Hi,I'm new and have a condiments question!

Hello all!
I was wondering if anybody knew if you can have worcestershire sauce on Stillmans?I know some people use steak sauce with no problems, but what about this?

The Heinz kind has 0 calories,0 fat,o sugar, and 0 carbs per tsp,the French's kind has 1 sugar and 1 carb, and Lea and Perrins has 5 calories,1 gram of sugar and 1 carb.Heinz sounds like the best bet,I just need to know if it's ok.

Thanks for your help!

Hi shygirl78,

I'm no expert but I think the "The Heinz kind has 0 calories,0 fat,o sugar, and 0 carbs per tsp" should be fine. I uses a lot of different spices as well some may or may not be perfect but as long as I'm consistent with my menu I lose weight. It's when I fall of the wagon completely. So I season lightly but I pay more attention to trying to stick to my menu.

Hey shygirl78,

Honestly I only lost 5 pounds on Stillmans, BUT IT'S BECAUSE I KEEP FALLING OF THE WAGAON. I want to make sure that's very clear. It's not because the diet doesn't work. I started a new yesterday and I just been praying and meditating to get through the day. I'm trying to take it 1 day at a time.

I must tell you that your stats are very motivating to me. You are currently where I want to be and you started out at 227ish and I’m currently 235.
How did you lose the weight and how long did it take you to get to your current weight?

MotoChik – The only good news out of all my cheating is that since I’m still eating mostly protein I have NOT gained any weight. So you’ve been cheating to. Come on we can do it. Let’s just do it this time. NO EXCUSES

"DON'T GIVE UP"!!!!

The first couple of days on the Stillman's are difficult but my advice is - don't try to "diet" on this diet the first couple days. Like is says in the book, EAT AS MUCH as you want of the things on the diet. It will keep you full so you won't have the cravings.

After the first 3-4 days you will notice some weight loss even though you think you're eating everything in sight of the Stillman's foods.

By the end of the first week you will notice yourself feeling less and less hungry. Especially if you are drinking all the water too. Then you can start figuring out your food each day.

As far as condiments go, I stay away from the oily obvious kinds (like mayo, salad dressing, etc.), but a drop or two of W-sauce or Soy Sauce I don't think will hurt.

When this book was written, I don't believe there were all the things out there we have now, low-fat cottage cheese, 2% cheeses those type of things. Experiment and see what works for you. If you're still losing the weight then you can eat it. (this is all my opinion only and what has worked for me in the past).

I drink diet pop - Diet Coke, but not a lot, maybe 2 cans a day at the most. During Stillman's I go to the store and buy a can or bottle of every type diet pop I can see (mtn dew, grape, orange, chocolate - yes there's one, root beer, sprite). Then when I get a craving for something different I drink one of the other flavored pops and most usually it helps. Flavored waters and teas also work - the key is finding something different that will still work within the diet.

Another secret that works for me is if you just can't take it anymore and you want that piece of cake, do this. Take the smallest piece you think you need to satisfy that craving, I usually try about an 1-inch cube. Before you eat your next meal, eat that small piece as slow as you can before, then right away, eat all the protein you are supposed to. That has kept me on the diet many times, and has never thrown me off. The secret is a "bite-sized" portion.

You need to give yourself some credit, it's hard to change all those habits overnight. Take it one day at a time, if you mess up don't get down on yourself, try again the next day, and again, and again.

You are worth it!

Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day.

FIGHT for what you want deep inside yourself - to be able to let the person you have always desired to be, weight wise, to step out of the body you are now in and dance, laugh, run, sing, you name it!

Hope this helps!

Hey Jane,

This message was right on time for me. Thanks a lot for writing it. I think you’re right I have been trying to diet while I’m still hungry. I was trying the kimkins boot camp but after I eat my 500 calories I’m still hungry. So here’s what I’m going to do, start stillmans QWL tomorrow (no veggies) and just eat until I’m satisfied for next 7 days. Then you said after that ketosis will set in and I won’t be hungry anymore.

I think I tried but I cheated so much that my body hasn’t really be able to get into ketosis. I’ve always been hungry. I promise myself that I’m going to make an effort to do QWL for 1 week and see how I feel afterward. I’ll keep you posted.

LoveJohn,

Ok so I brought 3 Talpia Fish, 4 turkey burgers, and 2 boiled eggs to work today. Now I'm thinking to myself I can’t possible eat all this, but I wanted to be prepared like you said. I also left my wallet at home. I figure if I don’t have any money I can’t buy any food. LOL

Have a good day.

