woohoo! size 4s!!! Im so envious! I bet if you picked up some 4s from walmart, they'll be hanging off. You look great and should be so proud of your progress. A year later and still being able to get into a 4.... JOB WELL DONE!

I find that I can't drink as much now and the desire has totally dwindled since going protein only. Im a lightweight now, as far as wine goes, one glass and IM OUT! zzzzzzzzzz.... I want the happy buzz, but it actually makes my stomach burn. sigh. I used to love me some after dinner drinks.

Lora/Erin.. Yippeee.. The more the merrier!!

Size 4 !! Seriously !! (Yes, I've been watching Grey's Anatomy!!). . That is a huge accomplishment. .be proud of yourself and be even more proud that you were able to stay in a size 4 for that long and that you now recognize the need to tune it up a bit. I think that's where a lot of us fail. .we think losing the weight is the battle. .but I know keeping it off is the real test!! I vowed to do it this time. I'm getting too old and too tired to keep playing with it. I'm not having any more kids (4 boys is more than enough!) so I have no excuse. . Use it or lose it.. or something like that!

I was excited to log in today to see all the comments. I missed yesterday. .sorry. .I won't lie to you Aleriaaa, I just couldn't squeeze in any machine time. I did, however, run around Walgreens, ran the kids to their events, made dinner, did some book-keeping, cleaned the kitchen. .does any of this count? Not really. . I'll get off my lazy but tonight and just do it!

Congratulations to you for crunching and twisting and turning. You deserve a star for the day. The smaller plate idea is great. .I do it all the time and I also eat with a baby fork/spoon. Makes me really slow down and enjoy. .Meat is hard to swallow whole, anyway. .so chew, chew you must!

Good Luck to everyone today. .I have no new recipes. .except that I did put a sprinkling of cheese on my chicken this morning. I don't do cottage cheese so I used the 2% Sharp Cheddar with just a tad of green pepper.. . Just enough to flavor it a bit.. . At least it wasn't hot fudge sauce!!! Although, I did try to pretend it was . .not quite!!!

Thanks!

I think I won't push things to much and do elliptical, rowing machine, and abs. Maybe some biceps and triceps if not too tired.

I need a nap and the kids aren't feelin it.

Wow IM2! 4 boys! Running around with them definitely counts as a workout and a half! My son is 4 and daughter 2. Two is even too many for me to handle sometimes.

Ive used the baby spoon too! Mostly for sugar-free pudding and Dotties Pumpkin Bake, back in the day...ah the good ole times..

Quick question about the rowing machine.... does it work your stomach or just arms and legs? Ive never used one but it may be the old thing that I would have fun doing...

well, off to make some coffee and figure out what to do with my pork roast! Perhaps the onion soup mix like mentioned earlier...

The rowing machine works my entire body and I contract my abs in when I pull and out when I exhale coming back.

Hi all,
I've tried Stillmans a bit but never really lasted more than a few days, my committment wasn't really there and i was afraid of the strictness of the diet but i feel differently now, i have booked a girls trip to the beach for new years eve and i want more than anything in the world to be in summer clothes with my friends and feeling part of the group and sexy like them. I have read about the quick results people see here with stillmans and i figure it's time to give it a go. After i have lost the first 45lbs i am happy to go onto a less strict plan but for now it is what i need.

how much do you think it is possible to lose with my stats in 11 1/2 weeks?

also for those who have done stillmans long term (ie more than a few weeks) can you please share your tips, story with me.

At first i didmn't want to try stillmans cause i felt it was kinda wrong to eat so strictly but then i compare that to what i've been doing lately (bingeing and drinking) and i figure it's gotta be better for me than that.

sorry for the long post

jen

Hi, Jen

First off, I'd cut the drinking down to one evening a week and keep away from beer. If you stick to QWL plan, you'd probably lose about 1-1/2 to 2lbs. a week conservatively. Some people get bored with the repetition of the plan so they spruce up their meals by getting savvy with condiments and spices. I noticed if I kind of get the urge to binge.. I jump into the inches off plan for a day or two. Grab an apple or some salad. I am currently on the Inches Off Plan and trying to incorporate a more Mediterranean style of eating. Yesterday, other than eggs, it was nothing but veggies, tofu veggie patties, non fat cottage cheese, and non fat plain yogurt. And I felt great because I basically eat all day long.

Here's an example of yesterday:

Breakfast - 6:15am - 2 eggs scrambled with tofu veggie pattie, mustard, a bit of horseradish, a squirt of ketchup

Snack - 9:30am - 1/2 cottage cheese

Snack - 11:30am (I was busy yesterday and should have eaten my snacks at 9 and 11 - oh well! LOL) - 1/2 yogurt with 1/4 tsp unsweetened coca and sprinkle of cinnamon

Lunch - 12:30pm Same as Breakfast (20 minute brisk power walking)

Snack: 1 hard boiled egg sprinkled with cayenne pepper at 2:30pm
Snack: Same snack but at 4:30pm - 200mg. of anyhydrous caffeine, fill up on water.

(I drink about 60 to 80oz. of water daily.) - Off to gym for workout. Yesterday was elliptical, rowing, and abs.

Dinner at about 6:10 or so: Hitting the salad bar it was all veggies with red kidney beans and edame (sp?), red vinegar, and lots of black pepper. For dessert, a delicious green apple

I take a multi-vitamin, 2 shots of apple cider vinegar daily - one in am with water, one in pm with water, and a green tea supplement.

