QWL Rules as posted in another thread

THE QUICK WEIGHT LOSS METHOD

This is a severe form of ketogenic diet.It is not easily
sustainable for the long term. It may be useful in breaking
plateaus and in those too impatient to allow their bodies
to take the fat off gradually at its own pace.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT
MENTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

Eat all you wish of the following foods to satisfy hunger.
If you eat until you've satisfied your hunger but haven't stuffed
yourself, and then feel hungry before the next meal, you can eat
again, but only from the foods listed here. In fact, you're better
off eating smaller meals 6 times a day than 3 bigger meals as is
the general custom. But you limit yourself to this extensive list
of high protein foods.

1. LEAN MEATS, with all possible fat trimmed off. Includes beef,
lamb, veal. Eat it broiled, boiled, OR baked. No butter,
margarine, oil or other fats are to be used either in
the cooking or the eating.

2. CHICKEN AND TURKEY with all skin removed. Broiled, boiled
or roasted, with no butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

3. ALL LEAN FISH & SEAFOOD No butter, margarine, oil or other fats permitted in
preparation or serving. You may have cocktail sauce, horseradish,
ketchup-in moderation.

4. EGGS. Hard boiled preferably. Also soft or medium boiled eggs,
poached, or any type of fried eggs made in non-fat, non-stick pans
without butter, margarine, oil or other fats.

5. COTTAGE CHEESE, FARMER CHEESE, POT CHEESE made
with skim milk and no whole milk.

6. AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER PER DAY, absolutely essential
(10 ounce glasses). As much as you want of coffee and tea without
cream, milk or sugar. You may sweeten with non-caloric sweeteners
to taste. Enjoy all the club soda, vichy and non-caloric carbonated
beverages you wish, as often as desired.
You may use common seasonings such as salt, pepper, spices,
other herbs, cocktail sauce, horseradish, ketchup. Don't use any creamy or oily sauces
or dressings. No mayonnaise, no salad dressings, no oils, no fats.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED-IF IT’S NOT LISTED HERE, DON’T EAT IT OR DRINK IT!

The eight <10 ounce> glasses of water daily are in addition to
whatever coffee, tea and non-caloric carbonated beverages you
drink. This is an integral part of the specific internal process put
into motion by the Quick Weight Loss Diet. Much more of your
body fat is burned up than with most other diets. This leaves in
it’s wake the waste products or ashes of burnt fat. [ketone bodies]
They must all be washed out of your system by water which also
serves to relieve any unpleasant dryness and taste in the mouth.

Note: ketone bodies are not ashes, they are the by-product
of incomplete burning of fats.Ketones are to fat as charcoal is to
wood. Ketones can be burned for fuel by your body. Most people
have feedback loops to protect against ketosis-acidosis.

It is desirable to take vitamins daily with the diet, such as a
once-daily vitamin and mineral tablet.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT
MENTIONED IN THE PRECEDING LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

If you disregard the instructions and eat regular carbohydrates
or sugar or alcohol, you will stop burning up stored fat as
efficiently. Even one indiscretion, one mouthful of ice cream, for
example, will set you back a day or two.

You will lose the most weight on The Quick Loss Diet, most quickly,
if you eat only to satisfy your hunger pangs rather than to gratify
a desire to eat just for the pleasure of eating.

This diet has practically no residue (fiber). Therefore it is likely
that you may not have a bowel movement for a few days, although
not necessarily so. In any case don't be alarmed by any such lack.
[note: extra vitamin C or milk of magnesia is helpful in some cases]

Hi all. Last month I was able to break my stall of about 5 months doing Stillman's. I lost 10 pounds the last half of March, and I'm hoping to lose more this month.

I'm hoping to take off some weight quickly and get my carb & sugar cravings under control after a few months of carb overload. I have had great success with Stillman's in the past and I know that once you get into the diet your hunger is under control and the weight seems to melt.

WOE: Stillman QWL- Higher fat every 4th day.
Start Date: January 2009
Hello, I have been reading this forum for quite some time and figured I should register and say hello.

I did stillman's qwl a couple years ago and lost about 20 pounds to hit my goal weight. Since then I have had a hysterectomy, quit smoking and gained almost 60 pounds.

I stared stillman again in January but have a nasty habit of doing it a couple weeks then quiting....

I have now started back up. I am curently doing Stillman QWL and having a higher fat intake every 4th day so I dont go into starvation mode and I feel I get to eat more than normal. So far I am down 18 pounds since January, 8lbs of this was just the last week. I am hoping that by posting here I can keep the momentum going.

