Welcome!
If I were you I would make sure I was eating 1200 calories a day. Use an online diet journal to track your calories each day. Mix it up a bit too.
This calorie requirement is based on body weight and activity level

Do NOT short change your body by eating less calories than it needs. This will set you up to binge and to regain (yo yo)! Its so not worth it.

From my own experience, this diet is great for a quick jump start but is not for the long haul. Its simply too restrictive.

Good luck to you!

farmgirl...no...you can't bake it but it tastes good. I got the cheesecake flavor from ebay for right around 2.5 for 2 little bottles (only takes a few little drops)

marie....I mention portion sizes on cottage cheese and greek yogurt because it DOES contain carbs. if youre still hungry then lean protein should probably be your "go to " foods. also, Stillman advises to only eat til you are satisfied. that is probably a challenge for most overweight people...I know it is for me....so I try to watch portion size. if I get hungry again later, thn I'll eat again. it also helps to have sugar free jello already made....it keeps me honest.

today:

meal 1: 4 oz lean burger patty and 1/4 cup cottage chz

elliptical: 25 min(ouch)

meal 2: 4 oz lean round steak w/ SF bbq sauce

walk 3 miles (I'm on my way out now...pray for me lol)

meal 3: I don't know yet....prob some scrambled eggs. and some jello

Honestly I think I know why you are hungry--and please do not be offended by this. Try eating larger quantities.

I know I didn't eat enough today ...I got up late, and I was off schedule. I'm trying not to eat so much AT ONE TIME because that's my biggest problem. so I schedule mini meals thruout the day.

but then I DO get hungry on hi protein (no bulk)...I will probably feel less hungry in a few days.

I just felt like complaining.....I miss my food friends

Eating thru out the day is good - but the quantity matters!! You can eat double those amounts of meats/proteins and lose weight!

Hi!

Well, I WI this AM and have lost 4.5lbs in 3 days. I know it could've been more, but I'm eating as much as I want right now to stick w/ it. Plus I now feel ketosis kicking in. So I'm going to start eating smaller portions, and if I get hungry just eat a boiled egg or string cheese.

For those of you getting hungry, maybe up your fat a little. I know it's not strict Stillman, but sometimes I need a little fat to keep me full longer. Like I'll mix my ground turkey w/ ground beef or fry my eggs in a pat of butter. That keeps me going and keeps me full longer. If I go strictly low fat/low cal I eat more often and more calories, but that's just me. So I guess I'm b/w Atkins and Stillmans, fatwise.

Well, we overslept. So I gotta run. Will be walking this PM and doing some Callanetics this afternoon.

The best thing of all is I'm FINALLY getting back into the mindset that helped me lose so much weight last time. Once I get into the right mindset it's stops being drudgery and starts being a fun challenge!

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone, I am down .6 this morning. I ate pretty well yesterday and did the 30 minute shred, that Jillian is crazy.

I eat when I am hungry, whether its turkey bacon, cottage cheese, eggs, or some other lean protein. If I don't eat enough I will binge, there is no doubt. I also love the SF Jell-O. I always go for the lean protein first to satisfy my hunger.

I agree with what windycitygal38 has had to say, this is a killer long-time diet and I think staying on it for a super long time would drive someone to do bad things

Where can I find SF BBQ sauce???

You guys are doing great. The thing that helps me is to keep chicken/eggs cooked in the fridge and eat it when i'm hungry. It keeps me from reaching something off plan when i'm really hungry!

I sorted all my clothes and i'm putting away all the clothes that are too big on me. There is too much stuff so we are keeping them in the attic until my mil and others can see what they want. I think this is what i really need to finally not gain the weight back. When i lose some more i bet everything in my closet will be gone! I attached a pic for you guys to see!

Yesterday i had a whole chicken and veges. They had a sale at schnucks for 10/10 on the steam veges. They are so good! They don't need and seasoning or anything.

Hi All! Looks like everyone has been doing great work. Awesome

Well, I am back after a bit of a break--since the weekend, I have been mainly following induction and, of course, Sunday night I feel into a bag of peanut butter M&Ms. LOL, no! But all and all, it's fine--I actually lost 2 lb. over this 5 day time period. This morning I was 140

I am thinking it's be really cool to be...
139 on Friday, so I am back to QWL for a while.

Happy Stillman's Wednesday to you all!!

Hello everyone..
Congrats to all you for your weight losses...
I don't weigh in until Monday morning so hopefully I will have a good loss then. I started walking the treadmill everyday so hopefully that will be good for loss.
Since I started walking the treadmill my ketone strips turn the darkest color instantly, I don't even have time to count to 3 let alone 40. So I hope that means I am burning lots of fat. I drink over a gallon of water a day so it is not dehydration.

I walked 36 minutes/2 miles so far this morning. Might do more later if time allows and not too sore.

GO STEELERS!!!

KSS-bodybuilders who do carb cycling do 6 days super low carb, then a re-carb day. The day after carbing up they do 1-2 hours of cardio to help them burn the carbs and get back into ketosis more quickly. So maybe exercise helps us to get into ketosis?

PS. We're big Steelers fans too. Dh is a HUGE fan! We'll be doing Atkins, not Stillmans on Superbowl Sunday. I'm going to make wings w/ celery sticks and some kind of dessert!

I have a question...
What do you think is a reasonable amount of weight to lose by 4/26 and 7/1? I want to set mini goals. April 26th is my birthday and I would like to lose at least 33 pounds by then and July 1st is my 20 year wedding anniversary and I would love to lose 74 pounds by then. How possible do you think that is? Back in 2003 I lost 90 pounds in 6.5 months. I know I am older now but I would LOVE to hit these goals. What do you all think?

