I've realized there are times when I just have to give up trying to be good. I'm going to bed before I eat my way through the cupboard. . Why, now, am I becoming obsessed with food again? Not that I wasn't before but why would it hit me today when I was feeling so darn good - I even got two compliments this afternoon. . . .perhaps being too good is scaring me? IDK. . maybe I'm just reverting to old habits that I haven't quite licked or maybe I'm just stressed? Who knows. .Tomorrow is going to be another bright cheery day. I'm not going to let this set me back and I'm all for starting my week over!

Lets all do it!

Hi IM2! Sorry it was a tough day yesterday. My day ended in a downer too. Got home, and all of my dinner possibilities were making me want to puke. Took a few bites of chicken, put that away, heated up a pork chop, took a few bites and threw it away, tried some chicken broth and forced it down. Went to bed grumpy. I'm pleased with the weight loss from this diet but it really is causing some negative energy. I dont know if I should suggest we try a different approach, but we have taken this diet to levels that most don't ever reach. Guess we're just 2 crazies in the bunch. I can't even believe we've lasted this long. Oh and Im back up 2 lbs. joy.

On a happy note, I did get in some exercises yesterday - 30 crunches, push-ups, squats. Maybe the 2 pound gain is my new found muscles! (kidding-ha!)

Today will be a better day. .I feel it in my weary bones! It must have been in the air last night. Today I have a very busy day! Homecoming game for my boys. . one plays in band and one is singing the National Anthem. .Then Saturday is the dance. . My hubby has to pull a midnight shift after working all day so I will have no one to babysit me! That's OK. . I have some new found faith in myself.

We can pull it together and have a great weekend!!

Check in fellow Losers! We need some support!

I think Im missing my hamburger bowl. A few days on chicken and tuna has made me temporarily insane. I'll have to get some ground beef today!

Hey Gals!

Well Ive been going strong here with 5 days of straight Stillmans and I's have to say - this plan is way too effective. Its beyond awesome. I fit into size 2's (at old Navy, which yes...are sized a little bigger, but still) I have no idea what I weight, im not getting on the scale...im sure im in the low 120's. Ive also added 45 minutes of walking 5 days a week, im training for a marathon in March.

The HUGEST difference for me was cutting out veggies (obviously) and cutting out anything besides lean meat. ANY sugar-free drinks (diet soda, crystal light) and I would lose SO much less. Cut that out - and it will MELT off you. I also just eat meat (no eggs, no cheeses, no mustard, no dips, no sugar free jello). Ground turkey, lean burger, fish, the all natural tuna, deli meat with NO fillers. Check for fillers too - those make me feel gross and retain water...specially frozen chicken.

Just saying - this diet - its worth doing it PLAIN AND SIMPLE...it works way too good. I even went off plan last night because my shorts were falling off as I walked around the mall last night. When you take out those little extras that you think you need to help you get through (diet coke, mustard, sf jello) it becomes SOOOO much easier, and your results are INSANE.

Try it.

Ok so I read through some of your posts...it makes me sad cause I know if I can do this (and feel this great) you guys can too! Some people are still hungry and some are still fighting with food obsession and cravings and it really doesnt have to be that way.

The best thing to do - stock ur fridge (from Costco or Sams) with tons of lean meat choices. Day 1 - eat, eat, eat. The plainer the better - the more bland the better, I dont even season. MEAT, MEAT, MEAT. Simple, simple.

Maybe we should post what we are eating everyday, and give feedback to eachother.

My husband started this with me (6 ft 270 pounds) by day 3, I had to TELL him to eat more...the man wasnt getting enough calories.

Im telling you - all the funky sf foods and artificial ingredients is what does it. FOR ME (and im sure many others) its the difference between losing and killing cravings and not.

WE CAN DO THIS!!!

OK . .I'm in! I'm ready for the big melt! (Not melt-down. .hehhe). . .Perhaps that is my problem. .the fillers! I swore off sugar free gunk. but I'm not so sure I can give up my diet pop. .I'm down to one a day so if I am still feeling a little funky by Monday. .I'll ditch that too. . just not quite ready for the headaches..

As a footnote, make sure you take your vitamins and supplements. I would be lost without my B12 - I read another article this morning on the benefits of Vitamin D so I think I'll keep taking that. .supposed to be wonderful for cell rejuv, .

OK.. who else is in? Lets get back to the basics and give up all the other crap. .