Hi, posting to subscribe. I'm experimenting with several diets at the same time (all VLC) - I have a very low fat intake most days, but there are others when I eat/cook with fat, but I continue to chose lean meats. I'm also doing a 24-30 hr fast one day a week, and alternating my calorie intakes on other days (JUDDD) to keep my average calorie intake per day at just below 1000. This means that on the low calorie days I follow Stillmans repetition diets as they are very low carb and low calorie. I'll keep checking in here, even though I'm not strictly Stillmans. Hope you all have success!

Hi All!
I started stillman's last month and have lost 15 pounds. 25 total! I'm hoping we can keep each other motivated!
I was able to get an old copy of the book on Amazon, and it really helped to motivate!
I love his line "Nobody complains of losing wieght too quickly!" and that is why this diet is for me! I need RESULTS to keep at it!
I'm hoping to lose 20 more this month!

Hi guys! Everyone motivated to start another Stillman's week?????
I bounced a little this weekend. I got to see my hubby (Air Force-has been gone all year) and stayed low carb all weekend, but def not Stillman's, but I didn't gain anything substantial, so onward and downward.
Have a great day!

Hey everyone. I am back from my trip (again) and only lost 2 pounds this week. That makes 38 pounds since 1/5/09. I NEED to lose 3.5 pounds a week to make my goal, so while I am happy to see any loss I want more!!! It was too hard to do stillmans while on my trip but I did stay strict atkins which was good.
Anyway... starting today... back on the treadmill for me. I am hoping this will help up the weekly loss.

Hi everybody, I'd like to join your group. I've been on these boards for quite a while, so there isn't much that's new to me! Except that I've never joined a challenge group.

This is the reason why I'm here: My DD2 is getting married on April 24. I have known since July 2007 that this wedding was coming, but did I do anything about my weight? Not really. Oh, I'd follow a plan, lose 7 or 8 pounds and then something (me) would derail it, over and over again. It's my own fault.

So anyway, my name is Kathy, I'm 48, 5' 5" and as of this morning I weighed 192.2. I started the QWL today, and (hope this isn't TMI) have been in and out of the bathroom so much already! I know that's a good thing, but from where I sit at work, the bathroom is at the TOTAL OPPOSITE END of the building. I've had to do some pretty fast walking!

Hi KSS!
Welcome back from your trip! That is so incredible! 38 since January! That is a BIG number! Do you have a goal date? Is there something coming up that is your motivation?
Hi Kathy! Even though the wedding is coming up fast, I guarantee that you will totally look better and feel better by the big day. Just getting the bloat out and some fat off makes such a huge difference. Are you fitting in your dress already?
Slatman is going to tear this up I can tell! No fair! You are doing great and are going to keep me motivated! I can tell!
My motivation is that my husband and I have been separated this whole year and he will be back at the end of May. I'm sure we will be moving to where ever the Air Force sends us next, and I don't want to start out looking like this!
Stay in touch so I don't feel alone on here!
I made a roast and sliced it up and that is pretty much all I have eaten all day. Little slices here and there. It is amazing how fast this diet takes away your appitite!

I WEIGHED THIS MORNING: 187.4!!!!

4.8 LBS OVERNIGHT!!! I sure it's probably all water, but I'll take it!

KSS - yes, I'm getting A LOT of exercise! I'm glad I can wear tennis shoes at work!

BethyZ - yes, I fit into my dress already. But it would be nice if it were a bit looser, or even a bit baggy!

CONGRATS EVERYONE!

You are all doing so well. I did really good yesterday, finally! I am too afraid to step on the scale, which is so unlike me I am usually obsessed. I have been eating too much and all the wrong things.

MUNKA ~ I am always in the bathroom too, but I think after a while it will subside a little bit. I am sure you will lose the weight really quickly, that dress is going to slip right off of you.

SLATMAN ~ Always good to see your posts, you will no doubt make your goal!

KSS - Welcome back, congrats on sticking to something while out of town

Bethy ~ It works really fast for me as far as losing the appetite. I just don't always have the staying power.

Hope everyone else is doing well, if you aren't... don't worry I think all of us have fallen off the wagon at least once.

Wow, looks like you guys are doing great! Congrats.

I really want to join in, too. I had planned to start Stillman's in early January but ended up doing a zero carb, high fat diet instead... All you were allowed to eat was FATTY MEAT and nothing else. I know, it sounded crazy to me too, but it actually did work! I went from 179 to 166 in less than a month, but I was so disgusted by having to eat fatty meat all the time that I couldn't stick to it anymore. Blech, I still feel nauseated just thinking about it. Long story short, I decided to try to "eat healthy" and continue losing weight, and I gained everything back within 2 weeks... sigh. I've been totally off the wagon for over a month now, just eating everything because I feel so helpless.