Hope this helps.

Lora

I started off at 189. Its been 11 weeks for me and I lost 37 pounds. The first 20 or so, came off quick and now its much slower. I just started exercising 2 days ago, so Im hoping to speed up the results.

My only advice for staying on plan is to get past the first 3-5 days. As difficult as it may be to stick with, keep going. It will get better. Your appetite will diminish, pounds will dissolve and you'll be on your way to complete success. Don't cheat!!! or you'll have to start all over again.

Let us know how your doing!

Got the crock pot set up with a roasting chicken. Salt, pepper, and herbs de provence!

4.5 more hours till lunch is served!

Gonna try to make some broth with the bones later. Then maybe I can drink it instead of the Crystal Light!

My confession of the day.... I have not cut back any artificial sweetners whatsoever. As punishment I will add lunges and arm circles to my Day 3 workout.

Aleriaaa: I'm bad, too. . I drink diet pepsi, flavored water and I even add it to my coffee every now and again. . I will confess, I tend to crave more sweets the more I use so I too will add lunges and arm circles and raise you with leg lifts! I think its the least we can do considering what big cheats we've been!!!

Imagine. .feeling guilty over fake sugar!! ((((hanging my head in shame)))))

If Meghan were your trainer (she's an itty bitty thing but she's my height!) she'd make you do a full body workout 3 days a week. Would emphasis lots of walking and running or HIIT on the Elliptical if your knees and lower back aren't up to par.

Plus, she emails me ever bleeding day to asking what I am eating for the day and commit to it. AND, she's got the running bug inside her and started training for the Boston Marathon again! Her 6th time!

"Come on, Lora, run with me at 5am!" - Yeah, right!

Hang in there Soccerchic!! QWL will give you the best results in the time frame you mentioned. The first day is tough, the second is worse, but it does get easier!! If you're gonna give it another try, maybe start on a day off. I remember feeling real tired and cranky the first few days, with a constant headache too. I just tried to rest as much as possible and went to bed real early so I wouldnt give in.

I have had no negative side effects since!

Does anyone else have any suggestions to get through the first couple days???

Ever since BloodSugar101 had the hamburger article posted, I've done more research into the conditions of slaughterhouses and processing plants. I'm really losing my appetite for ALL meat in general. Maybe my body is craving something else for once? Other than a few eggs, it has been veggies, an apple in the evening, cottage cheese, and yogurt.

HEY IM2! I think that the more we have to lose, the quicker it comes off (in the beginning). Plus, my eating habits were so horrendous for the months prior to this diet, it was a complete shock to my system. Im sure you were probably already eating healthier when you started. Im sorry its taking so long. As long as we're noticing that clothes are fitting better, and we can bend down easier to tie our shoes, or cross our legs like a lady, we shouldnt worry about the scale. I know, easier said than done.

Good idea to cut out the candies and the cream. We're holding you to it! If you can't do it all at once, Id start there, then move on to the soda and gum. What else can we use for our kickin ketosis breath???? (actually, I now carry around a sample listerine bottle but Im sure we still end up swallowing a few carbs after we spit it out. same with toothpaste-ugh!)

Has anyone ever tried putting cottage cheese in thier coffee? I bet the coffee would taste great black after attempting that! Im still guilty of putting (.5 - 1) sweet & low packet in. This is still an accomplishment because I was always a "light & sweet" girl - 6 S&L and extra extra cream in a medium. I never thought I would be able to give up the cream or cut back the S&L.

So, I guess if I could get through a pretty much black coffee, I should be able to down a regular bottle of Poland Springs. Why don't I just do it?

sorry for my ramblings...

My suggestions for getting through the first day and the first few after that. Make sure you have plenty of legal foods available and eat whenever you're hungry. Don't try to starve yourself. Your appetite will naturally diminish after a few to several days. Make sure to drink plenty of water, tea and diet beverages. Keep yourself busy with easy tasks like crafts or very light housework..something that keeps your hands busy. Don't try to work out hard in the beginning. Cut down on nightime TV as the commercials for food can get you going! Post here every day.

I don't know.

Which phase are you doing?

If you are doing QWL, then stick with it if its working for you in losing weight. Then progress to other phases and go back to QWL every other week or so.

I am on the Inches Off plan as far as using it as a guideline. I do not eat grains, flour, or sugar. I do not eat hard cheese. I eat an apple at the end of the day. I do not count calories and I eat all day long. I do weigh and measure everything that I consume. By tomorrow I will know if what I am doing is successful (weight wise).

Calling all newbies! Always listen to Starzmom - she gives great advice!!

Thanks Lora! I'll try to stick with QWL til goal (another 34 pounds!!) These diets are so extreme. QWL is all meat, Inches Off no meat.

I hope to one day find a good balance of the two and be able to maintain.

Hi Everyone! Just checking in! Size 4 jeans--I'm jealous!! The scale seems to be stuck on 155 for me for the last week--.2, then .8 then .4-aah! Oh well, think I've lost an inch off my hips tho so shouldn't be complaining! Finding it tough to loose from stomach. Good luck to all who are starting-it's boring but it does work! Cottage cheese in black coffee??----yuk!! xx

I have no idea where that came from but if I were eating cottage cheese, I would definitely try it. I'm so sorry and I hope I don't scare anyone away with comments like that.
