroger carbmaster yogert (the lowest carb yogert I've ever seen). My results on the 14 day plan are directly related to my calorie intake. If I'm eating 500 calories less than I take in each day, I lose 1 pound a week. Nothing dramatic. I lost most of my weight so far in 1 or 2 pounds a week eating between 1,200 and 1,500 calories a day. I'm guessing you're pretty bored with the QWL diet right now. This was always my problem after a couple weeks on it. QWL will give the most dramatic weight loss possible in my opinion but after awhile that weight loss will generally slow to 1,2 or 3 pounds a week. You only have about 25 pounds to lose so I'd expect your weight loss to be fairly slow no matter what plan you follow. I think this is where it will pay off for you to find what works, what you can live with and then stick to it no matter what. I don't know if this would be true for you, but for me, if I do not stick to a plan even if I'm not losing, I will gain back what I've lost...so my advice to you would be to make whatever modifications to your plan you can live with and stick with it for the long haul. Being active will probably help you too. Too much exercise though can actually stall weight loss.
Aleriaaa...I'm sorry your beef was not 'corney' enough. I was thinking of trying that myself. Hmmm. I think I will still get some pickling spice though and experiment with it. My favorite seasoning right now is Mrs. Dash's Garlic and Herb. i need to stay away from salt. Last edited by Starzmom; 10-01-2009 at 07:11 AM.. |

Starz - I'm thinking.. the next time I will marinate the beef in the spices for at least a day, maybe two, and then throw it in the cooker. I have to give it another shot! Let me know what you come up with!

Also you could google for a spice mix for corned beef on the internet. That's how I get most of my recipe help. Usually a marinade has some sort of acidic base like a little vinegar or lemon juice to help tenderize the meat and get the seasoning in there!

HEY IM2! How did the luncheon go! Hope it was fun!
STARZ - I have a few questions about the book. I just re-read the "stillmans by the book" thread and I wanted to thank thank thank you for providing us with so much info. Would you mind posting Chapter 8 - The fasting Diet? Only if you're scanning - please dont take up all your time to type it up. Also, would you mind looking up the chart and telling me how many calories Im supposed to eat for Stay Slim Eating and what my recommended weight is? I'm 5'2. No biggie if you dont have time. Ive still got weeks before I can move on to Slim Eats. Here's to another cheat free day! Minus the sweet & low in my coffee.... |

aleriaaa...I have a problem promoting eating at starvation levels so I purposely have not posted those diets. I think they are on here somewhere in a thread though. As for your ideal weight at 5'2" Stillman's charts say between 110-121 pounds and between 1,450-1,815 to maintain that.

Hey, Everyone! I think we might be the only 3 on this month.. Come 'on everyone. . we need your support!Anyway, thanks for asking about my luncheon! I am pleased to report that I went and did very well. I downloaded a menu off the website before going and I picked out our choices in advance. I also searched for "Famous Daves" on this websites and got some advice from some other low carbers. .(Duh, you can order anything on their menu "naked" !!). .I had the chicken Caesar salad, asked them to leave off the croutons.. dressing on the side). My hubby got the beef brisket with the routi chicken. We split our meals and we asked for corn muffins as our sides and brought them home to our kids for their dinner! We did order a drink but it still worked out wonderfully! I surprised myself and weighed in, too. .was down 2 pounds. .(I was holding my breath, though . . I'll take it for now. I'm curious to see what next week brings.. Stupid Tom dropped in for a visit yesterday so I won't weigh myself until later.. Last night, I put two English roasts in the slow cooker with onion soup mix (I am not sure if that has carbs. I threw the box away before I put the packets up in the cupboard..). . Even if it does. it was so worth it. The roasts were wonderful - I cooked them on low all night..even my kids commented on how good it was! I'm thinking they must miss my cooking just a bit! Thank you, again, Starz, for all the information. I am just a little scared of carbs right now but I'm thinking I may start adding a few Veggies and maybe berries/nuts after I lose another 10. . I know I've got to eat something besides meat every day. Hubby cleared out the family room and put the Eliptical and the treadmill back down. . I guess I have no excuse now. He's at a stand still (weight-wise) so I reminded him how much better we were doing when we were walking every day at lunch. Weather hasn't been so great so I guess we have to come up with another plan. Aleriaaa: Good for you!! I think a glass or two time and again is actually good for you. .I admit it, I will have a Rum and Diet Coke every once in awhile. I think as long as you hydrate yourself and don't over induldge, it doesn't cause a lot of damage. The body burns the alcohol before it returns to burning all the protein. . I understand that it may delay your loss a little. But. .we have to live, don't we? I hope everyone has a great Sunday. I plan to work around the house and get some more closets cleaned out. gotta make room for my new smaller sizes!!! |

IM2..good to 'see' you. I think Stillman posters come and go. It is a diet (the QWL) that is meant for a limited time and people get tired of doing it and so leave the thread. I do this too. Yeah I'm here now but not doing QWL but QWL plus veggies and a little skim milk or yogert.

