You should not ADD fat you need the fat like in a steak to keep your hunger
in check and the fat burning... your body STORES fat when you don't eat enough fat...that's just how we're built... it's the reason you lose more on a eat fat get thin diet than someone who is fasting for the same amount of time.

Ita I cut down on eggs and Red meat and was so hungry.
but added them back and ok now.

It's true Donna... I was a grazer and now I don't touch anything between meals it's great!
your control over cheating is also way better...

If you can get as much of the fat as you can through olive oil & coconut oil

Daniel,
I agree with the grazer comment, I used to do that, especially weekends, once I started it was eating something every 1/2-1 hour, maybe not much but still continuous eating during the day, not giving my system time to process, let alone no weight loss, only gaining.

While this time on my modified Stillmans, my weight loss is slower than some, Stillman's has really helped me with the fact that I don't have to eat all day long.

If I get too hungry I know I can have a piece of turkey bacon or maybe an egg, but I don't go to the cupboard anymore for that box of cheese crackers or graze out of the frig. The control aspect of this diet is awesome.

Some days I even have to force myself to eat, in order to keep my metabolism going and lose the weight.

Jane

Veggies on Stillman's?

I see on some of the daily menu posts that some people are eating veggies. My book says 0 carbs. Doesn't say to eat salads or anything, at least the first week or so. What's up with that? Are some of you doing a modified version?

Yesterday: 6 eggs, 3 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts and 3 pieces of lean bacon with the fat removed.

Is that too much food? I felt like I may have gone overboard, but it was day 1 so I just ate all day!

twitime,

stillman's has three different plans some include the the vegies
some of us do qwl for as long as possible then start adding a few
things (low carb)

Stillman's qwl is not healthy for long periods and is almost impossible
to do long term... yes, like momma said we do need our vegies..

If you can do qwl for 10 days straight you'll have the best loss

The first three days on stillmans your calories will be higher than you think they should be... after three or four days when ketosis kicks in your appetite will decrease and you'll have to remind yourself to eat something at times..remember, one cheat and you're back to square one

Thanks Slatman! My problem is not eating when I'm hungry but eating out of boredom! So I guess I'd better get busy and stay off the couch!
Finally it's getting a little cooler here in Arizona, right? So some outside activity is on the horizon! (At least Tucson is cooler than Phoenix!)

I did Atkins Induction for 2 weeks and never got in Ketosis, that's one of the reasons I want to do this! My sticks never turned purple and it just "pissed" me off so much! I just want to see if my body just won't produce them or if I just can't do ANY carbs at all in able for it to work! I lost 6 pounds in the first 4 or 5 days and NOTHING since then! Been doing less than 5 carbs a day plus the fat, but starting yesterday no fat either as with Stillmans. I hope I see purple soon! It's driving me crazy!
Thanks again for all the help and immediate responses. This thread may not be the right one for posting questions, but its where I get the best responses, so thank you and please bear with me!

Twitime,

You did not eat too much food! You are supposed to eat to feel satisfied. No counting carbs or calories. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

About adding those veggies: You are correct - it is a modified version, Stillman's is no veggies at all. However, some feel (as I do) that necessary nutrients and fiber are needed from veggies on occasion.

About those sticks...... I have never had one turn purple yet, so don't put too much reliance on them.
Now I regret buying them -waste of money. LOL!

I know, I feel I wasted $16.99 for nothing except discouragement! Glad I'm not alone there!

Do you used Fitday? It just calcualated my breakfast, 3 whole scrambled eggs and it says 4 carbs! I know eggs do have .6 per egg but was informed they are fine, but wow, I didn't realize that, and I will have 6 eggs a day often! Definately easy to grab a hard boiled egg through out the day!

Thanks again for the input, this team is awesome!

I don't use Fitday. Eat your eggs and don't worry about the carb content!

Have a great day!

Will do!
Thank you "Yoda"!! and I really mean that, I have so many questions and the book is so old that they don't really relate to it.
Like...the DiVinci or Torani sugar free/carb free syrups are okay in coffee or club soda, right? God I hope so, I love them and just bought 3 new bottles! I mix the caramel flavor with a can of club soda and it is the Bomb! Tastes just like Cream Soda! and I know Diet pop is okay on Stillman's but at night the no caffeine aspect works for me!

Thanks again!

Hello!

Sorry for buttin' in, but I would use a bit of caution with the syrups. Even though something says its "sugar free," I mean how your metabolism will work with the syrups and Stillman's.

