Hello all... I've been lurking in some Stillman's threads this past week and I'm jumping on the bandwagon today! I've been on Induction for about a month now and have lost over 15 pounds or so (can't be sure because I refused to get on the scale when I started!). The past week has been a little challenging because I attended a dinner party where there was nothing but Chinese food available and I ate some shrimp and lobster sauce and picked out some chicken pieces from the chow mein platter. I know the food wasn't exactly legal, but I didn't have a backup plan, so I rolled with it the best I could. I felt hunger pangs in the following days (whereas I had none previously) and consequently snacked on cashews almost every day this past week... bad, bad, bad! But, better the nuts than cookies and other no-no foods. In fact, I kept losing weight... albeit only 2 lbs this past week instead of the 5 lbs the previous week. So, I'm still motivated and I know that if I really "get back into it" I will keep on losing...
My son's baptism is taking place in 13 days... this event is the reason I wanted to drop the excess weight... I know everyone will be whispering about my weight. So, I'm hoping that Stillman's will help me lose at least another 10 lbs before then. Good luck to all of us! Thanks for posting your results... it's very motivating! |

mariadonovan - you can totally lose those 10 lbs in 13 days! Day 5 for me and I'm down another 1.4 lbs for a total of 9 lbs. Yesterday I ate: 1 HB egg 1 SF jello 1 tilapia filet 1/2 cup ground beef 1 chicken breast Aside from this really nasty breath (yuck...if I breathed on someone they'd probably pass out lol), I feel great. Gonna keep on keepin' on. ![]() Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day!! ![]() |

Thanks for the welcomes and encouragement, ladies! I think your losses are so motivating (knowing this plan works) and I hope I can join you with the same kinds of results! I just got back from a short walk to get some skim milk and FF cottage cheese. Gotta stock the pantry accordingly for success!
Question: how many eggs are okay to eat per day? I had 2 HB eggs this morning for brekkie. I had a chicken breast for lunch and will have water-packed canned tuna and/or a burger patty with some salad leaves for dinner. I'm eyeing a HB egg for a snack... yes or no? |

Hi Maria,
Yes is a really good idea to stock your fridge accordingly at the beginning of the program, and I also threw away all the containers with foods that I can not eat and I could not freeze, just in case I have an urge to cheat =) I don't have the book so I don't know the answer to your question unfortunately, I hope someone else is able to help. I know that on the 14 days shape up program you are allowed to 2 eggs per day max. but that is a different program, so not sure on QWL. I would not eat more than 3 per day to be honest, is too much cholesterol!! Let's wait and see if one of the experienced 'Stillman-ers! has the answer =) |

Thanks, sassymanal!
However, it looks like I messed up a bit. I don't know what made me think it was legal, but I bought some Kraft Singles (Light, they didn't have Fat Free) and I had 3 slices when I got home because I was so hungry. They're 50 cals, 2.5 g fat and 2 g carbs each. But I haven't eaten much else today, so I'm hoping it won't put me off track too much. BLEH!! Oh, well, live and learn. Hope everyone has a great evening and wakes up a little bit lighter on the scale! |

My total loss in 5 days is 8.37 pounds (3.8 kilos). Not bad =) Hope everybody is having a good day!! Izzy |

Good morning! Izzy, that's still a loss, so don't despair... you're doing great! I weighed myself first thing this morning and I'm still at 175. So far, I've had my morning cup of coffee with a splash of skim milk and Splenda; 1/2 cup of ff cottage cheese; and a HB egg. Not feeling hungry right now and I'm drinking my first glass of water at the moment. I'm having friends over tonight, so it will be a test of willpower since they're bringing over some take-out Thai food for dinner.
Have a great day everyone! |

Izzy - you're doing fantastic! 0.8 lbs is almost a whole pound, that's awesome, so don't be disappointed!
Maria - I have faith in you...you're gonna resist that temptation tonight and afterwards you'll feel so good about yourself that you made the right choice! Just keep your goal in mind, and try to fill your tummy with on plan food before they come over so you'll be less tempted. ![]() As for me...day 6 today and I'm down another 1.2 lbs for a total of 10.2 lbs. I had a hard time falling asleep last night because for some reason my hunger came back and my stomach was growling big-time. I kept getting up to drink water hoping it would go away, then I had a SF jello and that seemed to do the trick. But for a little bit I was fantasizing about a nice big salad with lots of cheddar, bacon and blue cheese! Thankfully I don't have any of those items in my house so I wouldn't have a chance to sabotage myself. In fact, all I have available is on-plan food so there's no temptation. I actually gave all my "bad" food away to my mom, who has never been larger than a size 6, so she doesn't mind the extra "junk". ![]() |

everyone! It is so nice to have everyone here and posting. Congrats on all the losses, most diets don't show losses of almost a pound in one day! You should be so proud of yourself. I have been out of town for almost a week and will be going back out of town in about 12 days. I am attempting that many cheat-free days in the hopes to get about 10 pounds off. I will stick as close as I can while on vacation, I really don't want to sabatoge myself. I think the hardest thing is keeping the water intake up when you are out of town. I am going to focus on doing that and see if that helps! KUTGW everyone!

