Sorry you're not feeling well Jane, take care of yourself and try to rest. Maybe make some broth with chicken pieces in it for a sort of "comfort food".

So today is day 3 fo me on Stillmans. I ate a lot yesterday, like 4 meals, lots and lots of meat, I thought today I would see a weight gain but another pound down!
Wow, how can it be? This really works! I am so happy, thank you all for letting me join your little group and for anyswering all my questions.

Just a poll...how long have you each been on this? Do you do a week or two only and then switch it up a bit and go back every now and then or continueally? At first I was going to do just 3-5 days and am thinking of longer but I don't want to be depleting any of my nutrients, which I've read can happen (in 'other' threads/groups of coarse)

So just wanted to get everyone's plan and input. Thank you so much!

Have been on pretty much since 7-16-07, I had one or two days where I slipped up, but pretty faithful.

In 2004 I was on it for 6 months, but took a "free weekend" every 3rd weekend. I lost a bunch of weight back then, 70 lbs. I believe. My difficulty was then the following months a couple crisis in my life, so I gained some of it back due to that. And then just didn't care about much weight wise for a year or so, big mistake which got me back to 235 July this year.

This time I have a goal to do Stillman's till 199, have 12 lbs. to go. Then, I don't know. I may take a week doing something else and depending on that, go right back on, as Stillman's is the only thing that works for me to lose the weight. I'll decided when I get there.

I think it depends too, on how much you have to lose as to how long you stay on the diet. I want to lose down to 165 eventually, so that's still 46 lbs. yet for me. If you only have 20 or so lbs. to lose you may not need to stay on it as long.

Long winded as ever today, whew, have a great day!
Jane

I was thinking of just going back to Atkins when I lose a few lbs. they are in the same basic catagory, and then anytime I hit a stall, do Stillmans again. Or maybe 3 days a week every week till I'm at goal, what do you think abou that? Do you think the fat and small amount of veggies allowed on Atkins will screw me up?

so when you guys go 'off' for a while what do you eat, anything? I know Slatman is doing the fruit trip now, anyone just do a more liberal and fatty version of Stillmans? (ie: Atkins?)

Sorry for all the questions!

I say try different things and see what works for you.

For me, I like to add veggies/salad on the weekends and try to stay on Stillman's for as long as I can stand it. For me, it's just easier. And I have a problem with mayo. I just love the stuff, so while I'm losing it's best to steer clear of it! And Ranch dressing. Oh my goodness.

Where is Chronie? She has stayed on Stillman's a fairly long time and lost a good bit of weight! She's my inspiration for getting back on this. And idioglossic! I believe she lost most of her weight on Stillman's too and has done marvelous!

HTH!

Pork?!

I just went back to the beginning to read all the posts and found one saying pork isn' allowed and i ate 2 pork chops last night! oh no! I hope I didn't blow it!
I cut all the fat off and it was cooked on the grill. I have the book but it is soooooo old and back then pork was considered super fatty and now it's lean so I thought it would be okay, shoot! hmmm, the scale went down though this morning so maybe I didn't blow it too badly!

maybe my Stillmans plan will be a bit modified as some of you also do.
When you think of it, Pork Tenderloin is leaner than chicken, yes chops are fatty, but I don't eat the fat, just don't like it anyway.

Off Weekends - I would eat whatever sounded good that weekend (within reason & control). I love chocolate cakey things, so I'd have a piece of cake or brownies.

And by the way, I loooovvveee mayo too. I can eat it with anything, and I mean anything.

When I started back, it would ususally jump-start my Stillman's again and helped drop the weight the first week again.

So far I haven't had any big cravings for much, not even chocolate at this point, mostly I love my fri. morn cappucino and that so far has satisfied me.

How much is too much protein?

Is there a limit? I feel like I have eating so much!
I made a bunch of boneless, skinless chicken breasts this morning and have already eaten FIVE of them and it's only 3:30 PM!!
Am I totally blowing it with my gluttony?
it's embarrassing but I just can't seem to stop, I think I just don't want to feel deprived or something!
Oink, oink!!

Well, I'm a bit depressed this a.m., my weight was up by 1 lb. this morning - hated changing my stats back up but want to be fair. I don't know what's going on other than TOM which could be the case. So I'll keep plugging away, maybe tomorrow morning will be better.
Have a great day!

Don't be bummed! That pound will be gone tomorrow I bet!
Well I am thrilled I am down again today! and I can't believe it because I have not only been eating soooooo much meat, but I am so constipated that I'm sure if I could go I would lose several pounds! Oh well, like you said, just keep plugging along. (maybe I will get unplugged!)
Going to take a walk a make some eggs and canadian bacon for breakfast!
Good Luck to you all, hang tight!

When I get "plugged" I drink more water and also take an over the counter stool softener. There are less harsh than laxatives and usually work within a day. Also if I increase my egg intake that works for me as well.

Way to go!! I think it's good for the metabolism to shake things up a bit. When what you're doing gets boring or stops working, go back to Stillmans or whatever.
I don't care that much about being able to have fruit but I have eaten lots of veggies in the past. Like the Cabbage soup diet, over and over and after 3 days I just crave everything! and the cocktails...any other diet and I really like to still indulge in the drinks, but with this one or just the LCing, I am not craving the drinks! I will add them in later when I get down a bit more.

I commend you on the diet though, in reading all the other diets in the book, they seem so restrictive! You must be Starving!

Good Morning everyone. At work already this a.m., a beautiful Saturday with cool breeze and perfect fall weather, but I sit here at the computer to work and have tons of filing to do today. Oh well, that's what pays the bills!!!

Well the scale still sits at 212 this morning, but I'm feeling better overall.

