Help! 17 Days left!
Hello all,
I have been checking out the boards and have decided that with my big holiday is coming up in just 2 wks and 3 days, I am going to do QWL. I really want to beat myself up for falling off the wagon bigtime (weighed in at 205last wk), but I figure I better just try to fix things before it's too late. I was doing M&E last week, but fell off the wagon seriously on Saturday and Sunday. I am hoping to lose about 15 lbs before the trip, and maybe a size (2 would be great). I am on summer vaca now, so I have been exercising a lot at the gym...usually 2 hrs cardio and strength training. For me THAT is the easy part, its the eating that is more difficult. So even if a single person never comes into my thread, I will be posting my daily diet, exercise and progress here, so that I can have someone to be accountable for (even if its just the universe, lol) Ofcourse, encouragement and tips are greatly welcome. Wish me luck!

Thanks for your encouragement, ladies.
OK Here goes: Bfast: 1 boiled egg (usually cant eat more than one without ketchup or turkey bacon) Lunch: 2 pcs of cube steak Dinner: 4 baked chicken wings Tried to drink lots of water (8 glasses so far), will try to drink another 2 or 3 glasses before bed (yes I go to bed late) Exercise: 2hrs 3 mins of cardio (consisting of 65 on ellyptical, 25 on stationary bike and 33 mins on some ski/stepper machine), 20 mins of lower body strength training. Any thoughts? I was thinking the wings might've been a little too fatty (I did not remove the skin). |

Could you be down into the starvation range with that intake level? I didn't really add it up, but it LOOKS kind of low. (I know, I'm not on your plan, but I played with starvation for way too many years!)
Good luck! Enjoy your trip! Sandi |

Thanks for the advice. I am trying to eat more often, but it is hard for me...just not that hungry. I found a site that says one baked wing is equal to 98 cals. and I have had 6 (2 since I posted) and the steak was about 300 cals., plus one egg 80 cals. So thats 968 calories for the day, which isn't terrible is it?

If you are near 200 pounds, under 1000 calories SOUNDS low. If you go to the Challenges board and look for the Eating to Your BMR thread, there are links in the first post to calculating your Basal Metabolic Rate, and you can make an educated decision as to what is under-consuming enough to lose, but not too far as to fall into starvation mode. Good luck!

OK Here goes: Bfast: 2 boiled eggs, 2 hotdogs (I know not the best choice but all the othermeat was frozen) Lunch: 2 boiled eggs, 2 hotdogs (Thats a lot of hotdogs in one day!!!) Dinner: 2 hamburger patties. Lots of water , but I broke down and had some Diet soda too. Exercise: Only did an hr of cardio today. Didnt want to overdo it (consisting of 35 on stationary bike and 25 on the treadmill) Also I weighed in at 206, figured it was due to upcoming TOM, or atleast I hope so anyway. |

OK Day #3:
Bfast: 2 broiled hamburger paties Lunch: 2 boiled eggs, 2 hotdogs (Finished off the pack, thank god...so no more) Dinner: 2 broiled hamburger patties. Not as much water as yesterday, but I only had a little Diet soda today. Exercise: Did even less exercise today, as I had to get my car repaired for most of the day. Only did a half hr of cardio today (ski machine/stepper machine) Weight went back down to 204, so I will will take it. Hopefully I will get a big whoosh some time soon. Tomorrow will be a challenge cus I will have to go into wor for a few hours and I will heading off for some weekend activites. Gonna stick to the diet and abstain from alcohol all weekend. I figure it wil be worth it in the end!!! |

Bfast: grilled chicken and a little bacon from a salad, had a tiny bt of lettuce and tomato as it was impossible to pic off al the meat with out ingesting some of the salad. Lunch: 2 or 3 microwaved chicken wings (not as bad as it sounds) Dinner: Dinner with my sis at Old Country Buffet. I ate a few slices of turkey, a small pc of salmon, and a small piece of sirloin. Day #8 (can't believe I lasted this long):
Bfast: 2 baked chicken legs. Lunch: can of sardines. Dinner: 5 sausage patties. Drank a lot of diet soda today, tryin to make up now by drinking atleast 2 liters of water before bed. Exercise: 80 minutes of cardio (65 ellyptical, 1 on treadmill); lower body weight training. Weighed in at 199.5 today (could put the wieght on 150, but had to push almost al lthe way over, but I am grateful) On the way to the gym, bought a pair of size 12 shorts. They fit well, before I was in 14s and even some of those wouldnt fit. So now I am even more motivated to stick to it, and keep it up after my vaca. |

I know what overcame you. You've been depriving yourself seriously, and that is what extreme plans like this do to people. I have a lot of personal experience with it if you're interested in hearing about it.

Day #12 (Treading water):
Bfast: 2 eggs, 4 sausage patties Lunch: Random meat from the Chinese buffet. Dinner: Chicken wings Drank 2 liters of water. Exercise: 90 mins of cardio (35 min on the crosstrainer, and treadmill 25 mins, and 30 on the stationary bike). no weight training Weighed in at 197 this day. Only a few days left. Actually thinking I want to get out of ketosis before I leave. I hate the way my breath smells and don't want it to interfere with my vaca...any ideas of how to get out of ketosis without puttin on any weight or even better still losing? |

Carnivalbaby, I would suggest that you transition to Atkins '72 induction. It's not all that different from what you've been doing, but you are allowed some vegetables. It's best to do a slow and easy transition, rather than an abrupt one. The deprivation of plans like Stillman's is a train wreck for me. Once I'm done starving, I go the other direction. I do a whole lot better going slow and steady.
