Changing, I'm having the same feelings about this plan when I'm out with friends. I haven't succumbed to the evil carbs when I've been out generally, but it is so much more difficult to face it head on than it is in my house where I've banished all of that (other than the stuff my son eats, which isn't appealing to me . . . yet). I feel like I need to get a grasp on this, though, since I don't want to revert to my old ways when I finally get to my goal. I know you can pull through this! You're doing so very well!!

Remykins, great job on keeping things in check with all the stress you're under!

Thanks, oddly enough today is a good day too... i am actually hungry today, but i cant seem to decide what i want to eat, nothing sounds edible at the moment. Dont know what is going on... but not really complaining as it is kind of keeping me in check.

p.s. i am in Europe if times seem funny
Hey girl!! HI!! And welcome. How was your first day of Stillman's? I know the feeling of just binging and eating. The day of facing the scale is a scary one! I am definitely an emotional eater. I hear your pain!! But take it one day at a time, and if you trip, just pick yourself up and keep goign!! you can do this!!

Oscarsmom - MAN, being social sucks on Stillmans! But we'll see in 12 days if the results are worth it! How are you doing so far? You did GREAT resisting the carb - GOOD FOR YOU! I'm so happy you're keeping on track and not going back to your older ways!!

Remykins! YAAAAAAAY! A good day!! What did you end up eating? How are you feeling these days?

Okay guys, today was 9/20, and I'm starting to drag my feet. We'll see how much longer I can keep this up.

Today, I ate:
- chicken breast
- protein shakes

I have two more weekends of this!!!

Yesterday i ended up having a big salad, picked at it for awhile with some bacon bits, turkey, cheese, veggies, etc.

Friday is my intense workout day, where i REALLY push myself, dripping with sweat so bad i have to wear a headband to keep it from dripping in my eyes. And i did it with flying colors... had a 50 calorie protein shake and a cube of cheese after.....
then had an Alaskan roll (only 4 small pieces) for dinner, with some fruity drink thing, a beer and ice milk for desert. I came in at around 1000-1200 calories i think... i burned a TON tho, so not sure how that works out. I guess when TOM is over i will either be staying the same, or get lower -im not weighing myself till the 15th when tom goes away. I am not counting watching what i eat for the next couple days, but i have been pleased with my choices and i am feeling much better.

I would give yourself an 'almost off' day, where you can eat anything that is legal during atkins induction might prevent burn out and recharge. Do you feel lik eyou are going to burn out? or that you are just saying 'this sucks' , lol.

Where is the newbie? she needs to check in... i am curious.

I'm thinking Remykins is on to something, Changing. If you're feeling like you're still dragging, would it make sense to eat a bit more, but still stay on plan? How much are you actually eating? It's kind of hard to tell, given that we have so little variety in our diets (i.e. "chicken breast and protein shake" could mean 1 chicken breast or 3 in a day...). Don't want to come off as someone telling anyone to "up the calories" by any stretch of the imagination; just hoping to figure out a way to get you some more energy!

Remykins, you've really turned it around fast! I think that when you're under as much stress as you are, the best anyone can do is be careful with their choices. Great job!

Things are going fine for me. Went to my weekly checkup today (I have an ultraconservative doctor when it comes to diets like this) and am down another 2.5 pounds this week. It's kind of weird, because it somehow doesn't feel real. I'm so used to diets not working that the fact that I'm actually losing weight is hard to believe. Bizarre.

good morning,
DAY 2
i am down 1 and half pounds..to 167.hooray.
had a terrible headache and felt quite sick yesterday.
just ate tuna for breaky, thats all there was..yuk
also on my second day without coffee...just thought i would stop it for a few days, which is probably why i have the headache.

yes changing,
it is one day at a time.
i hate bingeing but i am a lot better than i used to be a few years ago, when i suffered from a serious ED.
i am 'in recovery' and its a long road.
overeating on food now and then is a big leap forward from my old behaviours!

remykins i think your right about changing things up if your dragging.
one of the mistakes i make is i can force my self to eat very very on plan and then my body rebels.so if i need a bit more fat or salads or a coffee i will have it.

think i will take this slowly .
it would be good if i can be strict stillmans till i get back to my pre binge weight and then see...
if i can feel my body wants something else..i should think about doing an 'almost off' day ,which is a load better than bingeing.

if i am honest i know the difference between eating something because my body is saying it needs it and tipping into a binge.
i am rarely hungry when i start bingeing anyway ...it seems to have so little to do with food and more about how i manage my emotions...and another way i try to manage my emotions is by obsessing about my weight...but thats a whole other story-!!

in short; when i fill my mind with weight food diet etc. it means there is no room for looking at what is really bothering me.when i stuff my face with with food i sure as hell am hungry for something in my life that definitely is not food...
anyway i digress.
xxs

hey guys
sorry to hear about the food crashes...so know how that feels.
anyway i am at the end of
DAY 4 without bingeing.
i dont think i am really doing stillmans full on anymore as i only wanted to do it very short term.
its not great for me or my body for more than a few days.
so i am having medium fat meat ,veggies ,healthy stuff.but no coffee and no diet drinks etc.
and feeling alot better.i am mixing up a little IF...which seem to help with the bingeing.
my binges always happen in the evening when i get home from work .so the last couple of day i have done fast from lunch at about 3 till breakfast next morning...its made me feel a lot more relaxed and in control knowing i dont have to eat in the evening.
anyway there is some inspiring stuff on the IF thread..

oh and also i am down another pound!!!! 163 lbs.lower than my pre binge weight .

i hope you dont mind if i carry on posting here as i feel right at home with you guys.
seems there are a few emotional eaters here...