I'm doing a planned "cheat" today, if you want to call it that. A friend gave me a whole bunch of fresh tomatoes. I'm going to make chili with tomatoes, hamburger, have some sausage in the freezer I need to use up, and some seasoning. No beans.

The friend also gave me 2 large zucchini's, I haven't decided yet whether to throw them in the chili as well. I'll see.

So while this may not be on the legal diet, I figure that the tomatoes (and maybe zucchini), might just fill a veggie void for me, I've been thinking about veggies for the last couple days, and maybe re-boot my system as well.

If anything, it will "clean out" my system, I've also been a little "pebbly poo" like the "marble" discussion of yesterday!!

So, while I sit here typing there's work to be done, so need to get to it!!!

Have a great day everyone!
Jane

NOTHING like fresh tomatoes! I would just eat them plain!

Got up at 6 am and went for my walk! Getting to be a habit now and I'm happy about that!
Put a big Pork Shoulder in the oven today and I cook it slowly for 10hours and it's a yummy pulled pork! Probaby too much fat for Stillman's but I think it will be okay since the other "Meat and Egg" diet allows fat as does Atkins.
I've done Stillmans since Tues. with good results and may have to lean towards Atkins on the weekends, and then back on Stillmans on Monday.

Hope you all have a great day!

Slat - lol about the beer festival.

I'm actually going to enjoy a beer today. Staying pretty much on plan, added a nice salad and some brussels sprouts tonight with dinner. Keeps things a bit more sane but back to strict Stillman's on Monday!

Yea, Slatman, how ya doing on the IOD? Have fun at the Beerfest, good thing you are doing fruits and veggies cuz beer is made from barley and hopps, right? Kinda like veggies, or we can dream...
Oh and you are going to get so wasted after the tiny amounts you've been eating! Stay off your bike or you may crash! lol!

Yep, I've been sticking pretty close but pork shoulder (pulled pork) for dinner so maybe more fat but will be back on strict Stillman's Monday, too for as long as I can handle it! Tues will only be 7 days so it should be no problem!

Good luck all with your weekends! Hang tight!

Today I ate:

Eggs and Canadian bacon (cooked in microwave, very good and no need to oil pan!)
Shrimp cocktail w/ Franks Red Hot (the bomb!)
Pastrami and 2 HB eggs
Pork shoulder roast (shredded w/fat removed) and more Franks Red Hot sprinkled on

-do you think I'm eating too much? I feel like I am but for some reason, I DO get hungry!

Eating too Much - I don't think you're eating too much, you gotta keep your metabolism going and if you stop eating it will shut it down. As long as you're losing weight you are doing okie-dokie!!!

My mistake this week was not eating enough eggs I think - in trying to figure all this out, why I haven't lost any weight, I realized I need to get back to eating my eggs regularly and taking a hb one to work everyday, kind of got out of the habit of doing that.

My "chili" turned out great. I chopped up the zucchini into little pieces in food processor, and also the sausage, and the tomatoes, hamburger and seasoning - it just turned out great. My husband even chowed down on it, he said he thought it was sloppy joes!!! I had big pot full of it by the time I was done so froze 1/2 of it for later.

The greatest thing was that my weight was the same this morning!!! So...I can have this "chili" without it throwing off my diet. Cool......

My hubby brought home some pastries, little bowtie turnover things with apple inside and frosting, gosh they looked good. I told him to put them way up in the cupboard so I couldn't see them and he did. Thank goodness for that or I would be miserable this morning. I don't really crave a lot of stuff, but when I see something I like and it's right in front of me, it is hard, especially on weekends.

I want to hit this diet back hard n' heavy tomorrow and see if I can get past this little plateau of 212. I hit one awhile ago at 218 and thought I'd never break it, but I did. My next goal is to try to get under 210, hopefully I can do that.

Well, I'm just rambling on. Daniel, enjoy the beerfest!!!

Have a nice Sunday.
Jane

You know Jane, that chili may be just what you need to shake it up a bit and tomorrow you may see a loss! It's mentioned several times that our bodies get used to being fed in a certain way and quits losing so it' a good thing to change every so often.

So Monday, you doing hard core Stillman's? I will be there with you. Tues. will only be 7 days for me and I am going for 2 weeks or until I stall again. Do you think that's okay, can just keep going on it for a month or so or is it not safe enough for long term in your opinion?
My fear is now if I start doing the Atkins plan again, I may GAIN instead of lose! If I could just take off this extra 20 pounds first, then go back to it and gradually add in carbs.
I am just so anxious to get down in weight, I have tried every plan out there for the past 6 months and nothing works~!

Twitime,
I'm starting back on strict Stillman's this a.m., I just need to get my focus back. I see that I've gradually relaxed my eating routine over the last week and so that's why I haven't lost any weight. Yesterday also I ended up eating a couple of those pastries so I know that I just need to get back on track. I plan to do Stillman's again until the 13th of Oct. and see how I do. I understand the wanting to lose, I've lost 25 so far, but my overall goal is way beyond that and I want to get down to 199 and will stay on Stillman's till that occurs if I can. I just HAVE to do this, and I'm not giving up, even if I trip up in the meantime.

Stillman's is the only thing that has ever really worked for me long term.

Have a great day!!!
Jane

Well LET'S DO THIS THING THEN!! As long as it's safe to do it until Oct. 13th, I will try and tick with it with you!
No cheating this time, okay? Maybe mini cheats like a few Atkins days, but no more pastries Jane, I will be watching you!! ha ha!
Okay so let's also write down our meals and stay accountable. I stay on plan but I'm sure I eat way too much but that's just me, I am a pig! I am one of those eat till stuffed, not til satisfied, but i will try harder.
Let's go team!
