Stillmans is an extreme form of low carbing because it is also low fat. If you do a Google on Stillmans diet, you will find information. Stillmans is basically meat and eggs - no processed meats, and no vegetables. Some people love it, but I can't do it for a long time because it's totally boring.

The book, Living the Low-Carb Way, by Jonny Bowden, states it's the worst idea in low-carbing because without the fats, you can feel very nauseated and weak on a LC plan. It's an old plan that came out in the late 60s or early 70s.

I did it once faithfully for two weeks, lost 17 pounds, and was so weak I could barely hold up my arm. This never happens on the modern LC diets.

I just want to say..I've used Stillman's a few times along my 5+ years of low-carbing. I usually resist mentioning it to people..because I believe it can easily become another "quick fix" to those who haven't tried a lifetime plan or have not taken the time to learn about low-carbing in general. ( it always amazes me when you ask someone what plan their on, yet they have never even started to read the book for that plan..but are going by what they hear..)

For me, I've used it when feeling very out of control with food..or when I wasz stuck for a good 8 weeks with no loss. I did have dramatic result, yet I also felt like I was very much on a "fad diet" I have done it for 5 weeks..but seem to have only loss results the first 2 weeks..and so I only do it in 2 week stretches.

I don't find the lack of energy..as a matter of fact..I get that energy boost many have when first in ketosis, but X's 10! By week 3 it seems to go away and I get lathargic..yet one more reason to only do it short-term then get back to my good healthy veggies

Stillman's is basically low-fat/low-carbs. The basics are lean meats ( so no skin on chicken, very lean cuts of beef, lower fat fish) eggs and soft cheeses ( like pot cheese or cottage) that's it. NO fat to cook with, no veggies or fruit, no sauces or treats, oh yeah..and NO FUN! (LOL)

The usuall diet of stillmans is very boring. This is what mine typically was

breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs
lunch: cod or chicken with fat free cottage cheese
dinner: same as lunch.

I ddint feel like I was starving or anything. lost 5lbs my first day..(water weight from the holidays!) but after 4 days I just HAD to start adding veggies back in. I am back to LC already and still plugging along greatly!

Second Day on Stillman's

Hi everybody,
I have been busy reading pages of past posts and now I will add one of my own!

I googled the diet and found some sites listing info about Stillmans Quick Weight Loss Repetition diets and Stillman Legal recipes.
They said you can mix the repetition diets with regular Stillman's.

They also said you can lose between 7 - 15% of your body weight the first week.

The diet just lists LEAN fish "such as flounder, haddock, cod and perch"
I guess that means I cant have a tuna or salmon steak????
Anyone know? Those are really my favorites.

Good luck to everyone!

I've read the Skillman’s book & have followed the plan & it works great for me. I lose weight & feel great. I’ve only done this for a two-week period because I don’t have much to lose. The book states that once you reach your goal weight you don’t stay on the plan. Dr. Still man offers many (more than 20 I think) plans to maintain your new weight, all listed in the book. He also offers several quick weight loss plans & a yogurt fast is one of them. Stillman’s is definitely one of those plans you need to learn about by reading the book.

I started Stillmans yesterday, and I'm down 4 pounds. So far so good today. I actually haven't thought about food all day. I did have a huge headache this morning, I took 3 advil and it was gone in an hour. Felt really good this afternoon. Had lots of energy. Tonight I'm going to do my walking tapee.
