Stillmaners!

Had a great weekend. Yesterday was a planned Atkins day, but I didn't pig out too bad. I should never buy nuts though.

Today I am doing all eggs and 1 gallon of water. I'm going to try to fit in some tae bo and a 45 min walk w/ dh. I really want this weight off! Summer will be here before I know it and dd likes to LIVE at the pool and the lake!

Last week I lost 5.9 lbs. THis week's goal is 5 more.

check ya later,

Lisa

Hi all! I have never posted here before but I have been diligently reading these posts for the past few weeks. I have done Atkins on and off for years but had never heard of Stillman's so I'm giving it a try this week for the first time, after having done Atkins for the last four weeks and losing 14 lbs. Today I am doing sliced turkey/ham, and tons of water, and brisk walking for an hour. Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress!

One question... does anyone here do the repetition banana or yogurt diet and combine it with regular days of ketosis of QWL or doing atkins? I am concerned that the second the banana touches my lips, my stomach will be upset and I'll immediately gain that 4 lbs of water weight that I do any time I go out of ketosis. Seems like the yogurt would do that as well. I love those things and they're usually on my forbidden list, so that's why I'm asking if anyone has had success with throwing in a "banana-only" or "yogurt-only" day amidst a week of meat, with decent success. Thanks for your input in advance!

I've done the yogurt diet w/ success. Yogurt works for a lot of people to help flush out excess water weight. I was hungry on it all the time. though it is a nice change of pace from m/e. Eating bananas would definately kick you out of ketosis. If you have the willpower to do it I think it would work. However, LOTS of people will get out of control w/ that much sugar. So You know what your body and willpower are capable of . It is definatley Stillmans though. So try it and see. Like I said, the only one I've tried is yogurt, and I did lose w/ that.
We look forward to hearing about your sucess!

Lisa

thanks for the information about your experience! Maybe I will try the yogurt one sometime. I think this week I will likely stick to m/e and get some salad in over the weekend. I'm so happy to be drinking diet pop and sf jello this week. I did a "Sweet free" week last week and also cut out tea and coffee, just to see if I would lose more or feel better... I didn't see any stunning results and I certainly felt more annoyed by my limited options. Sometimes I want to get that "meat breath" out of my mouth and .. more meat does not do the trick nor is it appetizing. Pop or jello are great... I'll try and keep it in moderation too... I'll just appreciate it more!

I am so comfortable on my QWL/Protein Plus ....it has just enough strictness and just enough freedom, that I can't hang myself

the repetition diets just seem weird to me..... and torturous.....if I could do THAT then I probably wouldn't be IN this mess!!

I think I am going to Pro Plus for a few more days then QWL for a few.

down 5 lbs so far!!

That sounds good....

I like to roast my green beans too...I just throw them in the chicken pan for the last 15 or 20 minutes.

Good Morning!

Well I made the mistake of stepping on the scale this AM even though I knew TOM is coming....up 2 lbs! I know it's not really a gain, but it's still depressing!

Anyway, yesterday's eggfest turned into an egg and turkeydog fest I just had to have some meat!

Will definately do some exercise today. Don't know what I'll be eating w/ TOM coming. Maybe higher fat to keep the sugar demons away. Right now I'm having some bacon and scrambled eggs.

I hope you all know Stillmans does not allow any veggies if you do it by the book. I understand if people want to tweak it to their own liking, but pure stillmans is lowfat meat, eggs, cottage cheese. There are stickies in this forum about it. If you're new to Stillmans you might want to read it. I have no problem w/ peeps tweaking it. I just didn't want others to think veggies or higher fat meats are stillmans.

Gotta run,

Lisa

Regarding vegetables

VEGETABLES

Though it is unusual for a High Protein diet to include vegetables there is certain restricted vegetables permitted.

If you prefer to skip Vegetables while on this diet you will be speeding your loss of pounds and inches even more effectively. The choice is yours.

You may have Salads made with all varieties of lettuce but just remember your salad takes the place of your vegetable at a meal- DON’T HAVE BOTH

You may eat raw vegetables if you like but only in moderation.

You may have the equivalent of a cup of permitted vegetables for lunch and another for dinner if desired.
ASPARAGUS
BAMBOO SHOOTS
BEEN SPROUTS
BEANS: Green, Sting & Waxed
BEET GREENS
BROCCCOLI
BRUSSEL SPROUTS
CABBAGE
CAULIFLOWER
CELERY
CHARD
CHICKORY
CHINESE CABBAGE
CHIVES
COLLARD GREENS
CUCUMBER
EGG PLANT
ENDIVE
ESCAROLE
FENNEL
KALE
KOHLRABI
LETTUCE (all types)
MUSHROOMS
MUSTARD GREENS
PARSLEY
PEPPERS
RADISHES
SAUERKRAUT
SPINACH
SUMMER SQUASH
TOMATOES
TURNIP GREENS
WATERCRESS
ZUCCHINI

Don’t use unlisted vegetables since many of them are higher in calories…such as Avocado, potatoes, corn etc..