Best rule of thumb, try just a bit of it at first and if you aren't losing weight then it is counter-acting the diet. Maybe cut down to half of what you're used to using at first and see if you are still losing weight, then increase, something like that.

Just my opinion, no offense intended. I like cappucino and have it once a week, I have been able to get away with having the coffee house put just a dab of sf syrup in for taste and 1/2 the skim milk in my cappucino and it does not affect my diet.

But everyone's metabolism is different too!! I've been trying to cut down on my diet pop and reg coffee intake and drink more water. As everyone says and it is true, that the water (and lots of it), is the key to keeping your system running and all the residue (as it says in the book), flushed out of your system, thus better weight loss....

Good luck on your diet.

Jane

No offense taken!

I will stop using it! Perhaps that's my problem! I use it in my coffee in the morning and in club soda. I will stop and see if the scale moves. Wow, I gave up cream in my coffee and now the Irish Cream flavored syrup! I bet I could give up coffee in a few days too!
I know on Aktins it's fine, but now I am doing Stillmans for a while until something starts happening and I get over this hump! I know I am impatient, but I need to see some results fast or I may give up and that can not be an option right now!
Thanks for your input! Any ideas on how to gt rid of the coffee headache that occurs when an addict such as myself stops? Last time I quit, the headache didn't quit, ever! after a month, I gave in! It was so goooooood!

Coffee Headache

I haven't totally given up coffee, yet, I still have to have a bit of it in the a.m., and if cold at night, 1/2 cup then.
What I've done is gradually added a bit of water in it here and there until I drinking weaker coffee, and the gradual decrease of caffiene hasn't seemed to bother me.

Like the first week, I filled my cup 3/4 full and rest added water, next week, 1/2 cup coffee, the rest water. So my coffee is real weak now, but still drinking it, it is about 1/4 coffee and the rest water.

I love coffee too!! I used to use those liquid creamers and put a bunch in, plus sweetener and it was almost like drinking hot chocolate consistency - I had it so souped up!!!! So I gave up the creamer and the sweetener and just take it black now.

I do allow myself as I said before, one cappucino a week, usually on Friday mornings is my routine.

So if you go "cold turkey" on the coffee you might end up with headaches for sure. Try weakening it up just a bit to start so you don't feel like you're depriving yourself and give your body time to adjust!!!

Wow, I have a headache already just thinking about it! I think just starting off by drinking it black with cut my desire for it a bunch! As it is now I only have 2 cups, tomorrow I will go for just one black and since I don't like it black I may not even finish one cup!
i really don't want this WOE to be any more difficult, you know...I don't want any excuses to quit trying!

Congrats!!

That is a great weight loss, good job! Are you guys weighing in once a week, daily, or once every 2 weeks?

This is only day 3 for me but it's going fine. I really feel I eat too much but it is all allowable food, I just have this problem with portions, I know it and I've always been like that. I hope I don't gain from consuming too much, has anyone done that? Too much protein?

Been sticking to meat and eggs and keeping it lean however tonight we are doing a bunch of pork chops and pork steaks on the grill and I plan on cutting off the excess fat but I hope that cut of pork is okay. My DH just started Atkins induction yesterday so he can eat all the fat he wants but i'm a little leary about pork chops, I would normally pick pork tenderloin.

Keep up the good work everyone!

p.s. I'm drinking my coffee black this am. It doesn't suck too much!

Hi!

Weighing in - I post my weight here every Friday morning, kind of got in that routine. I usually weigh 2X a day at home, once in a.m. when I get up and at bedtime.

I tried to hold off not weighing every day, but I have this thing where I want to know on a daily basis how I'm doing.

What does everyone else do? Weigh every day, 2X a day or more????

I am freaked out! lol! You are my Guru!!

I'm going to switch after a couple weeks of QWL too, but just back to Atkins. Well that's the plan anyway, just to add those veggies!

Good Luck!

p.s. it's probably a good idea to shake things up anyway, you know, shock your metabolism!
Is it cool enough to cycle in Tucson now? I just did my morning walk here in Phoenix, and finally it's cool enough, as long as I'm done by 8 am!

Daniel, good luck on the inches off diet - I've never been a big fruit eater either, let us know how it turns out.

Twitime, since I can't drink anymore, most alcohol makes me ill due to health condition, how I envy those of you who can relax with a cocktail or mixed drink, I miss that sometimes.

So....I am trying to hold out sweet-wise until my b-day in a couple months and I have a weight goal set in my mind (at least 199), and that seems so close, yet so far away.

So at any rate my reward will be a pkg. of Suzy-Q's!!!
