Can I join? Tomorrow would be my first day. I have lost 64 lbs since March 29.. 39 of that since May 6. I need to lose 11 more (at least) by August 14th. I know that is ridiculous and I am very proud of what I have accomplished thus far. I started LCing about a week or so ago because I plateaued for a while and I think that the Stillman QWL WOE is right up my alley and may be my only chance to reach my 50 lbs lost goal by Aug. 14th. I read that he wrote that in the first week you can lose 5 to 10% of your weight the first week so that would be 12.5 to 25 lbs in 7 days. Any tips out there? I really want to win because the prize is $275 and I could really use that to buy an iPod and some new running shoes as I intend to continue with my new lifestyle.

Ha. I did a day of stillman's yesterday. Stuck with Stillman's til about 8 pm tonight when I got home from work and we went out to eat. FAIL.
Tomorrow's another day. I have a tendency to not lose as fast as many people who do wonderfully on these kind of quick weightloss diets. I'd like to see everyone's Stillman menu to see if I'm overdoing or just to see how I compare. I'm going to try to post daily, even if there's really no one here. If I post, I feel like I'll be more accountable. |

I have been gone for a while from LCF, but have done Stillman's off and on during my absence. I read again most of Dr Stillman's book last night and have recommited to this WOE for the millionth time. My life has just been so busy lately, that I haven't had the energy or desire to give this my full attention and I find comfort in food.
My only saving grace is that I exercise almost everyday so I really haven't gained anything but I really would like to get to the average weight for my height, which is 115, maybe a couple on the downside . I started this morning with 2 scrambled eggs. I bought some hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese and some kosher hotdogs for my lunches for the rest of the week. Dinners I will have some type of meat on the grill, I am not a fish eater so hamburger patties, steak or chicken it is. Good Luck to Everyone!

Back again
Hi everyone!
It's not my first time here on the boards. Last year I lost 30lbs before my wedding. I felt so much better, and Stillman's was so fast, that though the diet is hard, the results are worth it. I'm back, about a year later- gained that 30 back, and an extra 20. I can beat myself up about it, or I can do something to change it. I'm pumped! I'll be posting my menus and stuff daily. It's very helpful for accountability. I hope your weight loss trials are going well today! See you after the first day hurdle!

Hi everyone!
I am still on plan and this is easier then I thought. My first day(Monday) was only 400 or so calories. I increased my calories yesterday by incorporating extra lean ground beef(hamburger patties) and was up to 1,000. Not what I like but I'm still trying to figure this out. I would rather be around 1200 calories. I'm rather hungry today so hopefully I can reach 1200. I use sparkpeople to track my fat, carbs, protein etc. Todays menu: B-2 eggs, 3 slices of turkey bacon L-Hamburger pattie D-Shrimp w/jerk seasoning |

Hello there! I have just gone through and read jsut about everyone Stillman related thread there is on these forums (or at least a whole darn lot of them!)
ANyway, I would LOVE to join you lovely people for August. I will definately be doing the Stillman QWL diet for ALL of August as my goal is to be 130 by then (which atm means 19 pounds in 26 days.....quite ambitious!) I am determined and quite confident that this is possible though! I joined this site specifically so I could give and recieve some support for the stillman diet. I am a member of sparkpeople (username KELFGG for anyone else that uses the site and wouls like to friend me but they didnt really have any forums that supported the stillman way as it is quite extreme. Anyway, today was day 1 for me and it went perfectly apart from the fact that I didn't exercise. hopefully i will tomorrow mornign if I can get to sleep soon! And here is what my day looked like: Breakfast: 1 whole egg, 3 egg whites, and about 1 tbsp hot sauce Lunch: 8 oz of shrimp sauteed in lemon and freshly squeezed garlic Snack: same as lunch Dinner: 2 egg whites accrding to sparkpeople that is 1.9% carbs, 22.2% fat, and 75.8% protein in 466 calories hopefully I will see a good loss when I step on the scale in the morning! ![]() goodnight everyone ![]()

How'd everyone do yesterday? It's 5:47 and I am at work. I dropped 2 lbs after day one, which I finished with cottage cheese cinnamon and splenda... it was way too delicious.
Today I started the day with the cottage cheese and I am going to have the albacore tuna steak for lunch and an omelet for dinner. Yum. I hope everyone did awesome yesterday! |

