Good job resisting those carbs! You da bomb! I avoid restaurants when I'm on strict QWL myself as I would be tempted too much!

Welcome Artgirl!

I'm still on program..14 day shape up. I'm down a little but will do my official weigh-ins on Fridays. Watch my weight drop in my siggy! (Not as fast as you ladies but I'm a turtle)

Oh, I was also wondering how you guys feel about fat-free ricotta. Do you think this is acceptable? Or would it hinder weightloss?
TIA

plans after stillmans

Hi
I have done stillmans pretty consitently this past year and it works very well....HOWEVER, noone talks about KEEPING the weight off. This plan is extremely restrictive...how do you all plan on plugging this plan away forever? I am curious because honestly I cannot do it anymore. I have lost enough weight on it but as soon as I hit a few off days now , I gain and I gain rapidly. What I have been noticing is that while doing Stillmans I always tried to eat 1200 calories ...but never journaled. Once I started journaling what I thought was 1200 cals was really only 800 calories. While this is okay to do--short term for weight loss--overtime our bodies go into starvation mode, as I am sure you all are familiar with this term.
I guess I am posting this as a question--losing on stillmans is promising BUT keeping this weight off is very very hard. I realize there is always the acception to this ...but for most, its very very hard to do. SO,
what is your MAINTENANCE PLAN? Has anyone gone off stillmans like me and gained weight quickly back?

Thanks for listening and for any replies!

D from Chicago

Stay-Slim
1. Find out how many calories you should eat daily.
2.Refer to the calorie charts until you know the numbers. for me -1750 calories by the chart.
3.Weigh yourself daily-and watch the 3-plus danger signal.
4.Take advantage of Combination Dieting/Eating from now on.(QWL ETC)
5.Get the benefits of low-calorie shortcuts.

Thanks Sassy-

Can you tell me, how many calories youre eating on QWL?

Maybe this is my biggest problem for my is that I didn't watch my calories enough and now as I increase them I gain?!?

Also, I HAVE to add more carbs to my life! The good ones--avoiding the whites and refined carbs.

Does this maintenance plan say anything about what you eat?

Wow, 1500 calories of protein?? Can you give me your menu? Just curious. I feel like kicking myself for not eating enough calories all this time. I feel like I have probably ruined my metabolism even more!
You are young @ 24. I am 38--so lets just say I have been down this road before and once you return to "normal eating" you regain.
I am petrified of this!!!!!!

Sorry for the ranting...I suppose I am a tad bit anxious!

2 T olive oil (to cook the meat)
1 cup broccoli

Oh thx, you are too sweet to post it twice!! Yes, breastfeeding - you can eat a bit more. I guess my portions were never so large. I typically ate two eggs for breakfast, tuna (can) for lunch with tsp of lite mayo and dinner was turkey burgers , or chicken or hamburgers, or steak. I would snack on cottage cheese as well.

Good for you on your losses!

Is she your only child? Did you gain a lot when you were pregnant? I always gained 50 pounds with each child. So worth it though. My baby is five now!

I gained weight slowly afer i got married but 30lbs after baby. I watched my weight while i pregnant since i was already overweight. People were telling me that i wasn't making enough milk for my daughter so i ate so many oatmeal cookies and regular oatmeal to up my supply. I didn't have a problem but they made me think that way! I only have one daughter .

Hi Everyone!!

Still on plan (QWL)! Today was weigh-in day and I am down almost 15lbs since starting 3 weeks ago.

We had a party last weekend and I successfully resisted eating carbs...and I even cooked everything!! Huge accomplishment for me

Planning to stay on QWL until I just cannot stand it any longer Then I will Atkins it for a couple days.

Windycitygal38 - I also gained at least 50lbs with each of my 2 boys. And none of it comes off after pregnancy/while nursing for me...very depressing!

We are trying to conceive #3 and I am petrified of gaining another 50lbs. I know that Stillmans is not the best option for pregnancy, but I plan to continue eating LC. Choosing healthy carbs like vegies and LC fruits.

Have a nice evening everyone!

Good Morning!

YAY!! I actually made it to talk about day 2!!! Such a good feeling! Being the scale addict that I am, I had to check it out and I'm down 2.2!! I'm ready for today! I have an interview today at 1 - wish me luck, I've been laid off since June!

Pink - wow! You didn't eat much at all!! Where do you find the SF ketchup?