One day at a time! After dinner, keep yourself busy, do something you haven't done for awhile, even if you are tired from work. You don't have to go out, but re-arrange your CD or bookshelves, clean out a closet, something like that, or do something fun...Just make the evening different too, it will keep your mind off food.

I'll check in tomorrow!

Hi I'm new too... and today I am starting Stillmans... just a few quick questions...

Can I use Chef Paul Prudhommes Magic Seasoning Blends? Poultry Magic; the label only shows Sodium 105 mg - 4%. Also, is it okay to eat 4%milkfat Cottage Cheese? and i know this is dumb but grilling is ok...right? Thanks for everyone's input & wish me luck..
I have been doing Atkins & have lost 44lbs since mid-April; I am really pumped to do QWL - I have a couple of friends that have gastric bypass...but i'm just not able to do that. I know they eat alot of protein; lost 100+lbs within a year... so why wouldn't QWL work?? It's pretty much the same concept...protein & vitamins... Speaking of vitamins.. any kind?? I have Centruim right now...

thanks & ttyl

ls135 - Grilling is fine. I'm thinking if Poultry Magic doesn't have any sugar it's probably ok as well. Not sure about the milk maybe someone with more experience can answer that. Also I use Centruim or what ever else I see in the supermarket. BTW, congrats on losing 44 pounds that's a big deal

Jane – I think I’m experiencing SNATT this morning. It seems to be getting a little better after I eat. Still I brought my food to work and I’m ready for another cheat free day.

MotoChik – You’ve been on my mind. Please let me know how you’re doing?

Hey! Glad you made it through the day!

And I'm new here so I don't know all the terms, what is SNATT?

I had a bit of a wander last night, my hubby came back from the store with some chocolate stuff and cheese crackers that I love. I took one cracker and this sounds funny, but just sniffed it for a while and did okay.

I had to have a sugar-free jello though to fight the sweet craving. The worst time for me is late in the evening when I'm really tired and still get to thinking about food at that time. Go jello!

Have a great day all! I'm down by 12 today, so really happy with that.

SNATT - Semi nausea all the time
I notice that I only seem to experience this in the morning before I eat. Thank Goodness, I don’t know if I could handle this feeling all day.

Wow 12 pounds that’s great. I can’t wait until I start losing. I’m positive when I start experiencing weight loss that will motivate me to step away from the carbs. Honestly, right now I’m too nervous to step on the scale. I put it away and I don’t think I want to step on it until maybe August 18th (just thought I’d pick a day).

Sorry to hear about your SNATT. Maybe a small protein snack before bed might help.

Good idea on the weighing! I try not to weigh myself every day, as I know some days the scale won't show a loss but other days it will.

Have a great day!

Desha - thanks for the help!! Good idea about the scale... I try not to get on it everyday - but I love putting on clothes that used to be tight! I doing okay...waiting for my chicken to defrost... I've read most of Dr Stillmans book... and least the first half of QWL- he doesn't specifiy portions... just eat until your full. I'm trying to semi-fast...I really wanna loose 12-15lbs my first week... so i don't think i'll get on the scale until next Friday. I agree with you... losing will definitely keep me motivated!!! I'm so glad I found this website - everyone's so helpful & motivating. Have a cheat free day & keep us posted!!!

thanks again

Hey Desha,
I forgot to ask you if you were taking any vitamins?

I take (2) of the One-A-Day "weight smart" vitamins (in a green box). I think it really helps. In the beginning I wanted to go to the health food store and do my own blend of supplements, but that is sooooo expensive. I remembered the weight smart ones I took before and started on them again. I've also tried the "carb smart" ones by One-A-Day, but they didn't seem to do much for me at all.

I take the vitamins right after lunch when I start drinking my water. On & off through the afternoon I sip on my 64-oz. water and by the end of the work day usually have it all drank. It keeps me feeling full all afternoon and that way if I have my water drank by early evening, I don't have to get up in the middle of the night for relief.

The vitamins perk me up a little bit and help me feel good the rest of the day.

Just a thought....have a good one!

Hi J,

Yes I’m taking Centrum now, but when the bottle is finished---I think I’ll try the “weight smart” vitamins. Also I think taking 2 is a good idea.

So far today it’s been a good day. NO cheating. I’m just hoping the weekend will fly by because I know by Monday my hungry/withdrawal pains will go away. I’m committed and I going to do it.

Take it easy,
Desha

Hi Deisha!

Well I started last year,around May or June.No special diet or anything,just tons of water,veggies,fruits,lean meats,wheat bread,that kinda thing.I live close to a 20 mile bike path,so I started small,just 1 mile,then 2 miles a day,then after a few months,I was walking 12 miles.

