Wishing Cat and Tricia the very best with their starts today. I'm still hanging in there on Day 26, though I had one mini-binge 2 weeks ago at night. I'm amazed by my lack of appetite. I do cheat occasionally only with 1 or 2 grape tomatoes and some string cheese (1 gm carbo, 5gm fat). daily ........

Hi everyone!

I need Help! For some reason I haven't lost a pound since I started Stillmans like everyone else has.

I've been on Atkins for 1 month, cheated on mothers day, then started stillmans on Monday. Eggs for breakfast, baked chicken/tuna/or deer burger for lunch and dinner.

For a snack, I did eat part of beef jerky with no carbs and very little fat. Any idea why I'm not losing? Do you think my body needs the fat to lose? But then why has everyone else lost?

Also...was curious...Back in the early seventies, about 40 years ago, they didn't have the fat free, sugar free products available. I wonder if Stillman was alive today, he would allow the fat free/carb free sauses?

kihayes- I think you need to go back to basics and do not eat anything that's not on the list. How much do you have to lose?

So you think the two bites of beef jerky would really stall my results that bad? I'll never do that again, but from what I seen, eggs, baked chicken, and deer meat (lean beef) are all part of the basics.

Wow are the only left? It seems like there were so many on board in previous months. I'm really new but maybe its because everyone lost all their weight and moved on?

I want to loose my last 10 pounds and I know just like the beginning of any diet, the first 10 are the fastest and easiest. The last 10 is the hardest! I should say I want to lose the last of the inches, because weight really can be fickle. Its all about the way your clothes fit, etc.

So I thought this diet would be the best to get the last part of this long diet road to an end... and for good!

It worked for me so well in the beginning. I am trying to get the last weight off and it's coming off slow. Maybe there is someone else here who doesn't have much weight to take off?

Sounds like your in the same boat as me. How much are you losing? In atkins, they say that some people upped there fat to 75-80% and started losing again! Its all so confusing on what works with who.

I figure I will give it a full week and see my results are. Maybe the first three days were because my body was going into shock and made it stall.

I have beef jerky here and there but I tend not to lose as much on those days - I figure the high sodium content makes me retain a little water.

I use sugar free/ carb free items that weren't available when Stillman wrote the book. And I'm still losing, so I don't think they're hurting me. As long as they aren't high fat, or sodium, ya know?

Down 12 lbs so far but I'm cycling off Stillman's for three days - back to it Monday. I need some fiber if ya know what I mean! Heh

For those of you who cycle on and off, what is your diet like on your days off? So far I'm just eating healthy - Low fat/ mostly fruit and veggies and whole grain.

I cycled off this month and keep it lowcarb. meat, cheese, eggs, nuts, fruit and salad. I don't lose on those days but it's fine by me. If i were to eat high carbs on those days then my weight will shoot up real quick!! I have learned my lesson now. I try to stick to stillmans as long as possible and then go off for a day or two.

Nice work everyone, you're doing great!

I have a question for those who cycle off stilman's from time to time. Do you stall if you start eating more fat, but continue keeping carbs low. Like, what if I do stillman's for a week or two and then go back to atkins induction for a couple of days with less then 10 g of carbs. How do you think, whould I stall, or even worse - gain? I mean, it won't break the ketosis, right? And what if I won't eat too many calories, just up the fat percentage a little?

Hey!

Manal: yeah, I guess you're right! I never know until I try! Btw, I, too, have troble sticking to the plan long term...

sloppail: Good luck! And I think it's your decision about the shakes! Some people choose to follow the book to the "T", some include low-carb, low-fat foods that were not availlable when the book was written. Be aware that on stillman's your carb intake is supposed to be close to zero. So if your shakes have carbs, I wouldn't include them. Maybe you'll keep losing, but much slower than without them. But like Manal said, you never know until you try!

Hi Longstocking! The shakes are 2 g of carb each, and 1 g sugar. I guess I'll see how I do with them...if the rest of my menu is close to zero carb, then it should be ok hopefully. We shall see. I'm off to boil some eggs...