Yea...if you can try and give up the diet coke and replace it with water or coffee or even plain tea (no sugar packets) the better you will feel and lose. I know if I give my body ANYTHING that tastes sweet...it wants more, and I hate saying NO (I always cave). I eat a lot more, I have cravings, and I just hate the feeling.

The more flavors you taste, (salt, sugar, etc) the more it stimulates your appetite and you eat more. I know that sounds extremely strict...BUT..its eating to live, eating to feed the body - which is normal. Thats the point where you want to be. Where you are eating to feed the body - not emotions or to quiet the obsession with food.

Also if you can - limit your variety of foods to choose from. Keep like 3 main staples on hand. Mine are: Ground turkey, tilapia, and chicken or lean beef. The more options you have to choose from (like the cottage cheese, and the sf jello, skim cheeses, all the little extras) the more it stimulates the appetite. Just like at buffets or family dining - you will eat more because you have an array of choices. Variety stimulates the appetite.

That idea in itself has CHANGED my eating habits extremely - I got it from a book called "The Thin Commandments" which was THE best book ever! Its my diet bible - I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!

I must admit I always forget my one-a-day....
What is everyone taking and what time of day?

So, heres to a new start .... no artificial sugars and per silly's suggestion, no mustard!

I like the idea of posting everyday what we eat/drink...

I sometimes forget too - I just set out the bottle to remind me to take one.

Last night I had chicken and seven layer dip with chips, and animal crackers (planned). So todays day 1 again for me, then on Friday (next week) I will have another "free meal" as I call them.

I normally do Stillmans all week then have a one day break where I have a dinner of whatever I want. This keeps my head sane and my body always guessing, I lose great doing it this way. Just my little spin on things.

So - I do Stillmans 6 days a week, 1 day a week I have a free meal. It still works great (better actually, in my opinion) specially psychologically. "Light at the end of the tunnel" - keeps me going.

Hi everyone! SillyErin size2-I'm seriously jealous!! I'm still stuck on 155-for over a week-for me it's a stall. This happenend around 195 but I was still eating veggies. So I cut then out and started losing again. What can I cut out now!? My daily food looks like this-breakfast-2 boiled eggs, lunch-griled chicken breast, afternoon can of tuna in brine, and dinner another grilled chicken breast.so boring! I use some mustard with tuna and chick. I do drink tea but no coffee. And I do put the tiniest bit of milk in my tea(I just can't drink it blaclk!) I do about an hour bike and an hour pilates everyday. So what can I do differently? Any tips greatly apprecieated! xx

I would cut the eggs, mustard, and milk. And I wouldnt drink anything but water. Look at ur canned tuna as well - it sometimes says "flavorings" in the ingredients. The type of tuna I eat is Sunkist all natural tuna filet, ingredients : tuna, water. Sometimes if u eat chicken too much (like me) you can actually develop a allergy or sensitivity. All I know is if I avoid chicken and eggs - I lose again. Any artificial ingredients or additives and I stall.

Once you get into ketosis - (which it sounds like you arent there yet, because you dont even consider food boring when youre in ketosis - u just dont care if it is or not) black coffee wont bother you. Remember Stillman says "dont eat anything not on this list" which includes your milk, or yogurt or anything else ive seen people add on. He says it because he knows you wont lose rapidly if you do -

If you are doing something and it isnt working, you have to take a hard look at what you are eating. Stillmans isnt the most liberal diet (makes Atkins look like heaven) its all about gettin er done, getting the weight off quick and easy, then moving on. I think cutting those little extras is worth it.

Hi SillyErin! Thanks for the tips. My tuna has nothing else in it-just tuna! I am in ketosis-I check with the ketostix. I have actually lost an inch from my hips so maybe I shouldn't be so hung up on the scale(still hasn't budged). So what do you eat-turkey and tuna-dry tuna-with no dressing whatsoever? I'll try!xx

Hmmm..how long has it been since the scale hasnt moved? Because I know u said you have been doing some cardio - if you are a beginner your muscles will hold water, but thats normally for a couple days. And with being on Stillmans, you wouldnt really notice because of the continual rapid loss on this plan.

You should definitely be seeing a loss - the scale should be moving. If its not, you have to really dig through your menu to see what your adding in by accident. Even the smallest thing could mean no loss.

And yes, I eat just dry tuna. I eat it right out of the can after I drain it.

Yesterday I had just plain turkey burger on the George Foreman. I can eat stuff over and over - It was probably around 12oz for the day (im not a breakfast eater). No seasons, nothing..just the meat. I also ran about 3 miles around 5pm,which helps with appetite and sleep.

