Results with Stillmans

So I am thinking about starting stillmans today and doing it till new years. I have heard of some good results with this WOE. I just wanted to ask you guys if you have tried it, what your results were and what you ate on a daily basis? It is very restrictive, do you get bored? lol. I guess what I am really asking for is to hear some good things so it will motivate me! lol.
Have a great day all!

I've used Stillman's several times along my weightloss journey. I seem to have just about the same results regardless if I had 60 lbs to lose or when I had 15!! My body just seem to react the same way each time.

This is how MY loss goes on Stillman's:
Week 1: 4-6 lbs
Week 2: 2 lbs
Week 3+: no loss

It seems that my body reacts very well the first week or 2..but then I don't seem to lose after that. For me..since I had had the same results several times, I do Stillman's for only 2 weeks. On week 3 I add back in a small salad or a cup of cooked veggies ( usually steamed broccoli) and then slowly add more vegies and fat in so that I'm back to induction levels after 1-2 weeks ( so that would be weeks 3-4)

I'm not going to lie..Yes, It's very boring and very restrictive...and to me that's why it's not something I would do long-term. It works well for me as a tool to get back on track..or to shake-up my body when stuck for long periods doing Atkis ( what I would call my lifetime plan)

Also..Not sure if their still arund, but there was a great group of Stillmansers on the Challenge bored that helped me tons! Nothing like having someone to complain too, who understands (LOL)

My basic menu for week one is:
Scrambled eggs ( in pam) for breakfast
Chicken or lean steak for lunch
Protein for dinner

Snacks for week one are : 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese and hard boiled eggs

Week 2 is the same..but I cut out the cottage cheese

I cook protein by broileing, bakeing or crock pot. ( rememember, no added fat when cooking)

Now the cottage cheese has to be low fat or fat free? Or am I wrong?

I had to go to Stillmans to lose... Stillmans is low fat, no carb... and I lost very well on it.. and stayed on as long as I could and when I just had to have "more" I went back to Atkins by adding simple green salads with lc dressings back.. for a while.. then to make the scale move I had to go back to Stillmans... so I too rotated.. I found Stillmans easy... well I love sirloin,, roast chicken both with out the fat, plain eggs.. with out the fat..
I did eat trimmed pork, tuna packed in water, cottage cheese. The amazing thing was that I lost my appetite to the point I was only hungry for 2 meals.. I would normally slide thru breakfast straight to lunch or have 2 warm boiled eggs for Breakfast and slide thru lunch (if I was busy) or eat lunch and skip dinner...

Steak is still my favorite food in the world... I get the butcher to cut it extra thick, thick and thick.... yummy..

I wonder...can you have crystal light on stillmans? How about diet coke or my...beloved...Diet Rockstar drinks? The rock stars are about 20 calories and 4 carbs...should probably keep those outta my diet while on stillmans eh?

Yes, it's very boring and very restrictive, but very effective. In the following narrative, it describes that it's not easily sustainable for the long term, and I agree with that. You can find out information if you Google Stillman Diet. I would personally not drink the diet Pepsi or Crystal Light, but I think they are allowable. Maybe this will help you figure out what you can or cannot have:

The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet
by Irwin Maxwell Stillman M.D., Samm Sinclair Baker

THE QUICK LOSS METHOD

This is a severe form of ketogenic diet. It is not easily sustainable for the longterm. It may be useful in breaking plateaus and in those too impatient to allow their bodies to take the fat off gradually at its own pace.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT MENTIONED IN THE FOLLOWING LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

Eat all you wish of the following foods to satisfy hunger. If you eat until you've satisfied your hunger but haven't stuffed yourself, and then feel hungry before the next meal, you can eat again, but only from the foods listed here. In fact, you're better off eating smaller meals 6 times a day than 3 bigger meals as is the general custom. But you limit yourself to this extensive list of high protein foods.

1. LEAN MEATS,with all possible fat trimmed off. Includes beef, lamb, veal. Eat it broiled, boiled, baked or smoked. No butter, margarine, oil or other fats or grease are to be used either in the cooking or the eating.

2. CHICKEN AND TURKEY with all skin removed. Broiled, boiled or roasted, with no butter, margarine, oil or other fats or greases. Young fowl is preferable but not necessary.

