keep it up there if you can....stillmans worked great for me, I lost a lot of weight pretty quick but I worry that it might have messed up my metabolism.

kss- are you having problems w/ your weight now? do you stall by eating more of an atkins type menu? curious to know how my body will react when i re add certain foods to it (veggies, being the main, and higher fat meat cuts) i started stillmans thursday and have already lost 5 lbs

Sugardoll, I wanted to mention that if you lost a lot of "water weight" at the beginning, it means you were over on carbs before. Your glycogen had been replenished in your liver. On Stillman's (nearly devoid of carbs), you'll get that "whoosh" on Day 2 or 3.
The thing to remember when you go off Stillman's is to watch your carbs. If you return to what you used to eat, you'll return to what you used to weigh. There isn't anything magical about Stillman's. It works because the carbs are extremely low (unless you get into that whole FF cheese dessert situation ... sigh.) ![]() |

kimmer- thanks for the response.. i dont think my carbs were too high to begin with.. hardly ever went over 30 and ive been doing this since august.. but i did net carb my veggies and fruit, after i finish stillmans i will re add these items but count them without netting them. perhaps this will help
either way cant complain about 50 lb loss since august![]() |

I did Stillman when I reached my first stall in my weight loss journey. Calories were around 600/day. I'm a firm believer in Stillman when it comes to breaking a stall or for having some rapid weight loss. Gradually adding back carbs and calories will result in no regain of the weight lost on Stillman.

Kimmer and granny...help me out please! I went from stillmans back to atkins and it caused me to stall, but not gain. I still need to lose 30 more pounds. I did go off diet over christmas for 4 days and put 10 pounds back on. Not happy about it but I accept it and am back on the wagon again. I was hoping to be able to go back to atkins and not stillmans and stick to around 1200-1400 calories and still lose. Yesterday was my first day back on and I probably had about 1900 calories. (I figure I might end up with higher calories just until I get back into ketosis) I actually was up 2 pounds today. Is it possible that my metabolism is screwy because I went off plan for 4 days after being on stillmans for a few months? Do you think I will be able to lose by being on atkins or should I go back to stillmans and lose the rest and then SLOWLY wean myself off stillmans and onto atkins maintenance? and hopefully maintain.
Thanks

Isn't Granny so very smart!
![]() KSS, it depends on how you do Atkins. What do you eat to get to 1400-1600? If it's pure protein and fat, you're OK, but if you added 'carby' stuff you gain. Are you adding any 'net' carbs (like the bars) that should be counted at full carbs (the sugar alcohols ARE metabolized eventually throughout the day). When you left Stillman's, what did you add back besides veggies? Take a hard look because that's where the gain came from ... especially if any 'treats' were involved. Gaining 4 pounds means water which means you were over on carbs. Ditto for 2 pounds overnight ... unless it's food "weight" that hasn't been processed. Low carb is very unforgiving when it comes to 'cheats'. We can rationalize all we want, but the body always knows ... and the scale shows. Best bet if you go back to Stillman's for a few days is to copy Granny's example ... add veggies, some fat (calories) and see where you are. Remember, each 'cheat' costs you 4-7 days of weight loss because of glycogen replenishment in the liver and interruption of 'real' ketosis. ![]() |

Hey kids..
Just want to add my stillman's experience. I have done it a total of 4 times..first 2 times it worked great..third time I had no loss (think my body was going trhough something anyway..but think it was a good detoxer regardles of no loss..made Atkins clean eating after that seem a breeze LOL) But..this was my last experience. I was 10 from goal..eating no products..almost no cheese and small portions..but wasn't losing. I did stillman's clean for 4 days with no loss..and then took one of Kimmers great suggestions and switched to Stillkins (adding in 1-2 small salads a day) boom..by day 7, I had lost 6 lbs! went back slowly 9over about a week) to atkins..only adding in veggies and small amounts of fat. I not only kept the 6 lbs off..but lost the last 4 in about 3 weeks. It can work. I did have a very hard time keeping my calories as low as many..even while in deep ketosis..(kimmer may argue that I was not in deep ketosis..but having almost no carbs and about 700 calories a day..I was still very hungry most of the time, not to mention felt week and tired) but..adding in 1 or 2 at most small salads a day..and having my calories around 900-1100 is where I ended up. Rememeber..even when on Stillman's..were all diffrent..so just wanted to add in my stillman's experience ![]()

I definitly know where the 10 pound gain came from... in the 4 days I was NOT low carbing I ate way too much junk. Today is day 2 back on the wagon. I think I am going to go back to stillmans tomorrow, stay there until I am at goal and then slowly transition back to atkins. I set some new goals... lowered my goal weight and set my new goal date as my birthday....lets see what happens. TOM is due in one week so I would like to drop as much weight as possible before he comes and screws me all up!!!
