What do you eat? Would love some menus, am thinking of joining....

Hi All - First, thanks for reading this. I've been doing Induction level carbs for about 3 1/2 weeks now (though I do throw in more almonds than I should now and then, which I shouldn't but I think it actually helps....) and in the last 2 1/2 weeks I've juggled the same POUND back and forth and that's it. A pound loss in 2 1/2 weeks?! It's so depressing.

Anyhow, this weekend being valentine's day I know i'm going to have some wine or scotch or something (my treat for not having any booze these last three weeks) and steak (with fat!) but I'm thinking that on Sunday I might start this, the QWL....my question is what are some sample menus? I'm also confused b/c I see people mention bacon, but isn't that too fatty for this plan? How many cups of lowfat cream cheese could you have? And since non-caloric sweeteners are okay, could I mix a couple splenda packs in teh cream cheese?

sorry for the ignorance. I've never done this before and have been reading and reading and now my eyes are crossed and i'm still confused. I just desperately need something to work!

And...a shot in the dark here....but does anyone have wine or anything with this and still have it work? I'm sure the answer is no, sniff sniff, but i LOVE my wine and after not losing much at all while abstaining, I'm wishing I could add it back in....

you may want to look at Stillmans14 Day Shape Up....it's kinda like induction without the fat.

it's probably best to keep alcohol to a minimum when trying to lose weight....it's not forever.

there is no cream chz on this diet....although you could probably sub FF cream chz for the cottage chz as long as you stay in the 80 to 90 calorie range. and yes, splenda is fine ....I recommend the liquid kind (no carbs)

bacon is fine if its lowfat...I don't use it because of the sodium.

this is a strict diet...but it works. Atkins works for a week or two then stops and stalls, stops and stalls. and it's very food focussed....too much food porn. it's a binger's nightmare. and I AM a binger.

this works for me.....in fact, it's the only thing that works for me...it's simple and takes the focus off food. you eat to live then go about your business....and it works!! I find it easy to eat out...as long as there is lean meat and salad...no problem.

I have some wine I got for Xmas, but I haven't tried adding it yet...Iam losing and I'm afraid to mess it up.

good luck!

Thank you! And I actually meant cottage cheese, not cream cheese....though I guess I had cream cheese on the brain. lol.

And I read too no deli meats, but then have seen a lot of mentions of coldcuts etc. What's your advice on that? or hot dogs?

stillman warns against use of processed meats because of the sodium content.

technically you are not supposed to with the exception of beef hot dogs and bacon in small amts only. not sure why, since those are high in sodium and fat also.

I just don't use them. I eat alot of "soup" ....basically meats cooked in broth made with lite salt or salt sub.

for me, I find it easier just to stick to the list of foods allowed ( except for high sodium ones) with little variation. I DO add a little canola oil, about a teaspoon, and I take an omega 3 sup. and I use Almond Breeze or Soy Slender instead of milk.

Wait a minute. I have been eating the Boars head turkey sliced from the deli counter. Does that have a lot of sodium too?

I don't really know what a "cold cut" is. I thought cold cut means something breaded?
like a cutlet?

please explain.

"cold cuts" are cold cuts of meat. usually refers to bologna, deli roast beef, deli turkey etc.

actually I DO use the deli turkey sometimes because of the convenience.... but these are processed meats so be mindful of the extra sodium.

*** Boars Head IS the best, isn't it? yum.

hi! Okay, just went grocery shopping and got lowfat cottage cheese because I saw it was made with skim milk...is that okay? or does it have to be nonfat? Also, does anyone use mustard or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray? I have a mustard with bits of jalapeno that I love.

I would think mustard is fine in moderation....it IS high in sodium, but most people don't use that much....and it IS fat free.

I use lowfat cottage chz cuz fatfree sux. in the 14 day shape up plan he says to keep cheese at about 80/90 cal per serving.
