Weighed for the first time today and am down 7 pounds! Yay me! I am really sick of this plan, though. I think I am switching over to Atkins induction for the weekend. I had a little mayo with my meat for lunch and thought I was heaven! Tried something new the other night...browned very lean ground sirloin and threw in some low carb catsup and Franks sauce...it was really tasty!

Wow- what great weight loss for you! Yes, yay you!! I'm probably gonna be adding a bit here and there before my 14 days of QWL is over. For me, if it keeps me on plan 99.9% that is better than sitting down with a bag of not-on-plan potato chips cuz I just couldn't make it through the day.

Great work everyone! Congrats to everyone for the losses and for jumping right back on plan after falling off.

Yesterday I was extra hungry for some reason

I had a Mock Danish. Not Stillman's legal, but low carb and egg heavy so I went for it. Here is the recipe in case anyone is curious RECIPES FOR EGG/PROTEIN FAST.....

I also put about a TBS of cream in my diet root beer last night...super YUMMY, but also not Stillman legal.

Pretty sure those 2 things stalled my loss. I was up almost 1lb this am

I know that I have to stay away from cheeses and other fats to stay in ketosis, but it is so hard. And so super boring to eat the Stillman diet all of the time...

Back to eggs today for breakfast and lunch. I will probably cook a turkey burger for dinner.

Have a great day!

Day 9

Hi Everyone! Congrats to everyone who has lost weight or maintained.......we can do this. TOM bloating made an appearance today and I feel lousy, have been working out the last couple of days and really need to stretch, everything is really sore but I'm hanging in there. Today is a "blah" day and I was so looking forward to the weekend!

Hello everyone! I have been reading but not posting because it's a pain to post. I have to get used to using my phone internet. I went off plan for a day but didn't do much damage. I think I can handle myself now. I also started measuring and it really helps! Yesterday I had 8oz salmon and a mixed salad.

I hear ya there! It's funny how a tsp. of mayo seems like cheating when just a couple weeks ago, I could sit down with a bag of chips and devour the whole thing!

Yesterday I wasn't even hungry...at all! Must be in ketosis, but have no strips.

Sounds like everyone is doing great!

For folks who want to switch off diet plans for variety...consider trying Stillman's 14 day shape up which is really QWL plus veggies and a bit of dairy. That's what I'm on right now and it was heaven having a salad. I actually kept my calories lower yesterday on the 14 day shape up than I have been dooing on QWL. I do well with some veggies but I will continue to rotate into the QWL 'cause it will keep me or get me back into ketosis. I'm now thinking one week QWL and then two or three 14 day shape up for me.

On mock danish...perhaps Fat Free cream cheese would work? I use it to make Atkins Rolls that are Stillman legal.

Have a great Saturday!

Great Idea Meg. I have to remind myself often that it is not an "all or nothing goal" or else I end up blowing it with that mindset. For me, saying "I will continue doing this tomorrow" seems to work better than to set a way out there goal which tends to sabatoge my sticking with it. I'm realizing it is okay to have that little bit of mayo if it keeps me on plan.

So today finished 6 days and I do feel great. Hoping not to weigh in until day 10... I've had an headache on and off and think it is just the reduction of carbs that my body is getting used to. Hoping for a successful day 7 and for much success for all of you too!

Yeah me too. If I get too extreme I also tend to slip more and then beat myself in the head (figuratively of course). When I slip I try to start over the next day and also forgive myself right away.

wow let me first say CONGRATES TO U ALL FOR THE AMAZING ENERGY U ALL ARE PUTTIN TOWARDS UR HEALTH.....

7 pounds loss wtg mustlovedogs hug to u chica
meg~I totally agree It's hard to keep myself focused if i add carbs, but veggies are good for all of us and sometimes knowing all i have to do is 10 days stillmans then i get 2 days of strict atkins makes it go by so much easier. I have to say this jenno has a great line of turkey sausages and small butter balls of turkey and turkey ham anyways i been opening my horizons with it and im telling u the sausages are yummmy and no carbs and 50% less fat so u cant go wrong and im tellin u that they are worth the try, they even have meat balls so easy they in a zipped freezer bag and so easy for a quick fix pop em in the microwave an 2 min ur eating , for me thats huge cuz im not one that prepares food for the week but when ur in ketosis u really dont have an appetite so it makes it super easy to just thro in a few and i got instant protein fix but the great thing is the variety ......
tom is still here but Im almost done with it still no loss today but Im very happy i stayed on plan......
already planning my 2 atkins days lol can u say brocolli yummmmmmmm cant wait but also just a heads up girls when u get that moment of oh this wont hurt and i can get back on tomorrow , know that tomorrow could turn into months and that great feeling u get from stillmans will be gone so if u feel liek cheating change it up and eat a pickle or a salad cuz those things cant hurt u might add 1 pound of water weight but will not take u out of the good energy zone and way easier to take water weight offf ok im done preaching lol im wishing u all a grreat sunday on plan
Im goign to the movies today and i love popcorn but im just gonna tell myself its no good lol and that fittin in the next size jeans gonna taste so much better

