Stillman to Scarsdale? Sandooch? Cartbabe?

Anyone have any advice on whether I should transition from Stillman to Atkins or to Scarsdale.
I was reading through old posts and I think it was Sandooch? or Cartbabe? who was talking about losing on Scarsdale with low carb and lowfat, I thought maybe it might be easier than Atkins after eating only lowfat protein for a week.
I will die if I regain this weight!!!!

Hi Feather!

I did Scarsdale for about 3 months (2 weeks on program then 2 weeks on the Keep Trim program) and lost 27 pounds during that time. I loved that diet, but it is strict. There is no adding fat to it, so you may miss that if you are used to Atkins. I got used to it, though. I would lose anywhere from 5-8 pounds during the 2-week strict portion of the diet, then either maintain or lose a pound or two more during the Keep Trim portion of the diet.

I'm not sure about Stillman's. Never tried it.

Good luck!

Sandooch,
Stillmans is just low-fat protein, cottage cheese and eggs.
No added fat or carbs.
Since I havent followed ANY diet in about a year, my body isnt really used to anything, except eating whatever and whenever.
But since I followed Stillmans all week and did lose some weight, I am afraid it will all come back if I add fat and carbs, so I thought I might do Scarsdale for the two weeks and THEN Atkins.
Someone else suggested I just do Atkins 72.
Im looking for info for both to compare.

Wow, if that's all you get to eat on Stillman's, I think you'd like Scarsdale. You get to have bread and fruit every day on it (fruit if you choose the substitute lunch every day).

Let us know what you decide.

I have done Atkins, Stillmans, and Scarsdale.

My heart belongs to Scarsdale.

So, I'd say give Scarsdale a try, you may be hooked... Though yes, I am just a little biased.... LOL

This sounds hopeful, so far.
Any negative remarks?
What are the drawbacks/ side effects on Scarsdale?
How many carbs a day do you eat?

You don't count carbs - or anything for that matter!

I thought I would miss the flexibility of eating whenever I wanted to, as supposed to just the three meals, without snacking inbetween, though I do not miss it at all - I'm not hungry nor do I crave anything.

Side effects of Scarsdale - Achieving that "Scarsdale High"... That OMG I feel and look INCREDIBLE!!!!! Can't think of any negative side effects!!!

I really was very sceptical about this plan before giving it a go - then I decided I should give it a try - it's just two weeks. I'm SO glad I did!

Hi Crystal! (((HUGS)))

I'd say the only drawbacks for me is not adding in the additional fats, but you do get used to that.

My favorite Lady in Red... Hi Sweety!!!!

Yes, that's right about that fats. Sandy, you just reminded me that in the beginning I did consider this a huge drawback. Though over time my tastes changed and adjusted to this WOE, and I now prefer the taste of not using additional fats.

You just reminded me of that natural high we got at the beginning of Scarsdale. Remember our silly, high-on life posts to one another on the challenge thread. I swear, it was like we were on happy pills.

Thanks Sunabee & Sandooch!
I'm willing to give it a try, I will go shopping tomorrow, will be great to buy some produce again!
How much do you generally lose the first week?
What do you do after that, just keep repeating the same menus over and over?
Would you recommend this over Atkins 72?
I really miss eating vegetables, though I wouldnt mind having a little fats.
Still, if Scarsdale works and makes you feel so great, I am willing to try this!

The first round with it (2 weeks) I lost 8 pounds. I think the second round was 6 pounds and the third 5. I don't believe I never lost less than 5 pounds in 2 weeks.

WOE: Eating for the baby. :)
As long as you add back veggies and fats slowly you should not gain. If you do gain it will be water weight due to your body "grabbing" onto any carbs to produce glycogen.

As long as you don't eat more calories than you burn during the day you will NOT gain any weight.

Don't let a slight jump up on the scale scare you away from eating veggies and some fat.

I went from stillmans to atkins with out a problem. On stillmans I lost 9.5lbs in 4 days then transistioned over by slowly adding back veggies, mushrooms one day, next day spinach and the third day a couple of BIG salads with blue cheese dressing...then very next day full blown atkins..NEVER gained an ounce back! i too was very afraid of that! but I had no problems. Good luck....

PS..what is scarsdale? can anyone post all the info on it? Or just tell me the rules? thanks

If you wish, you may substitute the following lunch for any lunch, any day, on the Scarsdale Medical Diet.

Sliced fruit, all you want
6 halves of walnuts or pecans, whole or chopped, and mixed with the above or sprinkled over the fruit

(Tip: puree the cottage cheese & sour cream to make a whipped topping, serve over mixed berries & top w/ chopped nuts for a "sundae")

SECOND WEEK OF SCARSDALE MEDICAL DIET
Repeat all menus of the first week. It's as simple as that. If after fourteen days, you still need to lose weight, switch to Keep-Trim Eating for two weeks, [before going back on the SMD.]
Read The Two On Two Off and Keep Trim Links

I went on it for six weeks and lost 23 pounds before my breast reduction surgery four years ago. It's a great plan! I also highly recommend the Substitute lunch (except I ate one cup of cottage cheese and didn't eat the sour cream.) You might have to get used to your stomach growling from the lack of fat at first.

You can use a low-carb bread. I just use whatever bread I can find with the highest amount of protein per slice and have had wonderful results with it.

WOE: Atkins---GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried the Scarsdale diet and LOVED it! I loved having bread and fruit everyday and didn't miss the added fat! The weight loss was GREAT! I am currently on Atkins, but will evenually go back to Scarsdale sometime soon. Atkins is still working great for me right now and it is difficult for me to do Scarsdale with fruit not being in season and me currently being unemployed

I used a LC wheat bread last time doing Scarsdale. Anyone have any brands/types they have been most successful with? What is average amount of protein that you have found in a LC store bought bread? Just curious...