WannaB, that's great news...you're just melting away! Good on you for having only on-plan food in the house. I didn't know that SF jello was okay on QWL. Will have to pick some up for those inevitable weak moments.
I do plan on having on-plan food ready tonight before my friends come over with their yummy Thai food. So far, I've been doing okay when faced with my former demons (sugar, noodles and other hi-carb goodies). I just keep focused on that baptism in less than 2 weeks! I still have to find a dress to wear, but I'm putting it off until this weekend so that I can lose a little more weight. C'mon, Whoosh Fairy! Later, girls! |

May I join you, too?
Hi all,
I've also been lurking the Stillman's forum for some days now. I am finally getting up the courage to get myself back on track. I have the QWL book and I have read through it a bit before. I picked it up again this weekend because I NEED to do something to get my diet back under control. I'm really hoping that checking in with you guys, I can get myself motivated to get w/ the program and stick with it until I get to my goal. So I'm hoping to get on board tomorrow morning. I have to run out to the store for a few supplies yet today. I'm also planning to read more of the books tonight. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. I'll be checking in again tomorrow. C

Welcome aboard, thn1! I look forward to sharing/supporting on the board during this journey of ours. I think it helps a lot to be able to "talk" to others about our goals, challenges and triumphs.
Good luck to you with QWL! |

Newbies, welcome to our forum and to this WOE!
Everyone's doing great! Keep up the gerat work! Folks, I've got a question. I've already asked it in the general stillman's section, but it's not that active so I ask again: I know in his book Stillman never said you should count calories on QWL: 'just don't stuff yourself and eat until you're satisfied...". But since it's highly ketogenic diet most people are in such deep ketosis on this diet that they feel fine eating only 600-800 calories a day. Now, I'm not sure how such strict calorie restriction effects weight loss. On the one hand it should make you lose weight rapidly since it's so much lower than BMR, but on the other hand isn't it supposed to put you in starvation mode and slow down your metabolism and as a result slow down your weigh loss? So my question is do I need to count calories? Not only because I'm afraid to eat too little, but because I'm afraid to eat to much as well. I've heard stillman advised to not go over 1200 cals daily. So what do you think: should I count calories? If yes, then how many calories is too little and how many calories is too much? Do you count calories, if yes how many do you eat dailey? |

Hi all!
I don't get it, how much weight do you expect to lose in one week. I just read someone say she only lost 16 lbs in her third week, that is astonishing. If I lost 16 lbs in a month I would be thrilled. I have thyroid disease and to lose a lb would be great. All of you are doing so great and you are not happy, I just don't get it. |

Hiya everyone,
Wow wannabe, you are doing great! I'm so jealous! My weight loss seems to have slowed down now, only 0.6 pounds today =( But hey, at least the scale is still moving. My total loss since starting Stillmans is 9 pounds (in 4 days as technically I only started Stillmans last Saturday) I must admit I did cheat a little bit yesterday with some butter and cream cheese so I could make a crepe for breakfast and salmon and cream cheese for lunch as I was getting too bored. I figured it was better to "cheat" a little rather than go completely off track. Even with the "cheating" my total calories came around 829 cal. for the day. And even with the cheating, I still lost a little weight, lol. So is back on track today for me! However I think I will need to take something to help me with constipation, is anybody else having this problem? What should I take? I tried psyllium last time I was on Atkins and didn't seem to help at all. I am also drinking tons of water and that is not enough. Thanks for your suggestions, keep it up girls!! Izzy |

Morning all, I am down 1/2 a pound, which I am thrilled with. Two more weeks of school for the kids and then off on vacation. I really need a break.
longstocking - If you have the book then look at the calories that are allowed for your height and don't go above that. It seems like I read that in his book somewhere I just can't remember. Try that for a week and see if you are still losing. I would think that you should be able to eat that many calories without seeing a gain. I have never tried it but it seem logical to my crazy self. ![]() Sensible ~ have you found any good recipes to share? or just the same old stuff? I have been looking for the cookbook in thrift stores I just haven't been successful. Dr. Stillman also indicated that your level of waste disposal would diminish, so I really hadn't given it much thought. I don't go as often but I don't really seem to feel any extra pressure, bloating, achy etc.... Bathroom talk, gotta love it ![]() Good luck to everyone today! Cat |

I am getting a bit more bloated every day, it has been 3 days since i ummmm ya. I know that is more than likely effecting my weight slightly as well. At my size every ounce counts. Today is the first day i am really getting frusterated with it. |

I hear ya, Remykins! I'm in the same boat. Plus, I just realized that I'm expecting my period, so I'm wondering if that's having an effect on my weight loss. I've been darned good these past 2 days on QWL and I finally saw a 0.8 lb loss this morning, so I'm now at 174.2 lbs. I haven't had any salad greens since starting QWL, so I might have some at lunch today and see if that "helps things along"... :-)
Have a great day everyone and KUTGW!! |

Thank you all for the wonderful welcomes!
Remy, that's a good suggestion about checking in 3 x's a day. I'll have to try and see if I can check in more often. Congrats to the losers! ![]() So I got started this morning. I've only had chicken breast (bbq'ed this over the weekend) but plan on some boiled eggs soon. I'm fighting a toothache today so eating isn't on the top of my priority list right now. Little about me: I'm 33, will be 34 in July. I've been heavy my entire life, at my heaviest I was 418lb. I had wls in 06' got to a low of 185. Life took many turns and now, 2 re-locations in the last yr later, I've had an almost 30lb regain. I'm more then disgusted w/myself for not taking care of me through it all. I've been trying different things here and there but have never stuck with any of it. I want this time to be different, that's why I decided to join you all. I've finally realized that I need help and want to help and encourage others. Well I'm off to get my eggs. Hope you all are having a good day. C |