Hi Everyone! Can I join your group?!
I have been doung Stillmans for a while-the protein only one. Do you find it is the mosy boring diet ever?? I was doing Atkins since November but really stalled in May-tried the fat fast to get moving but it didn't really do anything so I started Stillmans. I lost about 3 pounds a week but that is really with a lot of exercise(hour pilates and 2.5-3hours of bike riding) so not sure if it Stillmans or exercise! Interesting about too much exercise can stall weight loss tho because I stopped it in August cos was on hols etc. and relaxed diet a bit and lost about 10lbs and a lot of inches-thought that was strange(but good ) Anyway food today was: 2 boiled eggs for brekkie, chicken breast for lunch, can of tuna sometime around 4, and another chicken breast for dinner-that's pretty much the same everyday =-boring! |

Hey IM2!! 2 pounds!!! That's awesome!!!! I predict another whoosh in your very near future with all that excerise youre about to do. Wouldnt want to upset hubby after he set you up a nice gym!! You sound motivated - and its making me want to move a little more too! Ask me tomorrow if I exercised - Im gonna do it this time!
Hi Starz! Im so glad you keep popping in here 'cause I dont know what we'd do without ya! Welcome Getting there! So glad to have you on board! You have done a remarkable job! Your stats say it all!! I feel your pain. This is the MOST BORING DIET EVER! But it works, so I'll take it! Losing 10lbs without exercise is awesome!!! Almost makes me want to take back my promise to IM2. (dont woryy IM2. I wont. I wont) So, I was able to get a 20lb fresh turkey today and throw together a little pre-thanksgiving shmoregishborg with all the fixins. My extended family, that doesnt know the details of my diet, were amazed/shocked when I piled my plate high with turkey, turkey, and more turkey. They weren't too hard on me but thier faces were priceless. Stuffing and potatoes are not gonna keep me from getting into my size 8 jeans!!! I see a lot of turkey leftovers in my future this coming week..... |

Getting there: . .
We are always happy to have new faces and new ideas for this very "boring" diet. The only thing I can say. .it works, its easy and almost anyone can do it. you learn to get real creative with your protein!!! Hehehe. .I've found that many of us do a modified QWL.. but I like the company on this board so I keep coming back for more.. .Aleriaaa: OK. .so I didn't exercise today (although hubby did). . I consider the laundry, dishes, floors, shopping, running kids home and cleaning the bathroom to be enough exercise for me today. . I will really try to use one of those darn machines tomorrow. (Monday. .a new week). .I want to lose at least 1 or 2 more so I can honestly say I am in the 150's!! that two pounds can sneak right back on. BTW, that turkey sounds wonderful. I may have to slow cook one this week, myself. I made a modified supper today. .I cooked Zuchinni with some green pepper, very little onion, celery, season salt and mixed in some ground beef. It was very good. . not quite on plan but it took away my craving for the meat loaf I made my kids. .they were very thoughtful this afternoon and put it all away before I had a chance to clean up the leftovers! Tomorrow I want to try the Diet Cola, Low Carb Ketchup chicken recipe. . BBQ sounds good. . WE HAVE A DEAL Some new exercise tomorrow!! I want this to happen. . wouldn't it be great to fit into a new size for Thanksgiving? or maybe even Halloween? gives me goosebumps thinking about it.One last thought. . Thank you to everyone for giving me a sounding board. I hate boring my friends with my weight loss efforts. . either they are too thin to care or don't care if they are thin! Here's to a wonderful new week! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, too much turkey for me I guess... Back up to 154. 2 pound gain that I took from IM2. I'll hold onto it for a while as long as she doesn't get it back.
![]() The zucchini dish made my mouth water! looking at the calendar, Christmas day will be my 6 month anniversary. That will be the day that Im allowed a few treats. Im not talking pies and brownies, but I will be indulging in some low carb veggie dishes! Woohoo! Party Time! Gonna start thinking of what I can bring now! It'll come quick - I can do this! So instead of staying on the board for the next hour, Im off to do some squats, wall push ups (I know its wimpy but I gotta start slow), and some crunches. I'll report back later. keep up the good work everyone!! |

Stillman legal dippin' sauce:
1/2 cup cottage cheese 2 T water 1/2 envelope instant boullion Blend it up until smooth. I haven't tried this but it might be different from mustard, and more on plan than mayo. |

This really resonated with me. Been out of touch. No gain, but *just* under the radar.
Binging isn't as bad as it used to be but the fact that I'm not eating on plan is binging for me. Thanks for pulling me back! ![]() |

If I stay on plan during the evenings then I already won. Got to keep the momentum going.
I'm doing the inches off plan, by the way. I eat my vegetables and fruit in the evening. Last edited by LoraJR72; 10-06-2009 at 04:25 AM.. |

Im the type that likes to have a really full plate in front of me. Instaed of using dinner plates now, I fill my lunch plate up with meat. (like 7", instead of 10") Makes me feel like Im eating more. You get used to the trim down portions after a while. Plus, if you add an extra peice of chicken to every meal, you'll probably find that you can't even finish it and wont have room for anything else.
Lora and Kinder - we're here for you. Check back often. You will get through it this time and we'll all be HOT HOT HOT by Halloween! |

So, after my first day of exercise, Im feeling good but my neck is slightly sore. I tried so hard to only use stomasch muscles for my crunches. Guess my poor neck couldnt help but take over. Funny that I should mention my stomach and muscles in the same sentence. Non-existant!
BUT. I plan on doing at leat 30 more today! Maybe 40!!! Keep at it everyone!! I'll check in later! |

I was able to squeeze into my size 4 slacks today. I'm not a happy camper that last year at this time, I complained they were too big and I could not find a decent pair of pants!! What was wrong with me back then?
Well, the past is past and now I have to concentrate on eating better. Every day. There is no excuse if I have yummy food available to me. I'm also cutting down on my drinking to one evening a week and it will not be beer. |