Don’t use any rich dressings such as mayonnaise, thick salad dressings or any other high calorie dressing while on the Protein PLUS Diet. You may use low calorie dressings (under 10 calories per tablespoon) in limited quantities- no more than a tablespoonful-

You may use vinegar and fresh lemon or lime wedges (but no other fruits) on salads and on fresh raw or cooked vegetables if desired. Avoid salt as much as possible (salt substitute is permissible), but use as much as you desire of your favorite herbs and spices.

thanks Farmgirl! but I am cycling QWL and Stillman's Protein Plus which is what KSS posted above. it is still pretty strict regarding fat but allows for veggies and skim milk. I wonder if your weight gain is water from the sodium in the turkey dogs?

Paleo...I thought they opened a giant PCC in an old albertsons in Edmond...? I was going to go to YOUR PCC...have you been there yet?

well...I am TOTALLY on plan foodwise, but I am up a half lb from yesterday...I know that's not much, but it's the WRONG DIRECTION DA@@IT! I am wondering if it could be the broth I made yesterday...salt?? I am going to buy some salt sub today.

not working out today (excuses) got chores and errands...I WILL be on plan this week.

KSS good luck on QWL!!

Okay, again here I am - heavier though this time, but still trying. I am going to do an egg fast for a month. I can not take this and whatever I do is going to have to be strict and I'm going to have to be able to chew!!haha! So I will start tomorrow and let you know how I do. I'm hoping for 10 pounds the first week only because I'm soooo carbed up - it's ridiculous!

It prob was the hotdogs. Read the label and see how much sodium each serving has. Drinks lots of water today and i'm sure it will be gone tomm!

really? an egg fast for a MONTH? would you mind taking a look at Stillmans qwl? it would be easier to stay on and it's very effective.

I don't know this version of Stillmans. I have the original book. I'm going to look it up. Was this a later version of Stillmans? I've never heard of it.

Anyway, thanks...I'm sure it's water weight from the turkey dogs or PMS. This too shall pass....

I picked up Jillian Michaels 30 day shred today and am starting it tomorrow!

well, QWL is pretty basic...one would have 5 or 6 smaller meals per day consisting of a lean protein or an egg or 2 cooked without added fats. you can have FF cottage cheese, and SF Jello. you eat only til satisfied, not til you're full.

so...yesterday I had:

1. 2 eggs, poached with 1 tbsp salsa

2. homemade beef with broth

3. grilled chicken breast with seasonings

4. beef with broth

5. 35 cal. cheese wedge

6. SF black cherry jello with 1tbsp of SF Cool Whip

60 oz water (shoulda been 80)
1 glass of diet 7up
3 cups of tea
1 cup of hot soy slender chocolate (not on the paln...but I had it...and I LIKED it)

Darlah: I have a wedding in May and I am in the bridal party and they are all stick thin girls. I have the Bachelorette party in Feb (the 21) and I want to lose as much weight as I can for the Bach party because I hate "acting" sexy if I don't "feel" comfortable in my own skin.

Hugs to you. I am here for you.

Etin: do you put any splenda in your tea or do you drink it plain?

And I'm confused - aren't there carbs in FF cottage cheese?

yes...I use liquid splenda.

yes...there are carbs in cottage chz...but it's a lowcarb plan not a NO carb plan...still I like to keep the cheese to a min. if I am using lots of condiments on a given day I will cut the cottage chz. (that on QWL not Protein Plus)

you can read about Quick Weight Loss and Protein Plus (or 14 day shape up plan, same thing) in the stickies.

Hope everyone had a good day. I really tried to limit the fat today, but I'm still over the amount most people consider legal for Stillman's. I guess I'm technically doing a combo of paleo, Atkins and QWL.

Today I had/will have:
2 cups black tea with almond breeze
2 cups green tea
4oz stewed lean steak
5oz lean roast lamb
6oz grilled salmon (haven't had dinner yet)
3oz raw baby spinach
lots of water and supplements

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

Hi eetinmeet, thanks for letting me know about the Feb thread. And yes, we have a huge, shiny new PCC in Edmonds and shop there often, although it's actually a bit of a trek from where we live. My son and I just head south (zoo, aquarium, Seattle Center, Greenlake etc.) so frequently, it's usually super convenient for us to shop at your PCC on the way home.

sf ketchup is a life saver! on a higher carb day I like to make "homefries" with cut up radishes and onion and top with sf ketchup!! but that's a "forspecial"