Welcome back me! I took some time off (about 2 months) and spent the last month trying what everyone claims is the best Weight Watchers , I didn't lose a pound and I stuck with it for 3.5 weeks. So I decided to come back to what really worked for me, and here I am. I know this only works as much as I do but I feel confident today is the day I get back on track. I had 2 hb eggs this morning and I'm cooking a turkey tenderloin now, to hold me through today and tomorrow. Its so all about planning, the only times I've fallen off plan is when I didn't pre-plan. So heres to me and my restart, I still want to lose at least 30 pounds for spring hopefully by March but that could be wishful thinking.

Hi. I'm trucking along. Today is not such a bad day but I'm getting bored with my food fast. I plan on having some shrimp w/ garlic and lemon tonight. I have a question about the turkey bacon--it's low in calories but most of them are fat; is it still ok? How many grams of carbs should I be getting in daily max to help with the weight loss?

thanks WindyCityGal!

Farmgirl!! way to go!! 4.5 lbs!!YAY!

Pinkpetals....have you tried Lowry's microwave bacon curls? they are only 60 cal per serving and only 2 grams of fat. Netrition has them.

Cat430 ...my personal favorite is KC Masterpiece SF...netrition has it. it tastes like regular bbq sauce to me. I boughtsome Smokin Joes SF and it tastes like nothing. btw ...4.4 lbs! YAY!

OMG...I just realised that I sound like a netrition ##ore....I swear I don't work for them lol!

Tricia: I am curious. You said you did WW and it didnt work for you? Did you do the online program or go in for the meetings? Did you journal everything you ate? I am only asking becuz I am considering a WOE that is calorie Just curious how you stuck with the program & why it didnt work.

Thanks!
And good luck to everyone this week

Pink Petals--can I just say--your pic in your avatar is great. You look perfect! But I am sure you don't think so!
How tall are you? Do you work out?

I did it online and I did journal and stayed perfectly within my points, I have actually tried it before with the same results. It just frustrates me bc so many of my friends swear by it and I repeatedly have tried and not lost a single pound. I don't know why it doesn't work for me, I get a variety of foods not just one thing, fruits, veggies, whole grains, LF meats? Oh well, I know its not for me and I didn give it almost an entire month with no loss, not even a pound. So I'm back at the low carb thing, I don't mind this WOE its just SO HARD the first day! I'm still hanging in though! I want to be down a fast 10, get rid of some of my carb bloat from WW.

Hope everyone else had a good day, I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone as I continue on my LF LC WOE.

Hi Everyone!

Well I couldn't resist....got on the scale again and lost again! 1.4lbs! So that's 5.9 lbs since Sunday. Last night I was bored so I went to my virtual model and made pics of me now and at goal and printed them out. I'm going to hang them in my closet as a reminder.

Tricia-I've tried WW w. the same results. Other people in my family swear by it. I think we all just have a different metabolic makeup. What works for one doesn't work for all. People who do well on LC generally feel like crap on WW, and vice versa.

Marie-I eat real bacon once in awhile. 2 slices are 70 calories. I do get the LS bacon though.

KSS-I don't know what to tell you on the loss. 4/26 is 87 days away. I would think you could lose 33 lbs by then if you don't cheat and exercise some. You may as well go for it. That's the only way to achieve it anyway! My 40th b-day is June 25th. I'd like to lose 50 by then.

Gotta run...Have a great day!

I forgot to jump on the scale this morning, but I was so good yesterday, four days in a row who would of thought I could do it. Yeah for me
I did that evil Jillian Michaels, 30 day shred #2 last night and it brutal, talk about 20 minutes of terror. I spent as much time cussin' her out as I did workin' out.
Yesterday I ate cottage cheese & SF Jell-0 and some chicken for lunch and two pork chops for dinner and I think some other stuff I can't remember all on plan...my memory is going...

Everyone is doing so great, congrats KUTGW

Talk to you tomorrow!

It pays to look at the label I won't be eating that again, if I HAVE TO HAVE bacon might as well go for the real thing. I don't know how many carbs I stick to, just as low as possible. Someone else have an idea

Am I doing this thing right??...

Well, I'm on day 5 and still around a 5lbs loss per the scale, but that's pretty much how it looked yesterday. I'm doing more eggs as suggested and I'm not feeling as hungry, but the headaches are still there (how long do these last?). I don't have any ketone strips so I don't know if I'm deep in ketosis but I'm not feeling as hungry any more. I found some string cheese that is 80 cal (45 cal from fat)/5g of fat/1g of carb-- I thought it would be ok; I hope so because I love it! Someone suggested adding just a little fat to feel fuller and I made some shrimp last night w/ about half a tbsp of butter; that's not too much is it?

Can someone tell me ideally, how many grams of fat/carbs should I be getting in a day max?

I'm craving sweets today ( I Want a doughnut soooo bad!) and its weird because I'm not regularly a sweets eater anyway.

I went on the Netrition site, that has lots of great LC products and there was something called liquid CLA that reduces fat absorption; anyone ever try it?

Yeah - I just looked, and I may not attempt to get out today... the snow is really deep in my driveway, and I don't absolutely have to get out...

It's much worse a little farther South... thousands upon thousands without power... Mom told me that they running into gas shortages for generators because the gas stations aren't open, and people are scrambling around trying to find fuel...