Hi Surrender, definitely keep posting! There aren't a lot of people who do "straight" Stillman's anyway. I add leafy greens and some nuts periodically myself.

Changing, hope you were able to get back on track today. Like you and Remykins, I kind of lost the thread yesterday. Back at it today, but managed to gain a pound eating NO carbs, but lots of lean ground beef. Felt kind of disgusting.

Oooh, it was a BAD one. I did not have the wisdom to follow your advice, and I ate all sorts of bad things. But today was a new day, and it was great. So day 1 is done.

Oscarsmom - I am back on track, thanks for asking! I'm glad to hear you're back at it. LOL at the disgusting ground beef. I LOVE ground beef! Do you like egg whites? Or chicken breast? Protein shakes? I bet you can find something that you like and that is Stillmans friendly!

hello everyone,
I am very interested in doing a combo stillman's and judd. For the Stillman's experts, does it throw you off to add a bit of salsa to your hamburger or chicken? Just trying to figure out how much I can handle on short term???

Also, how does everyone stay regular? I take Mag, but am thinking that I may need more supplementation. KWIM?

Thank you and congrats!

Remykins, I am sorry to hear about your puppy. What is wrong? If you don't mind me asking.

I love the combo of juddd and stillmans, that is how i transitioned over, now i am just casually doing low carb, but hard core doing juddd.

They are not sure what is wrong, intestinal/digestion dunno. I am trying to get him an appointment at the UofM (one of the best veterinary clinics), but they are booked, i am going to have to pull a few favors and slip him in later tonight i think. I fired his other vet last night basically... not a good situation. dumb ***** if you ask me.

Oh, Remykins, I'm sorry about your dog. I hope you can get into the Univ of MN clinic very soon. I had a similar problem with my lab (who luckily recovered) and it took forever to diagnose. Hopefully they can do some ultrasounds and other tests to figure it out. It's so scary going through this.

So, I'm following Remykins and dipping my toe in a JUDDD/Stillman combo, with down days on at least M and W, and perhaps Friday. I find myself drinking mostly protein shakes on those days anyway to make amends for the sins of the weekend and I'm hopeful that it will kill my bad habit (ahem, SF PEANUT BUTTER CUPS! SO definitely not a Stillman-friendly food). I've finally been able to move down to the 160 range, but I'm feeling like I will NEVER hit the 150s.

Sunday, welcome! And, if you figure out the "regularity" trick, please let me know. I've been struggling with this since going LC. BTW, I think salsa would be ok - regular ketchup is technically allowed, and it has sugar in it. Salsa seems like a healthier choice anyway.

Jen, welcome back. I'm glad you've recovered from your flu! Changing, I'm right there with you on the re-engaging on the plan front!

Shelby

hello everyone,

sorry about your dog remykins.

i am curious about JUDD...i dont know what it is ,i will have to look it up...

anyway i did IF today . 20 hours water fast and 4 eating window.
weight was the same this morning ...i did it more stillmans ish .
boiled eggs shrimp...a little salad and then a lamb curry bit later to stop my calories from dropping to low.
sitting in bed now about to go to sleep.its such a relief to not have to bother with dinner because of the fast.
i woudnt want to do it every night but perhaps few times a week..i will see.

got through another day at work without coffee.headache still bad from withdrawals.
i was saying to myself you are allowed coffee next time you go to Italy!..(think i might book a flight this weekend lol) but seriously it was more difficult than i realised to stop.

but more important for me than my weight or what i ate is the fact i am on
DAY 5 without bingeing.

bye till tomorrow
xxs

Thank you for the responses!

Remykins, I have a choc lab and a boxer and I can relate. It is very frustrating when they start acting like they don't feel well. I have to really watch my lab because she overeats... (kinda runs in the fam)

I will try and come on each day and give my stats. I have 30 more lbs to go and I would love to be able to finally move it on off. I am making my own salsa and can eat simply fish, chicken, steak or eggs as long as I can add some salsa in the mix.

Does anyone know how low your fats need to be in correlation to protein? I may need to drink low fat protein shakes to make the ratio work. I apologize, I have not read Stillman's book. I have read about every other diet book though!

Low fat or no fat.
Chicken, fish, turkey, not cooked in any fat, so no oil or butter. He says you can have whole eggs, except i beleive it works better if you only eat the whites as the center has carbs and fat. I wouldnt worry about the ratio, just eat all low fat meat all day every day and you shouldnt have a problem.

And your beef should be LEAN cuts, but im sure another cut would not hurt you too much.

Remy,
So beef is not going to be a good choice? I will try and stay with fish and chicken. I love shrimp also. I can see why our calories are so low because there is only so much protein that one can eat in a day.

I understand how you feel about the bikini, but if I were down to your size, I think I would feel better about it. Enjoy the water.

I drink Kombucha and just now at the office I was opening mine and it spewed everywhere. I spent some time trying to get it all mopped up before anyone came in. I guess next time, I better open it outside the bldg.

What is kombucha?

I would keep it to poultry, lean pork, seafood, and lean beef. You want to eleminate as much fat and carbs as possible in the diet. Your body burns in this order
Alcohol/sugars
carbs
dietary fat
body fat
protein

Atkins eliminates the sugars, and carbs... stillmans goes one step farther an eliminates the dietary fat, so all that is left is body fat to burn for energy. Theoretically.