3. ALL LEAN FISH such as flounder, haddock, cod and perch; SEAFOOD: shrimps, scallops, lobsters, oysters, clams, crabs. No butter, margarine, oil or other fats or greases permitted in preparation or serving. You may have cocktail sauce, horseradish, ketchup-in moderation.

4. EGGS. Hard boiled preferably. Also soft or medium boiled eggs, poached, or any type of fried eggs made in non-fat, non-stick pans without butter, margarine, oil or other fats or greases.

5. COTTAGE CHEESE, FARMER CHEESE, POT CHEESE made with skim milk and no whole milk.

6. AT LEAST 8 GLASSES OF WATER PER DAY, absolutely essential (10 ounce glasses). As much as you want of coffee and tea without cream, milk or sugar. You may sweeten with non-caloric sweeteners to taste. Enjoy all the club soda, vichy and non-caloric carbonated beverages you wish, as often as desired.

The eight <10 ounce> glasses of water daily are in addition to whatever coffee, tea and non-caloric carbonated beverages you drink. This is an integral part of the specific internal process put into motion by the Quick Weight Loss Diet. Much more of your body fat is burned up than with most other diets. This leaves in its wake the waste products or ashes of burnt fat. [ketone bodies] They must all be washed out of your system by water which also serves to relieve any unpleasant dryness and taste in the mouth.

Note: ketone bodies are not ashes, they are the by-product of incomplete burning of fats. Ketones are to fat as charcoal is to wood. Ketones can be burned for fuel by your body. Most people have feedback loops to protect against ketosis-acidosis.

You may use common seasonings such as salt, pepper, garlic, cloves, thyme, other herbs and spices, cocktail sauce, tabasco sauce, horseradish, ketchup. Don't use any creamy or oily sauces or dressings. No mayonaise, no salad dressings, no oils, no fats.

It is desirable to take vitamins daily with the diet, such as a once-daily vitamin and mineral tablet.

NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED ON THIS DIET--NOTHING! IF IT'S NOT MENTIONED IN THE PRECEDING LIST, DON'T EAT OR DRINK IT.

If you disregard the instructions and eat regular carbohydrates or sugar or alcohol, you will stop burning up stored fat as efficiently. Even one indiscretion, one mouthful of ice cream, for example, will set you back a day or two.

You will lose the most weight on The Quick Loss Diet, most quickly, if you eat only to satisfy your humger pangs rather than to gratify a desire to eat just for the pleasure of eating.

This diet has practically no residue (fiber). Therefore it is likely that you may not have a bowel movement for a few days, although not necessarily so. In any case don't be alarmed by any such lack. [note: extra vitamin C or milk of magnesia is helpful in some cases]

Lori,

On Stillman's, your trying to keep carbs as low as possible..so, I'd say if your not sensitive to s/f soda it would be fine. Crystal Lite ( bottled kind) is also carb free...but the powdered kind does have a small amount of carbs. So if your talking 1-2 glasses a day and then lots of water..I'd say that is also fine. I'm still a big believer in water above all else...people will debate on other liquids, but I know for sure there is no debate on what is added or what can stall you with water..um..Nothing! (LOL)

P.S. Umm..rather sensitive here..but also keep an eye on how often your in the bathroom. Without the added fat or veggies..many find constipation a problem

Thanks Lisa!
Actually I only had half a diet soda yesterday ...lots of water...and I had some crystal light..but I used more just to flavor my water...I filled a glass up half way with water, then filled the rest up with my (already diluted) crystal light.

And guess what? I lost 5lbs in one day! lol woohoo for water weight!
According to fit day I had about 549 calories.
That with my 55 mins of cardio at the gym, where I burned near 550 calories...I know some of those 5lbs has to be fat and not just water!
I am excited! But I gotta tell ya...I am already getting sick of the hard boiled eggs..lol.

Upping my intake today...calories were SOO low yesterday!
Dinner was ...well I tried to make meatballs with ground turkey, eggs and spices..but they turned out more like mini patties. I had 4 of those with a little ketchup..ketchup was like heaven..glad I can have a little on this woe.

Will probably have a little more turkey or some cottage cheese before bed.

In stillmans they list some things you can use to season your food..ketchup, horseradish, etc....do you think you can use Soy Sauce if you drink extra water to flush away the sodium?