Hi guys!
One day down. I haven't weighed yet, I'm thinking I'll wait a week and see- otherwise I get weirdly obsessive about it.Yesterday's menu: breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled & small amount of ketchup lunch: 3 turkey wienies & cottage cheese dinner: turkey roll-ups (they weren't awesome ) & more cottage cheese I'm going to go to the store tonight and get some other essentials. What kind of fiber are yall having? Baby spinach with 0 fat & 0 carb salad spritzer- think that would be ok? Also, what's the consensus on protein shakes/low carb shakes? They weren't around in the days of Dr. Stillman, so I wonder if they are legal. Has anyone ever heard of P90x? My husband is set on trying it... it looks pretty intense, so I'm on the fence. Not much for exercise, I suppose that's a major problem. I might be interested in Yoga- something less run, more meditative. What kind of exercise helps your diet along? Sorry to get so chatty- talk to you later! |

Motivated!!
Hi everyone, I have been checking out this forum for a while and decided to join. I started Stillman's QWL on Monday and I am feeling great. I weighed yesterday and was down 2.4 lbs already
I was worried when I first started because I had tried Atkin's before and it didn't last very long. It may have been because I didn't pay attention to the fat? This one is easy to stick to so far because there aren't a lot of choices but I can cook things with different seasonings and stuff. I am hoping to follow this for atleast a month and then slowly add carbs in to continue losing until I reach my goal. I usually follow the following menu let me know if it looks good. B: 2 scr eggs 1 turkey sausage (Banquet brown and serve are yum) S: hard boiled egg or turkey slice and 1/2 slice red. fat cheese L: Chk or fish with 1/2 slice red. fat cheese S: 1/2 C cottage cheese D: Chk, fish, or pork tenderloin and sometimes chk broth S: string cheese I usually have 2-3 cups of coffee with 1/2 packet of sweet-n-low in each. I have a 1 liter water bottle that helps tremendously in making sure I get all my H2O. I only have to drink 2 1/2 bottles ![]() |

Hah, I did a day on stillman's and only went down .4 the next day. Then gave up. Then did another day and only went down .2. I keep telling myself if I keep it up, maybe it'll pick up; but since it doesn't seem like it's the eating plan, but just the fact that it's starvation/cutting calories, I can cut my calories while eating other foods and get the same results. Bleh.

well I am not an expert as this is my first time on the diet. However I am quite observant and have scoured and soaked up as much information and other peoples experiences as I can.
Based on that I would suggest to have at least 3 meals a day (and up to 6 smaller ones.) And a lot of people seem to report that they really don't lose well when they have ANY cottage cheese so you might want to try cutting that out. Maybe try some egg whites with an occasional yolk, lean ground round and other lean meats, tuna, tilapia, shrimp, and chicken. If you only eat those things I mentioned above I really don't think you would have to worry much about the calories. Because even if you did eat twice the normal serving of those things, your total calorie intake would still be far under the recommended 1200. just my take on things. hopefully some of that was useful to you? |

okay does anyone else feel like they are sleeping less?? I tried to go to bed on time tonight so I could wake up early to exercise before work but i laid in my bed for an hour tossing and turning so i got back on the computer.....still wide awake o_O
also i did kinda screw up tonight :/ I was REALLY hungry when I came homr from work, so I had some sausage and then a hamburger (plain, no bun or toppings), and then 2 eggs!!! but i felt SO guilty because of all that fat so i kinda said 'screw it' i probably won;t lose tomorrow now, anyway. so i had a few bites of a piece of bread, a few bites of man n cheese, 2 hard candies, and 2 lifesaver mints :/ booooo althoughh I was WAYY too anxious so i stepped on the scale (bad i know) and i weighed 148.6, which is only .6 higher than i was this morning. so if i don't lose, i'm fairly certain i'll maintaint. got my fingers crossed ![]() PS where did everyone go???? its so quite on this board |

okay so the reason i went off the diet today was becuase I hadnt prepared any food in advance. SO tomorrow I am going to be proactive!! I already cooked up 3 chicken tender things (about 5oz each) so here is my menu for tomorrow:
B: 2 eggs L: 1 Chicken Breast D: 1 chicken breast Snack (if I'm really hungry): 2 egg whites sorry I'm posting so much! but i really need to stay accountable. I'm going clothes shopping tomorrow too....eeek! |

This morning I started with 1 cup cottage cheese with cinnamon and splenda. I probably won't have cottage cheese for a while. I made up some super lean hamburger patties last night and will have one with a slice of cheese for lunch today. I have a cheese stick for a snack and I may or may not be having steak for dinner since it's my birthday.

