Low carb chili suitable for Stillman's
Hi there, I'm currently doing a few days of Stillman's (minus the cottage cheese). In the Stillman's books I have, it says you can use beef bouilloine/broth so long as it's low carb/low fat. Would it be possible to make some kind of chili using lean ground beef, chili powder seasonings and beef broth? Does this sound nasty? I would love to throw in a tiny amount of chopped whole canned tomato (but I won't) maybe a sprinkle of parmesan cheese (which would probably be pushing it). What do you guy's think. I got the diet book and the Stillman's cookbook off of Ebay but haven't made any recipes with it yet. Thanks in advance!

Meat and egg may be exactly that, but Stillman's allow more so I guess I should clarify then it's Stillman's I'm doing minus the cottage cheese he allowed for.
Thanks for the reply anyway. |

The beef broth is quite high in sodium so might not be a good choice. Regular taco seasonings and tomatos are quite high in carbs. I have never done stillmans so really wouldnt be able to say if its ok in that diet. Sorry.

Thank you for your response anyway, I hadn't thought of the broth being high in sodium. The seasonings I was thinking of was some chili, garlic and onion powder. I'll do a google search and see if I come up with something.

Here's a site with some carb counts most of them have 3 carbs per 2 tbsp. Also 1 cup chopped tomato has 8 carbs. Hope this helps

IMHO I would think it would be fine. I think Stillmans allows for beef broth right?? So then add beef and some seasonings- especially those that dont have sugar in them and you should be fine. But again... dont shoot me. This is just my opinion....

Your answer ... and the answer to anyone doing low carb ... is what results do you want? The more carbs, the more calories ... the slower (or non-existent) the loss.
It's not whether we can have cottage cheese or taco seasoning or Diet Mt. Dew. It really and truly isn't. |

okay i actually made this last night and i am following stillmans for the next month. but i bought a package of homamde chili seasonings, whitman fowler at Wal Mart, and used a pound of lean ground turkey instead of beef. its almost fat free. i left out the mesa flour and only used the seasoning(salt, chili powder, oregano, cumin, paprika, garlic/onion) i didnt use anny tomatoe paste or anything else and it came out great. chile taste without the chili carbs or chili fat. i seperated it into seven 4oz. gladware containers for portion control. 4oz. of ground trukey is only 120 calories |