Sorry I have been MIA, I have had a lot of personal things that have happened and it has taken its toll. I recommitted today and hope that I can weather the storms that seem to be all encompassing as of late. I haven't really gained too much, just back at 137 where I left off, I suppose it could be worse.

I am sticking to it for at least 45 days then see where I am at, wouldn't it be great to lose too much after 45 days???

sassymanal ~ on the loss, KUTGW

sloppail ~ I would agree with everyone else on the shakes, you need to see what it does for you/against you.

longstocking ~ I don't think the extra fat should cause a gain but you have to see how your own body reacts, everyone is so different. Just keep an eye on the scale so you don't gain back all that you lost.

sammykay ~ me too We just have to get back on the wagon!

EloraRose ~ I only added veggies/fruits on my off days, I can't do the gluten it gives me migraines. I am hoping to maintain with 4 stillman days, 3 veggie/fruit added days, not sure how it will work out yet. I did just get Atkins for life book to see what it has to say.

Kihayes ~ I would think it is the sodium that is unfortunately retaining the water, but with only two or three bites, who knows?? I have never had it stall me out...but I exercise so that helps get rid of water.

Hope everyone has a great Stillman's day.

KUTGW eveyone!

You guys are right, I looked at the package and the soduim was over 1200! Wow! I threw it away.

Well...I almost made it a week! I went out of town where we had to eat out alot. excuses, excuses, I know. I did so good M-F, then saturday I had didn't have much carbs, but alot of fat! Then Sunday gave in to chips and salsa, and fat again! So since last Monday, I lost 1 pound!

I would like to go a full week to see if it really works or not on me.

I got a few things at the store that I've seen other people eat;
FF hot dogs
FF american cheese
Turkey bacon, 1.5 fat, 0 carbs
egg beaters

Has anybody eaten any of these things without problems?

Its almost impossible to have zero carbs and zero fat, so I was wondering, do you try to have a cap of fat or carbs? Like maybe less than 5 carbs, less than 10 fat or something?

Any help would be great!

I have eaten all of those things except the egg beaters without too much trouble. Make sure you aren't eating too many calories, which usually isn't the case with this diet. I only find I eat a lot of calories the first few days.

I have a hard time trying to eat enough calories. Usually under 1000. I know that if you don't eat enough calories your body can stall as well. Dieting is a HUGE balancing act!

You're right, kihayes. It's very difficult to eat a completely carb free diet. As I mentioned above, I get a handful of carbs from string cheese and grape tomatoes. I note that even canned shrimp has carbs!!!!!

Stillman and Atkins aren't great diets with which to incorporate a "day off". It takes awhile for your body to get into a ketotic state from limiting your carbohydrate intake. If you then blow the diet for 24 hours, you have to work at getting back into ketosis.

lustforthemoment: when you say 26 days cheat free, are you talking about 26 QWL diet days?? like just ff meat, eggs, and cottage cheese?? if so wow, i'm impressed! the most i could manage was 9 days. out of curiosity, how much weight have you lost in the past 26 days, and how do you feel physically?

thanks, and nice job!

Great job cat

What did you eat yesterday if you don't mind me being nosey!

I'm scared to weigh myself because i get discouraged and may stop dieting all together. I'm not losing, but I don't want to gain either.

al1114, I only WISH that I could have 26 days "cheat free". I've lost 18 lbs over the last 31 days with 2 "cheats". Otherwise, I follow a modified Stillman with around 5-10 gms of carbohydrate daily, primarily with string cheese and grape tomatoes.

All I had was a lot of steak...I am not a good example when it comes to eating and don't promote my eating because I eat only once day, which causes me to catch @$%# for it. I take vitamins and drink a lot of water. My WOE isn't for everyone. I typically eat a big dinner and get all my calories in one shot. I don't eat every day this way, it just depends on my hunger level. I only eat if I am hungry, not just because of what the clock says.