Im glad to be here! I just wanna help, I know what its like to be extremely frustrated and feel overweight. You guys are doing great!

Yea...the gum is a huge red flag for me. It stimulates my appetite like no other!

Its weird because you'd think "well my calories are so low already today, I dont see how some broth or crystal light - which both have little to calories - could hurt." But they do - some people can have them and lose just fine. And then others have the hardest time ever losing without taking them all out. Ive seen people get really small going on South Beach (I gained 10 lbs on that diet) and others gain on Atkins (I lose weight with high fat as long as there are 0 carbs). The thing is, you have to find out what your body responds to the best. And then work it!

If your goal is to lose this weight, you have to be extremely determined. I'd rather get this weight off quick and be done with it, and maybe skip cheese for a while - then to prolong it and go day by day with no loss because I cant live without diet coke. You just have to be extremely focused and determined!

If your mind is the one in control, then your body has to follow.

I don't know if you're just coming off a weight loss but if so your body may just be adjusting to that. If you're using salt or it's close to TOM it could be fluid. I wouldn't cut anything out of your diet except maybe cut down on your salt content, maybe even increase calories a little bit rather than cutting. If you haven't had a BM in awhile that could explain it,too.

Wow! I guess I have to take another long look at what I'm eating. . Perhaps too much salt, too. . Goodness. .what a killer this is! To think I used to lose the same amount by doing Weight Watchers. . But I really like the "no brainer" this die-T is. . Makes it super simple and I am no obsessing about food every few minutes. When I was doing WW, my life consisted of planning my next meal, snack, etc. . .Now ..I know I have something quick and can get out the door. Today, I got up early, drank my ***black*** coffee and took off for the mall. My boy needed clothes for his Homecoming tonight. It was 2:00 before I realized I hadn't eaten. .Skipped the gum so I think that made the difference today. . .I'll just quit breathing on people and I should be all set!! Keep the tips coming. .we love 'em!

Nah, the salt wont hurt you. Specially if you arent eating any processed foods....and if u arent adding it, your salt may actually be too low. Try lite salt, it has added potassium and half the sodium of table salt. I actually add it because i dont want my electrolytes getting outta wack.

If you arent losing weight - its much simpler than you may think. Calories in vs calories out or up your water, or maybe have a higher fat day. If youre eating on plan but 2,000 calories...you wont lose.

If you have been doing Stillmans straight for longer than 3 weeks, I'd try doing a dinner of whatever you wanted. I'd never go longer than 10 days on Stillmans without a break.

This of course is all just my opinion and what happens to work for me. Been there, done that. Its taken me 9 years of trial and error to get it right.

Hi everyone! Well I just now read SillyErins tip to maybe do a dinner of whatever you wanted-well yeah unfortunately kind of did that last night-had sweet bread roll thing with cinnimon(god can't spell it!) yum! and some chocolate-the dark stuff so you know that's ok really!! Mmm! Interesting tho I did not feel good after the bread-hopefully it will put me off having it again! Anyway TOM came this morning so maybe thet was the reason for the stall(usually doesn't happen tho) Back on plan today. Will look to see if stall stops after Tom goes and then will try and tweak diet. I wonder if maybe my calories are a bit low but then I'm worried if I add more the I will stop losing altogther. Oh well we'll see! Congrats on keeping off the sweetners aleriaa! xx

Hi all,
Thank you for your words of encouragement and motivation. It looks like you committed stillmanizers are doing wonderfully & my heart goes out to those who are stalling on this plan, I feel for you. I remember when I was eating well (according to the low fat theory anyway..) and exercising 5 times a week and did this for months without losing weight, I felt so betrayed by my body for putting in so much effort for no results… anyway no stall can last forever.
I also wanted to let you know that I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. After a long hard think last week I’ve decided stillmans isn’t for me although I really admire those who are doing it. I am on my 3rd day of my el naturale diet and I am feeling content about food for the first time in ages. I have cut out cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and junk food from my diet and I am going to do this for 6 weeks and see how I feel, then maybe add coffee back if needed and moderate amounts of alcohol. I’m just eating natural yoghurt, fruit, lean meats, eggs, seafood, veggies, a bit of brown rice, nuts and seeds, lentils and beans. I’ll post here in a few weeks to give an update on my progress for those who are interested. Yours in health, Jen

Itstime - welcome!! Stillmans is an awesome plan.

Getting there- I think ur doing great, this plan is so effective that u can have ur higher carb day and still do great! I caved and had animal crackers last night (they weren't even good, bleh) but I'm not worried about it. I'm just hoppin back on plan today!
