question re: Stillman / m/e fast...

I finally got thru my first day without screwing up. I planned on doing basically eggs, shrimp and chicken for three days and then ease into induction. Last night, drank wine and had ziti and pizza...today, I have no appetite. But I forced myself to eat 2 scrambled eggs before going to the gym. Did 35 min on the crosstrainer. Trying to get the water in, but even that is difficult. Should I force myself to eat something this evening? I have a feeling tomorrow I'm going to have a rough time eating also. If all I eat is one small meal during the day, am I still technically doing Stillman's or M/E fast?I desperately want to see results in three days and don't want to to screw this up! Or is my body going to go into starvation mode and hang on the fat? Help! I hear so many conflicting ideas on this.
Thanks!

im definately lurking here ... hope you get some good input...me personally try not to eat if im not hungry... try that is... breaking the habit of just eating for comfort sakes has been hard... i just learned that i dont need to eat 2 pieces of chicken if im satisfied with just one... i dont need to be full/overfull...

Is this a typical behavior of yours? Mess up and go directly into a starvation diet?

Your blood sugars are most likely gonna be so out of whack. Before you know it, you'll be running to the nearest carb fest pantry once your feeling of guilt and nausea from your cheat catches up with you.

You need to decide if you're gonna stick with a plan...then do it.

You're only doing more harm to your body by doing what you're doing.

If Atkins isn't for you, then find one that's HEALTHY you can stick to. There is a vast array of plans out there that will cater to your likes. The M/E and stillmans are desperate means to get things going, but something you can't do for the rest of your life=constant yo yo rollercoaster.

I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. It sounds like it's a behavioral thing that needs exploring further-and doing something about it once and for all!

I guess you're trying to break the carb cravings, right? And jump start your weight loss? I have not tried the Stillman's or the M/E and I don't know much about the starvation mode thing (from what I've been reading here, opinions are divided on whether it even exists or not), but you should definitely eat at least small amounts (I try not to go more than 5 to 6 hours without having something) and try to keep your fluids going. That much I do know.

Just curious, how much weight are trying to lose? Do you exercise regularly?

Heather150...yes, it is something I know I need to keep with. I am trying to forever change my bad habits...I've done Atkins 3 times before, but only for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, and lost all I needed. I obviously didn't have much to lose then. And it's not that I do now either. I never weigh myself, just go by how I look...but I'd be happy with 20 pounds..for now...and then continue...maybe 40 in all? My plan is to only do this stillmans for three days, then begin Induction...continue with that for a while and then I think do more of a South Beach way of eating. You are absolutely right about what you said.

Midnight Blue...
as just stated, 20-40 would like to lose...again because I never weigh, I'm assuming...I don't have a good concept of what 20 pounds is, just go by how I look and what size I get into. Yes, I generally do excersize quite regulary...5 times a week at the gym. Although haven't been lately, but did go today.

I did manage just to eat a little grilled shrimp because I was a tad hungry. So I'm glad about that. I've asked this before, but I'm paranoid...sprayed butter flavor pam on the gril and shrimp, otherwise it would stick. That's o.k. and won't skrew this up? The can says 1 second spray has less that a gram of fat,,,but I did quite a few sprays.
Thanks.

Ok..well Stillman's or M/E can help after a cheat. It will get your appitite down faster then induction...and will help with cravings. HOWEVER, if you don't take the time to figure out why you keep setting yourself -up..then binging and fasting will then become your woe..which I'm sure is not your intention. Cheating has signs, signals and reasons..it's not an out of body experience! (LOL) so take the time to sit down each day and right down what your eating..how you feel and what's going on in your life. If you take 10 minutes out of your day to do this each night...you should be able to start to see a pattern with your cheats. Either situational, emotional, or stuff your eating before.

Untill you change the pattern, the results will be the same

As for should you eat or not..you'll get a bazillion takes on this..so I'll just add mine No, you don't have to eat 3 full meals a day if not hungry..but that is not to say your body doesn't need fuel. Here's the example I always use when asked about eating and no hunger:

If you have a car ( your body) and the gas gauge is broke ( ketosis aka no appitite) and you knew you had to go on a trip ( your daily activity) would you A. Fill-up the tank..then run your car untill you ran out of gas. OR B. put in half a tank, and then add small amounts of fuel to ensure you could make the trip safely.

Running your car untill it's out of gas is not just hard on the car..but by the time you realize your "out of gas" think about what a hastle it is to go walk and get some

As said before, maybe its OK to jumpstart things with one or the other but after that stop the vicious cycle. I've been there and done that. It did help to keep my weight down some but in the long run, it didn't really help. It was only after I came clean and stayed clean that things really started to change again.

Shanes Grlll...
Today so far so good. Last night I did end up eating some grilled shrimp in the evening because I did get a tad hungry. Had grilled shrimp for breakfast around 8am and then was hungry so had the rest of the grilled shrimp at 11:45 am. 4:00 now and I am hungry so am going to grill one or two chicken cutlets and then go to the gym. I've been pretty good water-wise. I guess I'm expecting too much...day two and I don't really feel different, maybe a bit less bloated. If I'm hungry this evening I'll probably do more shrimp. Tomorrow I'll do two eggs, chicken and probably shrimp. I was hoping someone could answer the butter flavored PAM question...I used it liberally so the shrimp wouldn't stick. In fact when eating the shrimp today in the tupperware bowl after nooking it, it almost had a little butter juice in it from the PAM. Felt like I was eating shrimp soaked in butter. IS THIS O.K. for Stillman's????
