SOOO Confused...help Stillmans/ME

Hi! I am so confused. I think I have been reading too much. I did Stillmans for one day but I did add 1 tsp of miracle whip. Weighed myself this morning and I was down .5! WHAT!?! That doens't seem right. Discouraging to say the least. Now I know I added that miracle whip but could that really throw the diet because wouln't that almost be like being on the FF or M/E? Aren't they very similiar? Please no bashing about the miracle whip - I won't have any but really there was only like 1 carb and 1 fat in the amount I had.
Any way I could use some advice and input! Thank you soo much!!!

If you want the best results possible with any plan, you have to follow the plan. It really is just that simple. Eat clean and give it time. You will see results. Best of luck to you.

Did you expect to drop 10 pounds in 24 hours???
Not quite sure what you're discouraged about.
Sounds to me like you're looking for a miracle diet plan. Changing eating habits and exercising will show results. Not fad diets.

mork - I only use Stillman to get back into ketosis. I have tried it for weight loss and for me it doesn't work. FOr my body, only protein DOES NOT equal weight loss. I will lose water weight IF I have been eating too many carbs but then that is the reason I do Stillman every once in awhile. Also it sometimes takes several days to see a loss on the scale.
Good luck but don't expect miracles overnight. That doesn't usually happen. Sorry. I sure wish it did though.

the key to Stillman's is that it is as little fat as possible. Lean meats..no fats to cook etc.

If you want the dramatic results of Stillman's..then you have to do stillman's there is no little cheat if you want dramatic results.

Just want to add..that most lose a lot fast on Stillman's..but just like any ketosis plan..you have to first get into ketosis! One day may not be enough to see the big #'s many do on Stillman's It's also going to have a lot to do with what you we're eating right before Stillman's..and probably also about how much you need to lose. I usually show little to no loss my first day when doing Stillman's..but then by day 2-3 start to lose 1 lb a day for the first week ( so average loss for ME is 5-6 lbs the first week)

Thanks! I will keep plugging along. I won't have the miracle whip today!! I just really need some dramatic results this month. It is just so easy to get discouraged when you compare to others and when you have failed so many times. Anyway....Have a good day. I will check back in later. Mork

Please dont compare to my results Mork. I lost 5lbs in the first day..but it was ALL water. The 6 days before that I was enjoying nothing but x mas goodies!
Plus my first day, my calories were only 500 and I worked out. my meals consisted of cod and cottage cheese. I was really extreme. Don't expect to get the results I did. Plus I am way overweight..I dunno how much you weigh.

But .5 is a great start! Keep it up. YOU CAN DO IT.

Just stick with it and don't stress too much over a little miricle whip. I cook my meat in olive oil when I do m/e and I nibble on the fat off of the meat too, and I always lose fine on it.

Mork, first of all good luck in your journey.

But slow down...you can't expect to lose all your weight in one day...I had to re-read your post to make sure you said one day...my goodness. You did not put it on in one day and you are not going to take it off in one day. I am doing m/e right now (minus the eggs) and have lost 2.5lbs in one day, I did it once before for 17 days and lost 17lbs...

I have been much like you in the past...wanting a quick fix and when I did not get it I would cheat or just give up. I've realized that I have to be patient that sticking to plan is the most important part of any diet. No mayo or fats not allowed on the plan and you will be fine. Take it one day at a time...we have a 1 week challenge going on in the LC Challenge area...day by day...sooner or later you will see the weight melt away.

good luck

G

0.5 lbs in one day seems pretty good to me....that would be 15 lbs lost in one month
give it a little time.

Hi Mork,
I joined your challenge on the other thread. This is my second day on Stillmans too, except I am not weighing myself until the end of the week.

Here is some Stillman info I found online, hopefully this will come in handy:

This is a severe form of ketogenic diet. It is not easily sustainable for the longterm.

It may be useful in breaking plateaus and in those too impatient to allow their bodies to take the fat off gradually at its own pace.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT MENTIONED [ON THE] LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

If you disregard the instructions and eat regular carbohydrates or sugar or alcohol, you will stop burning up stored fat as efficiently.

Even one indiscretion, one mouthful of ice cream, for example, will set you back a day or two.

The thing that I really dont understand about this diet is how ketchup and cocktail sauce are allowed when they have tons of sugar and salt, EVEN in moderation.
Guess that just shows how important it is to watch the FAT on Stillman, more than the sugar carbs.

I agree with everyone here Mork - you should be proud of your loss and not worry.

ketchup and cocktail sauce we're allowed because frankly, this was started way way back in the days when there was no low-carb catsup! I guess they figured your so restricted in fat..they had to give you something so you wouldn't go up on the bell tower and start shooting

When I do stillman's..I use a very small amount of carb smart catsup, and that's only when I feel as if I'm about to snap

I tried Stillman's twice in 2004 while I was following an induction regime. In both cases I lost about 5 pounds in 4 days. I think I'll give it another go. It dawns on me that the Hot and Sour soup I make is quite Stillman's-friendly.