I lost like 54 pounds in 3 or so months, then fall came and it got cold and rainy,so my walking days were over intil this spring...I guess you can say I took the fall and winter off?LOL!During that time,I wasn't dieting, but I ate what I wanted,in small portions...when Spring came,I didn't gain any back,so that's cool.

When May hit,I was back to walking in full force, and this time found a diet called 'The Fat Flush'...it worked AWESOME for the first month, then my weight loss slowed to a crawl and just STOPPED!I tried to go back to low fat, didn't work!

So I found about about Stillmans online, tried it,and here I am...I've been losing about a pound a day on this, and so works,it's just awesome.

Hello,
I'm doing great this a.m., full of energy and positive thoughts. The scale showed a 14 lb. weight loss this morning, so I'm on my way.

I have a pot luck bbq to go to this evening, so it will be a test for me as I love the dips/crackers/cheese ball stuff - you know finger foods that are easy to pick up with your fingers they always have!! But..... I'm taking some turkey sausage and low-fat cheese cut in squares, and I know I can eat the hamburgers and if I get tempted, can eat the turkey sausage and cheese. With the scale being "friendly" this morning, it will give me some positive will power to make it through the evening. I'm going to eat my evening meal before I go so I won't be too hungry.

This is an all evening event, so I know I'll be tempted to eat later, so I'll just have to try and hang in there.

Hope you all have a great day!! Desha, let me know how you're doing!

Take care
J

Hey Everyone,

First let me say I'm doing very well. NO Cheating AT ALL. I even feel lighter but I'll wait until August 18th for the drum roll . Anyway, I mowed the lawn today and man that was a work out.

ls135 - yes I think I'm going to stick with weighing myself every 2 weeks. That way I'll see a reasonable drop in weight. Also, for me sometimes stepping on the scale can be a little distracting and somewhat addicting.
I have read half way through the QWL book as well. There is some good information in the book. Well keep up the good work and stay motivated.

shygirl78 - Thanks for sharing your story with me. Wow a pound a day. Keep up the good work. Your motivating me right now as I type

J - You'll be fine at the BBQ. Just think about the 14 pounds you work so hard to lose. When it comes down to it---A cheat is really not worth it.

Take it easy,
Desha

Hi All,
Did great at the BBQ, no cheating. I drank a whole glass of water after my meal before I went, and I wasn't even hungry - even the smell of the grill or the sight of the pot luck layout didn't phase me, so I enjoyed the evening very much.

Hope you all have a great Sunday, I'm working at home today on paperwork so will keep busy, it's hot here today and definately indoor activities are best.

Hi All,
Just wanted to say have a good Monday!!!

Jane,
I made through the weekend cheat-free. I can't even believe it. But I’m going to really have to dig deep the next few days. It’s that time of the month and honestly I’ve completed 4 cheat-free days and I still get really hungry. So I’m assuming it’s going to take a little longer for me to lose the hungry feeling. You have no idea how your long message motivated me a few days ago. I really appreciate you taking the time to write it. I know this week will be challenging but I’m up for the challenge. I can tell that I have lost weight already but not sure how much but if I had to take guess by my clothes and the way I feel I would say 10 pounds. I’m really trying to commit my self to staying on track until at least August 18. Then when I see my results I pray that will motivate me to push on for another 2 weeks and so on and so forth.

Desha,
Yea - 4 days!! Way to go!!!

Give your self a pat on the back and one on your tummy as I imagine you feel it smaller by now. That's one thing I like about the Stillman's, my stomach used to just kind of hang out there. Well it still does, but not as much and it feels good to walk by a mirror and not see myself as pooching out all over.

I understand still being hungry, it is difficult, but keep going. If you find yourself getting hungry, go ahead and eat a little more of the Stillman stuff.

I always try to remember (but doesn't always work when I'm hungry), that I didn't gain this weight overnight, I gained it bite by bite.

But I feel like on Stillman's I can lose it bite-by-bite - if I'm hungry I eat a little more with maybe a different seasoning on it just to make my mind think I've had some other food. It works most of the time.

Keep going!!!!

I'm at a standstill today. I got hungry late last night and had a plain cheeseburger right before bed, so my stomach wasn't as empty as it should have been this a.m.

I'm going to wait until Friday to weigh myself this week I think.

Have a great day, talk to ya later!
Jane

Desha,
I forgot to thank you as well, for being able to talk about the diet and feelings and such. It felt good to find this site and also learn that there were others out there who had the same struggle with weight, actually talk to them, people like you and the others I've read posts of. It keeps me motivated to stick with it as I get tempted just as easy as everyone else. Thanks to all of you for being there!!! Together we can do it!!!