Day 11

Hi All!! I'm glad to see every one on track and doing well.....I've had a rough couple of days, still dealing with awful cramps due to TOM and struggling because I'm anemic and feel really weak. So I've been eating more red meat and taking supplements since leafy green vegetables are out of the question. So I'm still here, Hang in there everyone!

Magical! Thanks for the kudos! Looks like you are doing awesome as well! Great idea about the meatballs. I'm planning on getting back on Stillmans today! Although I made some awesome chicken fajita's yeaterday (minus the tortilla!) I may need to munch on that chicken for lunch. Have a lunch meeting and someone mentioned ordering samiches... I'm so way past the cravings and that's what I love about this WOL!
Have a great Monday everyone!

Beginning Day 8:

Could hardly wait to get up this morning and get on the scale --- first time since I started. I plan to weigh in each week so that I don't get scale crazy and let it sabatoge me along the way. Anyhow, 7lbs down for the first week --- oddly I feel lighter than that which makes the 7lb loss that much better.

I've decided on the QWL I just can't even think of veering off --- just can't cuz I'm afraid one slip becomes the whole meal, the whole day, the whole next day, and the whole week. So, no slips at all thus far --- then I don't have to wonder what might happen. Down the road when I feel stronger and have more experience of what my body can and can't handle I'll reconsider but for now it's got to be 100%.

Today I am started back to my treadmill and weights and hoping that doesn't change the fact that I am not craving anything.

Again, today I am reminded that water is so very important. I drink a 10oz cup of water EVERY hour so that it gets spaced over my day. I find that when I sit looking at this giant sized bottle of water I don't drink nearly the amount I drink if I break up the portions. I drink my first 10oz at 8am and drink my last at 7pm. Total of 100 oz.

May everyone have a wonderful Monday and make the BEST choices!

Karen

On protein bread. This is from the 14 day shape up:
BREADS

You may have a slice (serving) of Protein-PLUS Bread or Bun twice a day if you wish- but no more then 2 servings a day.
The recipe is very similar to Atkins Revolution Rolls the main difference is Stillmans recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of flour and Atkins does not. In my opinion, in this case it would be best to use the Atkins recipe since it doesn’t call for flour. However, you can do a search on this site and find the original recipe for Stillmans bread/buns.

I tried a search but didn't come up with a recipe. I make Revolution rolls using fat free cream cheese which I think is Stillman legal. They didn't have fat free cream cheese when Stillman devised these diets but if they did...... I use the recipe that calls for 3 tablespoons of cream cheese which ends up being about 50 cals per bun.

I stayed on the 14 day shape up yesterday and am going with it for the rest of this week.

Have a great day!

Day 1 Again...

Well here I am again, starting over. I have such a hard time getting through the first two or three days. I have enjoyed reading the posts and have been rejuvenated and am making every effort to stick with it until I get these pounds off. I really don't have much too lose, but it isn't always the amount of pounds to lose, it can just be difficult to get going. Getting off plan does turn into one meal, one day, one week and then look I'm ten pounds up. Get focused and stay focused until you get to your goal!! My new mantra...

Good luck everyone!

Cat - I agree that the first days can be hard. I find myself staying busy so that I don't have time to think and wander back into the kitchen. If you can stay 100% those first few days many have found that our cravings for the stuff we can't have decreases tremendously. Take it one day at a time...and one hour at a time. Keep drinking water to help that "full" feeling. I'm rooting for you and hoping that Day 1 is a GREAT success!!! Keeping a food journal has been key for me to stay accountable!!

Getting started is the hardest part! Those first three days are killer, but once you are over that hurdle, it's smooth sailing! Good luck!

We can do this girls!!

I didn't try the rice qwl yet since i need a few things. I think you can have juice and rice on this one. Yesterday and today i ate an entire chicken! That filled me up for sure. I usally eat 1/2 chicken and then a cup of salad. For the first time i wasn't contispated!! Now i think it's the salad that did it for me.

Whew!

One day done and a few more to go. I had some turkey, cottage cheese and lots of chicken to fill up my meals yesterday.
I might of had a SF Jell-O not sure.
I did get a Turbo Jam workout in, I to workout to get rid of stress and take the mind off of food.
I had a brutal headache last night, my body thinks it might not like this WOE, but too bad it will just have to give up
Forgot to weigh this morning, so not sure if the scale went down or not

Congrats to the losers ~ Have a great Tuesday!

