Great Christy! Hey I do believe we are both on the "Lose it by Thanksgiving" team too! Great! I think doing Stillmans for a couple weeks here and there is the only way I can acheive that goal! So that is great,we can both be active both places and hopefully the pounds will drop!

Thanks Twitime!

I do have a quick question for you all. Ive done SQWL in the past and I always ate very lean meats mostly chicken and fish, I read the whole thread and I see where some of you eat hamburger meat. I have a package of ground chuck and was wondering would that be ok to use while doing this? So what types of beef do you all use for your hamburgers?

I would think that what you have would be fine too, as long as you drain the grease. I must admit I may eat more fat than suggested because we are big into pork. We also have a bunch of ribs in the freezer, both beef and pork which I am trying to save until I'm doing Atkins rather than Stillmans, but it's going to be hard to avoid it because my husband has started Atkins now so the weekends will be hard to avoid ribs! I may just have to modify my plan to be more leanient on the weekends. - sorry I got off on such a tangent...
Anyway Christy, if you have it I'm sure it would be fine, how much % fat does it contain?

I'm losing it! (MY MIND!)

Sorry Christy, but I swore you were on this other team I mentioned but now I can't find you there so it must have been on one of the many other threads I've read or posted on! (I need all the help I can get!) Anyway, sorry for being a bit spacey!

Ok thanks! I was just wondering about that cause last time I pretty much didnt eat any red meats. It actually didnt say the % which I found odd it just said ground chuck. Maybe next time Ill get some meats at the other grocery store close by. That 97/3 sounds good, I agree you would use less cause it doesnt shrink up.

Twitime, I think I ate pork my last round. I didnt know we werent supposed to eat that til I read the stickys about it here. I lost just fine, 13 pounds in 1 week if I remember correctly. No prob about thinking I was from another thread, heck maybe I should get on there but I am on a Christmas challenge!

Yep, that's where it was cuz I was thinking of joining that but I just really want 20 by Turkey Day because I have a trip to Vegas on Dec 1st. and I know there's going to be alot of partying involved! Ofcoarse more by Christmas would be great but I'm not going to pess my luck. I know he last 5 pounds will take a long time so as long as I don't GAIN over the holidays I should be okay.

I will continue to eat pork, and some of the beef we eat is not the leanest and ofcoarse I cut the fat off, but with my husband doing Atkins and me doing this, we have to have a happy medium!

WOE: KE/Stillman's QWL/Kimkins
Hello to everyone.
I feel a little bit at a loss. Haven't posted hardly at all during the Summer. I see a couple familiar posters but don't see many of the ones that used to post in the monthly QWL threads. Ok.......here is what I have done to myself all Summer. The news is NOT good....ewwwww

Well here it is Sept 25th and it is fess-up time and time to be accountable for my eating behavior over the Summer. I ate way too much of all the wrong foods. My weight is up to 225 (a gain of 12 lbs). I have re-re-re-re-started...AGAIN...again....again...(well you all get the picture).....today. After doing so well last Winter and Spring, I've really blown it. However, overall I'm still down 52 lbs so I'm grateful that I didn't absolutely totally blow all that hard work. I'm not happy with myself at all, and need a good HARD kick in the butt!!! plus a little support. Soooooo here I go again with my version of Stillman's that I lost my weight on before. It's really a combo of Stillman's and Kimkins. Worked before, hope it works again.

Welcome to Christy and Shenue!!!

Twitime - On the pork, I would agree that Stillman's says no pork, but if it works for you and you still lose weight, I say go for it.

I keep reminding myself that the book was written in the late 60's, early 70's and there have been changes in the way food is made, other options available out there that weren't in the 60's-70's.

Bottom line for me is to follow the plan like it is written in the book, but experiment with what works for you. If you can eat pork or something else, and still lose, go for it!!! There are certain things I know I can eat that aren't on the original Stillman listing (2% cheese for example), and I still can lose the weight as long as I don't over do it.

I'm feeling positive this a.m. because after my "pastry" incident of the weekend, I was right back on track yesterday!!!

I didn't get exercise like I planned but I did clean my entire living room and kitchen, pulled things out, swept behind, dusted, so I considered that my exercise for the day.

Have a super day today,
Jane

Hey Shenue, no more guilt! You are here and that's the main thing! If you ask me, 12 pounds is not so bad! (I had gained 30 since Dec!) Welcome back! Tell about your plan combo, I think I need some adjustments on mine!

I am bumed! I am the same weight today as Friday, what am I doing wrong I wonder? I keep thinking my portions are too big, that I eat more than I should and probably not just eating when hungry, but just eating! So I guess I answered my own question!

