Anyone new to Stillman's from Atkins?
Hi Everyone. I'm considering switching to Stillman's...I'm currently on Atkins - with the occasional struggle. I'm thinking maybe I need the limits that Stillman's offers. Anyone with advice/stories to tell? Thanks in advance!

Hello!! I was doing atkins from August 2007 to Christmas 2007...went from 243 to 190. So I was doing just fine. Don't really know why I decided to give Stillman's a try except it was a New Year...New Plan!! Started at 186....the weight loss was great and consistent. I haven't rebound any weight I have lost...I still want to get to 135 or a solid size six! I find that my measurements say more about how I am dong than the scale!! For me ...stillman's was a mind over matter thing....most of the hard work was in my head..the eating was/is simple...I do exercise and I enjoy it...I walk on the treadmill everyday average 4 to 6 miles a day! I have done alot of 10 days on Stillmans and 2 days off...with the 2 days off being Atkins days... ![]() General information...I am 52, 5.5 ft, size 6/8 clothes...

I'm considering Stillmans too.
I've been low carbing for a long time, but had some weight creep back up and having a hard time getting back on track. I'm also considering doing Stillmans as a jumpstart to get focused and maintain motivation. I want to learn more.
I look forward to hearing if you give it a go. ![]() |

Hi Shelby,
Stillman's is just lean meat, eggs, fish, poultry, lowfat cottage cheese and 80 oz. of water a day. You can have some SF jello and diet drinks that don't have carbs. No fats. No shakes. You can have a little ketchup and as much as you want of other no carb condiments like mustard, salt, pepper. Broth if there are no carbs. It's as close as you can get to an all protein diet. Stillman says if you stick to it and only eat when hungry you can lose 5-10% of your weight in the first week. This is going to vary depending on how bloated or not you are and how much you have to lose. It's a good quick start. It works for me. If you're interested then why not check out the June challenge thread?

Thanks for the information and the invite. I will check out the thread - but I'm not sure I'm ready for it just yet. I just bought 6 big heads of romaine (BOGO) and cucumbers... Maybe It'll be Stillmans in July! I've just got to get back on the wagon at this point! Best of luck to everyone!

Some of this sounds terrible, but here goes...
Couple of years ago I lost 85 pounds doing Stillman/meat & egg 3 days and Atkins '72 4 days. I would lose about 20 pounds in one month on average and then take 2 months and maintain that weight loss before going back on for another month. It took me about one year plus to lose the 85 pounds (which is fast) and then I maintained the weight loss for about 1 and a half years and the weight has crept on a little bit (my fault). I am now trying to re-induct to Atkins and am finding it really hard to lose much weight and am going back to the way I used to eat with the cycle of Stillman's/Atkins '72. I don't think it's easy. I think it's the hardest thing in the world to do, which is why I've been avoiding it... It feels like a crash diet to me because the weight loss is so fast and it's so limiting but it works the best so far as keeping me on track and making it work.

I am giving stillmans a try. today is day 2. yesterday, after breakfast, i decided to do this.
i've lost 25 pounds since 3/13. that seems slow to me, considering how hard i've been trying. i started working out in april and am at the Y 3 to 5 times a week. i have been working up to running a mile so that i can do the C25K. i am hoping stillmans will give me a boost. |

After reading about this WOE it sounds like just what i need. I've been struggling with Atkins for a while now. I've started an exercise routine that seems to be working and keeps me motivated. I am feeling as if I want to do more and be more active. Eating wise however I am learning that the foods i want are not the foods I can handle any longer, however with a family i find it hard to stay on track. I am a little concerned about starting anything new as I have food sensitivities and cannot eat some of the foods on the list. For the most part I think it is doable. I have looked at the plans listed and it seems that after losing your weight that there is a lot of variety afterward. Has anyone had any health concerns being on this WOE?
