Stillman's QWL
Hi Everyone,
I noticed there are several (locked) sticky threads, and one for exercise and Stillmans, but none for folks to actually discuss being on the diet. Figured I'd start one and hope to get some replies. I just started today, and after reading a lot about it, I'm pretty excited. I'm 5'4" and weighed in this morning at 166.4. I want to get down to 140, maybe 135. Is anyone else here on this diet? If so, how have you been doing with it? If I follow this diet to a tee, how long should it typically take to reach my goal? Thanks in advance for the replies :) Tina |

Thanks so much! I guess I didn't catch it because "Stillman's" wasn't in the title.

Hi, My husband and I started this diet exactly one week ago today (April 20, 2009). He started out at 204 and I at (gulp) 268. He is now down to 192. I am down to 260. I did this diet many many years ago and I lost 40 lbs in about 6 weeks! I think it is great. Downside is the limited foods, and the monotony of the menu. I sent off for the Dr. Stillman's Quick Weight Loss Diet Cookbook.
Glad I found this site and the all the different recipes that are out there. I can't wait to try them all! Our goal weight is 170 for my husband and 150 for me. 268 is the heaviest I've ever been. 169 is the lightest in my adult life. My husband and I are 54 years old. Glad I found this site! |
O.K. out of shear desperation I am doing this. Will test for next 5 days. Here are my questions/concerns: I can not lose weight. I have to drop way down, like about 700/cals.day to get anything off. Age, lack of much exercise do this to you. I have to lose at least 25 lbs. I would be absolutely thrilled with 2lbs.wk, trust me on this, but it's not happening which is why I am doing this. Now, do I have to watch cals. as well on QWL? Do I have to watch how much protein I am eating. Some experts (Eades) caution about not over doing protein I think. I would appreciate any input you may have. I may be old, 69, but being fat is just the crowning blow I can tell you.

Dr. Stillman said that you should eat until you are satisfied. I eat a ton of protein in the first few days, because as with any diet your body tells you that you are soooo hungry. Then after a few days you feel better and your appetite will decrease.