Oh well, today marks day 7 of Stillmans which is actually longer than originally planned, but I'm sticking to it, and I'd bestter see some results soon!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Twitime, hi!

If your weight is the same as Friday, it might be that you ate something that affected the diet. I know that when I go off (like eating sweets, etc.), I can tell right away because my weight will go up 2 lbs. or so. So I've then thrown off my diet. Once you start back it will take about 3 days on the Stillman's again for the weight to come off, give it a day or so and see.

If that's not the case, review what you're eating and see if there's something different you may have added that could have thrown you off.

I stopped eating the peanut butter myself. When I looked at everything I had been eating (excluding the pastries on Sunday), I realized that while I could eat a small spoonful of p.b. and it didn't throw me off, I was eating way more of it than I should, so that kept me from losing the weight too.

So hang in there, let us know in a day or so how your weight does!!!!

Take care!
Jane

I've had Canadian Bacon with my eggs in the morning so maybe the brand I have has sugar in it (don't have the label, it was a big pack from Costco, and I put it in my own ziplock) That's all I can think of, except for eating too much. Well I weighed myself again after 2 cups of coffee and a much needed trip to the bathroom and I'm down .5 but I'm not changing my weight profile yet, I will wait till I see something more substantial!

When you guys log in "B: HB egg" is that just ONE? If that's the case then I am just eating too much! I've ben eating 3 eggs each morning! Yikes!
Well this morning for Breakfast I had 4 oz Turkey breast. I have never weighed my meat up till now, but I'm going to try to put everything in Fitday today and see if I'm just way over on the calories! Not worrying about the portions is what makes this diet doable, I hate to have to start weighing everything again~!

For me, "hb" means 1 hard-boiled egg. If I have more than one I would put 2 hb, etc.

I've never counted calories or used Fitday while on Stillman's, I just follow the diet in my modified version, eat until I'm full, then not eat again until I'm hungry.

Sometimes, however I have to make myself eat, as I won't be very hungry and realize I'm not losing weight because I'm not eating enough (or substituting with a couple spoonfulls of p.b. instead of something like meat or more eggs), that's been my problem.

I also got some cottage cheese again. I stopped buying it because I really don't care for it at all, but realize that it does help me in the weight loss area, so am going to try to have a bit of it now and then.

I've tried it with cinnamon & sweetener like someone suggested, it was okay, but just not for me.

I can eat it better straight or else I make a fake lasagna with some meat, a bit of ketchup, cottage cheese and top with cheese, heated in microwave. Doesn't taste too bad and can also sprinkle a bit or parmesan on too.

Jane

Anyone out there tried a quiche yet? I'm not quite sure how to make one...

I LOVE cottage cheese, I specifically haven't bought it because I'm afraid I'll binge on it! I think people only eat lie 1/2 cup a day, I could easily eat more. see? my problem is that I'ma glutton!

I also hate cottage cheese - can not acquire a taste for it, wish I could!

So I just got my flu shot! Happy to be done with that! and while in the store I bought some FF cottage cheese, so look out! WooHoo! I will try to eat only 1/2 cup a day, maybe smooshed up with a HB egg? hmmm, not sounding too good! Oh well, we do what we gotta do, right?
Are we weighing in Friday? or just whenever?

Twitime, I LOVE cottage cheese, too!
I eat about 1 cup a day of the low-fat variety and am still losing.
3 HB eggs is not too much. If you are hungry, eat them!
I've already had 3 today - 2 for breakfast and 1 for a snack.
Lunch was a small piece of chicken breast and some tuna.
Dinner - salad with chicken breast.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well Tammy, I was wondering where you were! Haven't been around for a couple days! (I love your avatar!)

I bought the FF variety, "Kroger" generic is my favorite Cottage cheese! so creamy for fat free! the thing is it's 5 carbs for 1/2 cup and I was thinking this WOE was basically 0 carbs!

So my experiment for today is: when I feel hungry, I will wait for an hour before eating! Just to make sure it's real hunger and not just boredom or my love of eating!

Twitime,

Weigh in - we used to all post our "official" weights on Fri. morning, whatever day you all want to do is fine with me.

Sometimes if someone has lost extra during the week, they have posted new weight at any time - I'm all for that as well - inspires the person plus the rest of us.

I don't know about you all, but I weigh every morning and also right before bed, just cause I want to know each day, but will continue to post my "official" weight on Fri a.m.

Let me know if you all want to change the posting weigh date, whatever works for all of you I will do!!!

Friday is good, though I weigh myself every morning too! If I weigh at night too, I would be up at least 2 pounds!
Oh yea, if I am down a pound, I will definately change my stats and let everyone know, as well as dance the happy dance!