Hey Cat --- Congrats on the first day accomplished

Sounds like you have a great mindset and are determined to get past the first harder days. Good for you for working out!! Try not to let the scale be the only thing that determines your success on a daily basis --- it can disappoint even when you stay on plan perfectly! Hoping for a wonderful Day 2 for you and that the headaches ease at bit.

MagicKal - I enjoyed reading your post and have been thinking about the question you asked, "Why do we cheat with Carbs"?

I cheat with carbs IF I weigh myself everyday. In the past when I would have a perfect eating day and the next day the scales says I gained weight then this strange mindset would kick in and I'd spiral down to think that maybe carbs don't matter. How funny that I let this silly square metal box that sits on my bathroom floor determine more than it should about how I am doing --- hence why it is hidden in the attic right now.

Why do we cheat with carbs? Part psychological and part physical I think. If we can get through the first few days low carb I think we get a handle on the physical side. The psychological side is a little more tricky and takes longer to conquer IMO. We were 'rewarded' with sweets as kids so we're programmed that way a bit. Also some of us have learned to cope with stress by eating, especially carbs. I really think it's a lot like alcoholism. We have to overcome it one day at a time and also remember it is a life long thing we may not ever get over completely. The only real 'cure' I think is in keeping our carbs under control each day.

That's my take for what it's worth. Why do we cheat? We lie to ourselves that it will be OK to satisfy our lust for carbs.

I was good yesterday and kept on the 14 day shape up plan. My calories were in line and the scale is on the way down.

Have a good Stillman day!

I cheat on carbs because i'm mostly in the house 24-7. I can't wait till the summer time. I miss going for a walk in the park, roller blading, and riding my bike!

I didn't lose pounds but i did lose inches. I love working out now.

Meg I think your answer is right on!

It can be hard for me being a stay at home mom to 2 little ones. I try to make sure the boys are eating healthy, but it is in no way LC. It was just so much easier when we all ate the same things...but I feel better and happier this way!! That's not to say that there aren't days when I am tempted to just have a quesadilla instead of fixing something LC.

I talked to my mom on the phone this morning and she said, "The problem with eating LC is that when you stop you gain all the weight back. And you can't eat LC forever!"

I told her that I could eat LC forever, and I have/need to in order to feel healthy and good about myself. She considers it another diet instead of a lifestyle. She also thinks that it is not healthy long term. Of course I explained...

We are moving to be closer to family at the end of this month. It is a blessing to be able to do so, and the right thing to do for our boys...but I am scared! It is going to be a huge struggle to stay on track because my entire family are carb-o-holics!

Holding strong and eating QWL. Not weighing again until next Monday.

Have a great day everyone!!

ok alison its so nice to be near family but family arnt always right!!! I have to say that cuz my mom loves me just like urs but she also says things after so long of me eating this way , thing is u will eat veggies and good berries and u will learn the right foods but dont let noone and i mean noone stop u from loving u. I dont want to come off head strong but ive been heavy and i knwo what my body can process and sry but its not carbs there are good carbs but unfortunatly they couldnt make money off of it , my feelings about the whole grocery store and gas stations and well look my drug is on every corner theres a fast food resturaunt everywhere and its time for u to love u and u said it this makes u feel good , well i dont do stillmans everyday but i do atkins and i love the energy and the way i feel but really plz dont let a mothers love ruin ur efforts i say get as much information and find out wat works with ur body and learn new ideas on cooking cuz im come from a very southern background even tho i was raised in a northern state, but once my momma got on the same page as me , she started making me stuff liek fried chicken but with egg and parmasian cheese that is so yummy and salmon cakes the same way , jsut find wat u love and experamint, I was a taco bell freak and i cant stand to it there now even when im carbing it up it just dont taste like it used to so i take them low carb wraps fry em up in olive oil and make me a beefy tostada and thin crust pizza no i cant eat it everyday buttttttttttt i can have it when i want to fix a craving and it turns out so much better than a cheat we all fall but its u gettin back up and telling the p[pl u love NO that ur doing whats right for u thats going to be the challenge.........ok im done preaching , ust hate it when are mommas love us way too much and really dont know what they are talking about... so good luck girl u can do this ......

I have a question for you guys now. What keeps you from eating carbs?
For me it's knowing that if i don't mess up on Stillmans then i will be down 1.5 pounds the next day. It's knowing that i can fit into more clothes that are in my closet that didn't fit me before. I'm sure there are more!
