Popping in quickly..........Thanks Susan for putting up my new Avitar picture....this is how I look for the moment.......I'm always a changing something about myself.........

Doit~~~ Whew girl, you are doing good, I'm still so bloated from not getting in my water that I am not weighing in until tomorrow morning.......I know it will be up a few pounds. You'll see the 80's again soon......just drink, drink, drink.

Melly~~~ Hope you get everything worked out with your mom.

Jennifer~~~ I don't do pictures either, that's what I have a DH and sister for..........

Michele~~~ One more pound for 30........WTG!!

Pammy~~~ Thanks for the hugs..............Dad took another turn for the worst Saturday night........didn't even recognize my brother or me again yesterday......guess that's the way it's going to be from here on out, he'll know us some days and other days he won't........it's sad.

Laura~~~ Put down that crap........I'm having trouble putting stuff down right now myself.......I can't believe I was doing so well then with all the illnesses in the family caused me to eat off plan because I was coming and going........I've got to do better from here on out.

Karen and Laura... I have been thru.... dramas from hell in the past 1 1/2 year..... the only thing I have taken pride and moment to moment joy in is my steady no cheat eating and looking fantastic...

Hold on Life is Good.... and hold on to your new way of eating.... and you too can enjoy how you look and feel... I have more energy than when I was 12... cuz at 12 I weighed 170...

not much we can control in our lives.... but we can live cheat free and love it... I do.. hugs...

Hi Girls!!
Things are being worked out with my mom.....hope to have her in a private room by Wednesday. I went in this morning and tlaked to the Director of Nursing and the Administrator of the facility. They were very kind and assured me that the situation would be rectified. She was a bit flustered this morning when I got there and I am afraid she is becoming a bit depressed and I voiced my concerns about that and they are very concerned that the situation the other night may have been the cause of her sudden change in outlook. They are working very hard to make her comfortable and at ease.

I made it back to the gym this morning........boy did it feel good to be back.....it had been 2 weeks since I had been there and coupled with eating like a slob I was feeling like a slug!!! My eating is good and the exercise is sure to leave me feeling sore and wanting more.....kinda sick huh?

Thanks again girls for all you love and prayers and thoughts......you girls are the best.

Karen I love your new avitar

Hi Ladies.............

I've changed my siggie..........back up to 195..........

But I'm really trying to stay on track now.

Went to see Dad this morning and he is still talking out of his mind. He told me he was getting married today............ Alot of things he says is funny but I'm really sad for him. I know that when I was nursing and worked in a nursing home it was best to "go along" with what patients like him said, it keeps them from getting so agitated. Some of the CNA's aren't doing that and he is getting really mad with them, they told me it took 4 people to get him to lay down in the bed last night.

Doit~~~ You are still beating me, but I'm trying to get back to giving you a run for your money.

Melly~~~ Hope your mom gets to feeling better, maybe she won't have to be there too long.

Pammy~~~ Hope your blues pass quickly.

Hi to everyone else, I'll try and check back in later today.

Hey girls.......I'm present and accounted for I made it to the gym this morning and feel pretty good........things are a little better with my mom.....at least as far as her care is concerned.....I am a little worried that she is becoming a bit depressed and talked to the doctor about it. [From Sports Illustrated, By Rick Reilly]

I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay for their text messaging. Take them to places.

But compared with Dick Hoyt, I suck.

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars-all in t he same day.

Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. on a bike. Makes taking your son bowling look a little lame, right?

And what has Rick done for his father? Not much-except save his life.

This love story began in Winchester , Mass. , 43 years ago, when Rick was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs.

"He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life;" Dick says doctors told him and his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. "Put him in an institution."

But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was anything to help the boy communicate. "No way," Dick says he was told.
"There's nothing going on in his brain."

"Tell him a joke," Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a lot was going on in his brain.

Rigged up with a computer that allowed him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? "Go Bruins!" And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the school organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, "Dad, I want to do that."

Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described "porker" who never ran more than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he tried. "Then it was me who was handicapped," Dick says. "I was sore for two weeks." That day changed Rick's life. "Dad," he typed, "when we were running, it felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!"

And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon .

"No way," Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few years Dick and Rick just joined the massive field and ran anyway, then they found a way to get into the race officially: In 1983 they ran
another marathon so fast they made the qualifying time for Boston the following year.

Then somebody said, "Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?"

How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick tried.

Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii . It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you think?

Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? "No way," he says. Dick does it purely for "the awesome feeling" he gets seeing Rick with a cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together.

This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon , in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best time'? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992--only 35 minutes off the world record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the time.

"No question about it," Rick types. "My dad is the Father of the Century."

And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries was 95% clogged. "If you hadn't been in such great shape," one doctor told him, "you probably would've died 15 years ago." So, in a
way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life.

Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston , and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland , Mass. , always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every > weekend, including this Father's Day.

That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy. "The thing I'd most like," Rick types, "is that my dad sits in the chair and I push him once."

Michele... you are right on track... and will see the next 10 lbs go shortly....
10 a month... is what I did... all the way to 127.... you go girl...

Melly.... depression is the enemy... my mom slipped so far I thought I was not going to get her back... went to take her to the doctors and she was sitting "ready" without her bra on... I have never seen her without her shoes...Keds.. on and tied... forget about her going around the house even with ou