Soooo, now I'm going to go back to my original plan, Stillman's. I'm going to start next Monday (April 13th) and hopefully have great results like all of you seem to be having. I knew I should've just done this in the first place... I'm sure I would've been a lot better off because I love eggs and lean meat, just not fatty meat; it's disgusting. I'm also planning to do P90X (that crazy home exercise program) for 3 months. Actually that's my main goal right now--to just stick to Stillman's and P90X from April 13th to July 13th. We'll see what happens, LOL.

Sorry for blabbing so much. I look forward to next week.

Good morning ladies!
weight: 206

B: Scrambled eggs
L: Burger patty
D: tba

Exercise: 1 hour 85-95% max ..got interrupted last night with a huge rattlesnake a couple feet away .. gotta remember to close doors this time of year

no races this weekend just taxes and work meh...

First two days really tough... cravings... now appetite is gone smooth sailing

Skinny Julie: welcome... lean meats are the way to go.. you just have to get into ketosis and you won't feel like eating much of anything.. The water is not optional.. it transports the burned fat away.. eggs are your friend on this plan...

Don't get caught up in the "cheese"....... folks that start on the cheese tend to go overboard and not lose the maximum they could.

The best plan for the long term losers on here has been 10 days on and 2 days off.. not a carb binge but a regular atkins plan for two days... (lot's of veggies etc)

p.s. don't worry about "quantity" of food the first 48 hours or fat content
your appetite will be huge so you have to satisfy it so you don't want the junk.
soon your appetite will decrease and the plan will be easy.

Great job with the exercise ladies! This is a huge step in raising your metabolism. Many of us destroyed our metabolisms with years of yo yo dieting... it is tough as hell but you can do it. Add 10% intensity or distance a week and you will be amazed at where you are in 12 weeks. If you do this plan properly your energy will be down for a day or two but will start to actually increase as your body adjusts to being a fat burning machine.

Slatman's got it so right! The first couple of days just eat no carbs, but eat so you are not starving! After 2-3 days, cut way back as your apetite allows. The cravings totally go away. I am a ho ho girl, and it doesn't even sound appealing anymore. And CHEESE forget about it! This plan pretty much makes you not go to the bathroom as it is (low residue he calls it!) and the cheese just makes things worse. Stay away from it.
Julie- I'll be watching for you to post next week as you begin your journey to the new you!
Cat-I hate the scale as well, but it keeps me in check. I'm obsessive about the ketosticks though!!!!!! The darker the better! Keeps me way motivated!
Big shout out to Kathy!!!!!!! Woo Hoo! That's what makes you keep going! I love the big losses you get with this diet!

Have a great evening all!

My appetite is pretty much gone now and it's getting easier to say no to the goodies here at work. It's a relief to not have to think about food. I actually get used to eating the same things. What does everyone eat the most of here? For me it's grilled chicken.

Good morning and hello everybody!

Thanks for the encouragement, Cat! I would just LOVE it if I didn't have to buy one of those spanx things to wear under my dress!

Thanks for the shout out, Bethy!

I haven't cheated once, and even tho it's only been a couple of days that is a HUGE achievement for me! And not having any alcohol helps A LOT, I'm sure! My husband and I have a pretty active social life, but I am learning how to say "soda with lemon and lime" vs my old stand by of "vodka & soda with lemon & lime."

I didn't weigh this morning, but my oldest daughter (who doesn't know I'm doing QWL) said to me "Mom, you look like you're really losing weight!" I just smiled and said "Thanks! I'm trying!" Maybe I lost a lot of bloat in my face and the top of my stomach? That's where I always see a gain first, so maybe that's where the loss is first!

Everybody have a good day!!!

Made it through another day...hopefully I can keep this motivation up. Have no idea what the scale is saying I haven't stepped on it yet. Maybe I will on Sunday morning, not so obsessed with it now that I am working out.

SkinnyJulie ~ Glad to have you here! I started Chalean Extreme two weeks ago, which was a good thing, it, but I had to figure out how to adjust to the extra appetite. I made a lot of bad choices those first two weeks All I could think about was food, but I think I have finally got the carb demon at bay I am just eating a little bit more often now, actually whenever I want. I second all that was said about cheese, appetite, etc... it will get easier after a few days.

Jenn~ I don't like fish, so I eat beef, chicken, eggs and cottage cheese. A SF Jell-O if I feel like it but that isn't very often. I eat Kosher hotdogs and HB eggs often because they are so quick. I go in spurts with what I want, but always on plan. I am sure I will be eating a ton of HB eggs with all those colored eggs

Congrats to everyone! Keep up the good work.