- Chicken stock
- Soy sauce
- Lean meat (chicken or pork tenderloin)
- Vinegar
- Ground white pepper
- Egg

I normally add some veggies and a tablespoon of sour cream, but I'll leave that out. This soup is good and it fills me up. It's also relatively low cal.

LisaRae,
Thanks for the tip! I was feeling wretched knowing I was eating sugar + corn syrup + all that salt. Since I finished the last of the ketchup packets I had around from burger deliveries, I will head over to the store tomorrow and get some carbfit ketchup. I saw some ketoketchup in the store once but it was $8.99 a bottle so I didnt get it!!!

Dougloid,
I asked on another thread if we are permitted to have soy sauce and vinegar.

Im usually pretty sodium sensitive, and especially during TOM like now,
but I barely made it home from the store tonight I had to tinkle so badly!
Sorry for too much information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mork, please let us know what you mean about your day...maybe we can help.

Today is day 3 of m/e (minus the eggs) and I'm doing quite well. Yesterday all I ate all day was chicken...nothing else. I had plenty of liquids. So far so good. I can feel my appetite decreasing and the cravings are coming under control. I am in ketosis this morning (light pink) I have found the longer it takes for me to get into ketosis the more I lose in the first week so I'm a little upset that I was able to get here so fast...feeling good...I weigh in again tomorrow morning. I am hoping to get on the tm tonight and really push this weight loss over the top.

Good morning. Thanks for asking. I guess what I meant was I didn't follow the plan to a T and am little embarresed. I act as if I want it sooo bad( lose weight) and then I do that. I do really want to lose and I NEED to lose the weight. Anyway, back on track today and I was down another .5 so not too bad. I think I am going to do the same and not weigh for a few days- let my body adjust. I am going to fry myself some eggs right now and will check back in later. I anxious to hear your loss. I bet it will be great! Have a great day! Mork

Hi Mork...you sound so down...you sound so much like me in the beginning...I wanted that weight off RIGHT NOW and nothing anybody could say to me would make me feel better about it not going anywhere...it took me a while to realize that if I stick to plan and stay off the scale I am mentally a happier person...

As far as not sounding like you really want it...I believe you want to lose and so does everybody else here...there is no doubt that you want it...but you want it toooo hard. I mean you are stressing yourself out over .5lbs and not appreciating that .5 is less than you were a day ago...you have to pat yourself on the back and tell yourself you are going in the right direction...try to be patient...alot of people here are going to laugh when they see me post this but it was their advice that got me here...and I thank them. The first time I did m/e I was not losing at all in the beginning and was on a challenge vine that had people dropping weight all around me...I was angry at myself and jealous of them...it ate me up...then around day 9 I got on the scale and what do you know...9lbs gone...I have no idea how that happened but it did. I learned at that time how much damage I was doing to myself mentally and how much I was sabatoging my diet by stressing over the scale (I came close to throwing in the towel several times in those 9 days) I know you want it...now get it. Change the way you think about weight loss and food and you will be successful. If you want I would love to be your daily coach (It will help me get through this month also) post here everyday...each time you feel like slipping - post before you slip - if I'm not here someone else will read it and help you through. But let us help. Be honest with us and yourself and NEVER feel as if you are letting us down because you are having a difficult time...we have all been there. But most important understand this is a growing process and you have to understand that though a cheat is not beneficial to you in anyway...you can recover from it...each time you brush yourself off you will become stronger and you will be successful.

Thank you so much for those kind words. It is just so easy to beat yourself up and I constantly think to myself -how did I let myself get to this point!?!?
I know it doesn't help to focus on the past and what I ate to get me here. So ahead I go....
I will plan on posting often. The support will be great. I did start a Stillmans thread I wonder if they will move over here or us there?
I can get sooo crabby when I can't eat what I want even if I am not hungry! OH well this to shall pass! I need to lose about 30lbs but feels like a lot more. I am going to take it one day at a time. That is all I can do! I love to read about others progress so post-post-post.
Well, I am going to eat lunch -chicken breast and maybe a little cottage cheese! Mork

Stillmans - M/E - FF are very unique and very different from one another

You can't combine the 3 and get the same results as people who followed each to T

There's plenty of low-carb plans - research them all and stick with the one that you think you can follow with realitve ease.

Sometimes it's better to cross the bridge going 35 mph rather then 70mph

What about it made you think it fried your "kindeys" or please be more specific, I am assuming you are talking about a vital organ

the pain I experienced doing ff was unreal. I could not sit could not stand could not pee...was even hard to breath...it was terrible...finally went to the doc and he told me I had to drink more water and get off the ff...so I did and I'm better.

BTW, I believe Dr. Atkins warns about this in his book...this can be dangerous if not done properly or if done for weight loss, it is only intended to see if you are GI...and should not be done for prolonged periods...at least that is what he says...this was during my I want the weight off over night phase...over that.