njhoward, great job!!! that is EXCellenT progress
DOkay, so I am thinking that I should probably start on the meat and egg fast, which is basically the same thing as Stillmans except it's not low fat. The reason I say that is because I am just starting to diet/lose weight after several months of overeating ALL the time (expecially on carby and high sugar foods.) But anyway, I this is waht I am thinking........I can do high protein, highish fat, and low to no carb for a while (say somewhere between 2-4 weeks) and lose as much as I can. Then when I starts to slow down or plateau I will take it to Stillmans for maybe a week or two to get things moving again. Then maybe have 1-3 refeeding days and start that cycle again until I can get the weight off. I think this would work better as well, considering that I am moving into college in a week and it will be MUCH easier to get high protein, high fat meats at the cafeteria as opposed to lean meats, you know? okay so I would really LOVE to hear what ya'll think about this plan!!! ANDDD I was prepared to have gained this morning after the fatty meats last night + some carbs. BUT i actually LOST 1.4 pounds!!! very excited )) I guess I got lucky because I still need to be careful and not have the carbs. So to get to my end of the month goal I would need to lose 16.6 pounds in 24 days, which althoough that seems like a lot, i think it is TOTALLY doable if I stick to this diet properly. SO very excited!!!hope you all have a fabulous day!!!! |

Hmm
Good job on the loss kelfgg and thanks for the kudos.
![]() That plan should work its kind of like the original atkins isn't it? I don't know I'm pretty new to the low carb thing. The most important thing is that you find what works for you so that you can stick with it. Good luck |

Great job kelfgg and njhoward! I am so happy you are getting results!
It makes me excited for the end of the week.losingit_4realnow Enjoy your steak- you could even have cake if you want. In my opinion carbs don't count on your birthday!I did well yesterday... until dinner, then I sort of blew it. I know, it's a little early on to be blowing it- but at least I still didn't have any carbs! We had to go out and eat, and I couldn't stand the thought of another grilled chicken salad . I had non-breaded buffalo wings. Def. not low-fat, but tasty for sure!I can tell my body is trying to adjust to the diet- I've got terrible breath... this is normal with ketosis, so I'll just take it with a grain of salt, and mouthwash all day long. I am already feeling more energetic- I might even do a home yoga video today! Until I get up the courage to take a class... I hope your day goes well! See you soon. ![]() |

njhoward, it IS a lot like atkins induction. I think the only difference is that I will be keeping my carbs under 5 grams a day, wheras he says you can have up to 20 on induction. but I need more fat and more calories because I keep cracking! I just had a big bowl of cereal. I feel SO guilty for cheating. So I am trying to keep it positive and carb free the rest of the day and should be fine stepping on the scale tomorrow. I mean, anything under 2000 is enough for me to lose, really, after months of eating 4000-5000 calories a day (I had major binging problems, but I am really improving and taking care of myself now

Oh yeah, I remember eating shrimp on my 2nd day. I don't remember what else. Probably more cottage cheese. Go figure.. cottage cheese is the one food that would get me through a Stillman's with ease, and I should cut it out. My whine-meter is on high today. ![]() Okay, so I didn't start eating meat until a few months ago, so I may ask the dumbest questions. My boyfriend had to teach me what cuts are used for what and how to cook them since I hadn't eaten red meat since I was 12 and had gone vegetarian at 16. I'm 27 now. I just haven't paid attention to any of that stuff, lol. SO...what constitutes "lean" ground beef? We just buy the 80/20 stuff. I know there's 70/30... i'm not sure if that's the leanest? What about steaks? I'm not picky and I think a lot of the conventionally considered "good" steaks are overrated. Also, what seasonings do you guys use on your meats and eggs? That will help me as well. It's gotta be good since I can't have the cottage cheese to make up for it. Any dips or anything? When I eat my steak I usually use a garlic butter or a ranch dressing or something... what can I use instead that is Stillman friendly?I'm not one of the fats-phobic people, either, so its hard for me to stick to no/low fat stuff and stay on track. So, for clarification, Stillman would rather you have higher carbs by eating low/nonfat stuff vs. lower carbs and higher fat? Coffee-- I don't drink it regularly but it does help suppress my appetite when I'm cutting calories, as well as helps with a laxative effect. When I'm low carbing I use heavy cream. There are no other creamers/whiteners allowed on Stillman's right? So do you coffee-drinkers just go plain black with/without sweetener (splenda/stevia)? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to simplify this as much as possible so maybe i'll actually stick to it. |

I use Mrs Dash seasonings that are low sodium on all of my meats. For dipping I created a marinade that is 1tsp ketchup, 1/2 tsp worsteshire, & 1/2 tsp hot sauce. It is yum. 80/20 is lower fat than 70/30. You can get even lower fat than 80/20 too. When looking at meat the ratio is meat%/fat% so the 80 is the percent of meat and 20 is the percent of fat.
In my coffee I use 1/2 a packet of sweet-n-low. I found that this gives it the least amount of bitter taste. I am used to using flavored creamers so it was a hard switch. Good Luck |