Allison - Can I do that??? You GO GIRL!! That's awesome! I know you feel sooo much better than you did 3 weeks ago. I can't even imagine the inches that you've lost as well! I know when I low-carbed before, the inch loss was awesome - especially right at the beginning! Keep rocking - you'll be at goal in no time!!

Sassy - you are doing awesome as well! You've had great success and maintenance is right around the corner for you!! I have a lil guy who just turned 3 - it's just sooo sad to see them sprout so quickly! Give your lil one a squeeze!!

Okay Ladies - I hope you all have a super day! I will make it to day 3!!!

Smile

Me too! For dinner I had some extra lean ground beef, sprinkled with sharp cheddar and a smidgen of sour cream on top. It was super yummy and still LC! No regrets here...I will be back to QWL tomorrow

Super busy packing today and didn't drink as much water as I usually do.

Hope everyone's day went well!

Hi ladies!

Mind if I join? I so need some accountability! My weight is creeping back up and if I don't stop it I'll regain all the weight I lost 2 years ago!

We started this January and I thought I'd just watch calories. Big mistake! I've lost NOTHING!

I know Stillman works. It's how I lost 115 lbs. (with a little Atkins also) So my mini goal is to get in 3 good Stillman days and get back into ketosis! I miss ketosis. I'm so sick of thinking about food. I remember the good ole days when I didn't care anything about food. People could eat anything in front of me and I didn't want it. A nice deep ketosis....that's what I need! I'm re-reading the book today. I want to be like the one woman who lost 25#s in 2 weeks! Don't we all!

Today:

B: 2 hb eggs
L: ground turkey
S: Hamburger
Snack: string cheese or hb egg

I'm going to eat what I need to, on plan, for 3 days til I'm in ketosis and not worry about calories.

Dh and I will go walking this evening and I plan on doing callanetics today sometime.

Ya'll have a great day!

Lisa

Hi All, Welcome Lisa

I am back to QWL today. I am feeling a bit regretful about last night (bunless burger, small salad, pork rinds, and an Indulge bar  ) But it could have been worse and what's done is done. I think I'll weigh next on Tuesday as a challenge to stay clean till then.

I'll be posting later, have a great QWL day everyone

Hi Lisa

Wow, how impressive are your stats! Good for you!

I have a question for you---did you ever watch your calories on Stillmans? If so--how many do you eat a day??

Thx!

Hi Everybody!Great losses!
I'm on plan doing the 14 day shape up. I'm not going to have dramatic weekly losses but I'm in for the long haul. Weighing in on Friday mornings.
Yesterday I had about 12 oz of sirloin steak and man, that sounds like a lot but once I get that much steak in me there's not much else eating I do that day. A steak a day could work for me if I had enough steaks! love it though.
Keep it real.

Welcome farmgirl!

I'm down 1/2 pound today! I'm making progress! Yesterday i had a chicken ceaser salad from Wendy's but without the dressing and then at home i had some beef. The beef was so good and i didn't measure but i ate a lot of it.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the welcome!

I actually kept my weight off pretty easily up until the past few months. I watched my calories and continued to exercise.

I don't know when I'll WI. When I get brave I guess. Dh is also lcing and that helps. I actually do a firm tape this AM. Will go walking this PM w/ Dh.

When I lost so much weight w/ Stillmans I kept my calories about 1200. I am 6'2. I also worked out twice a day. I saw HUGE changes in about 4 months. Everyone commented on it. To me it is a mindset. You have to want it more than anything to do it hardcore like that. I did and it worked. Sometime getting into that mindset is the most difficult thing. Others don't want it that way. They are content to lose slower. I need to lose quickly, at least initially, to stay w/ it.

Today's menu will be eggs, turkey and chicken.

gotta run. I homeschool our dd.

Hey everyone

Well... 142.4
Thats FOUR lbs after FOUR days! Gotta love Stillman's!

Yesterday I had cottage cheese for lunch and dinner then 3 eggs in the evening.

I must ask, what vitamins do you all take? Last night I got totally screwy! My vision got iffy and I was having a lot of trouble speaking and reading... yikes, kinda scary

I was thinking it's likely due to lack vitamins/electrolytes. I am going to start taking a multi-vitamin and SF pedialyte.

I am doing some travel in the nest few days-- I might have to switch to induction to make it through. I'm still not sure though.

Hope you all have a fantastic QWL day
