Jeez: Yep meat is ridiculous.. I find it on sale like hamburger meat for 99c a pound and stock up big time and squeeze all the grease out of it and dry it with paper towels. eggs are the cheapest part as well as 1/2 cup of cottage cheese goes a long way.
I hope your using fitday it just looks like your calories would be below 1000 with all the exercise your doing which is probably not a healthy level to maintain Michele: You are doing great! Jane: Great job kicking the exercise up! Jane: Yeah, I'll certainly have to start looking for some sales. Somethings gotta give.... I need variety here, so I'll have to figure something out.
Slatman: What is fitday? (edited to say, I googled it and found the site... nevermind )Stepped on the scale this morning to find that I put on .6 pounds from yesterday. I don't get it. I think this is why I got so unmotivated last time... I had put on .4 pounds by the third day as well, and was being strict and exercising. I'm going to try not to let it bother me.... who am I kidding- it's frustrating. Sheesh, between the food I took in and the exercise I did, I wouldn't doubt that I broke close to the "0" mark on calories yesterday (yes, I know that's very unhealthy.) How the heck do you put on weight if you're not taking in any calories???? Last edited by jeezidunno : 09-06-2007 at 08:55 AM. |

Hi!
My suggestion would be to go back to square one, read the guidelines again. Do you have the QWL book? Read the first couple chapters of that as well. Maybe you aren't eating enough! Plus if you are eating "ham" steak, pork is not allowed on the Stillman's diet. Maybe skip the sf jello for a day or two as well. Just my opinion. I admire your exercise enthusiasm!!!! Keep trying!!! ![]() Jane |

B: Nothing
L: 6 slices turkey bacon D: Omelet w/cheese Other: Well this hasn't happened to me for awhile now and I'm surprised, but I am extremely (how do I put it polietly), constipated. I took a stool softener last night and got some relief this morning, but I am going to try and flush my system today by drinking as much water as I can tolerate (within reason), and hopefully that will do the trick. I'm also going to keep up the exercise and dog-walking tonight, no matter how tired I am, maybe my system just needs to get regulated somehow. Jane |

jeez,
how's your energy level? are you forcing those workouts? are you crashing at night earlier than usual..? is your body saying eat and you're not eating? if so you're body is in conservation/starvation mode and you won't lose.. you have to eat on stillmans and drink water ONLY at least 10 glasses... it's a eat fat get thin diet it's different for everyone how many calories you need to eat to lose for me it's 1200-1600 and I'm never starving for anything.. if I get some hunger pains I'll grab a hb egg or cheese stick Now if someone would invent a zero calorie zero carb beer I would get through those holiday weekends without a gain.... Congrats on your 5 lbs down, Daniel!!!!!!!
![]() Now for me if someone would invent a no-sugar, no-fat, no-carb, no-calorie Suzy-Q that still tastes great, I'd be in heaven. Guess we all have to give up these things for now. Jane |

Is okay, you know, sometimes ya just gotta eat what your mind wants you to have....
My weight hasn't gone anywhere this week, not up, not down. I think I need to actually eat more..... Do you know about Gatorade (sp?) - I've never bought it or drank it, but would it work on QWL? I'm not even sure if it has carbs, etc. or if there is a sf or light version. I guess I could look at the store when I go next too. I'm trying to cut down/delete on my diet coke/carbonation consumption (about = 2-3 cans a day), but need to replace it with something that isn't water. Any other ideas? Thanks! Jane Jane |

jane,
I have the same problem with the beverages I'm not a water person. I keep a pitcher of ice water at my desk and take most of the day to get through it... I'm really trying to eliminate everything but water while on stillmans and have been doing pretty well. Water is the only thing that works with stillmans sorry! especially when in a stall |

Hi Jane/All,
Don't know if this will help or not. But I fill my water bottle with ice. Then I brew a cup of tea (put the tea bag in a cup and add HOT water). I let it sit for 5 minutes or so then I pour the tea into my ice cold water bottle. Fill the rest with ice and water. It's unsweetened ice tea and at least it switches it a little bit and give it a little flavor. Desha |

Ok, so I just got back from WalMart and bought a bunch of stuff... chicken, lean ground sirloin, italian turkey sausage, turkey bacon, catfish, farmers cheese, mozz. string cheese.... I think that's about it. No pork (I didn't realize we weren't supposed to have it.)
That should hold me over for a few days. I also had a bag of frozen shrimp in the freezer which I'm munching on now. I shouldn't even be awake as it's going on 1am and I have to be up at 5:15.... I just got home and realized all I ate today was my eggs and piece of ham for breakfast. I haven't been hungry at all.... figured I had to eat something. I guess that ketosis finally kicked in! I'll pee on a stick in the morning to be sure ) |

Desha: Thanks for the tip about the tea, I like tea as well, will have to give it a try.
Jeez: Sounds like you're stocked up and ready to roll, enjoy! Tammy: Welcome ![]() Well, I got on the scale this a.m. and down by 1.5 lbs. While it's not as much as I would like, I'm still hanging in there as I always think a pound is a pound is a pound. It frustrates me on the 1/2 lbs., but when I stepped on the scale 3X in a row the dial was between 212 & 213 all 3 times, so I'm gonna take the 212.5!!!! I was actually afraid I hadn't lost anything as I got on the scale a day or so ago and nothing had happened. I'll keep plugging away. I bought some tuna, cottage cheese and boiled some eggs last night. My plans are to make deviled eggs using the eggs and cottage cheese, and some tuna salad using the same. I remember doing this one time and liked it well enough. Have a great day everyone. ![]() Jane |

Hi Jane, I drink Diet Rite sf zero carb soda. It's made w/ Splenda and it comes in 4 flavors, cola, tangerine, white grape and berry. I personally like the white grape flavor. It's really good. The diet rite cola may be a good change from the diet coke. I usually have one a day, or it depends on what I'm eating. Sometimes I need an extra one during the day for that extra "burp" factor. I want to do this QWL this weekend. So when you all are eating, your just eating one thing for breakfast lunch and dinner, right?
I see a hamburger patty with cheese for breakfast and a hb patty for lunch. That's it, just a patty. I'm making sure so I'll know not to add anything else. And I do have that list of food too. One more thing, I can't remember, are you staying within a certain amount of carbs or calories? I need to rechecked the info you gave me before. Thanks!! |

Diana,
You can certainly eat more than one thing at each meal. For example, for dinner I usually have chicken or fish AND some cottage cheese. Sometimes when preparing dinner, I munch on a hard boiled egg. In the book, Dr. Stillman said to eat until satisfied (of the foods allowed). No counting calories or carbs. The secret is that by the fourth day or so you don't WANT to eat large amounts because your appetite is gone. ![]() Hope that helps! |

Deviled Eggs
I don't have any special recipe but here's how I do it. Boil the eggs, halve, mix with the hardened yolks in a bowl - cottage cheese and whatever spices you want (I like paparika, dill weed, fresh ground black pepper, garlic salt and onion salt). I then add just enough mustard to make it a pretty yellow. I also add about 1/4 packet of sweetener as to me it just makes it taste a bit better. Then blend all together till real smooth and fill back into egg halves, and chill. I use creamed cottage cheese for this otherwise it doesn't get smooth enough texture for me. I like it creamy and not lumpy. Hope this helps. It's a nice break from eating a dry hard boiled egg!!!! Have a great day all ![]() Jane |
