stillman's vs Atkins
My current way of eating is Dr A's but have been hearing things on this board re: Stillman's.....What is Stillman's ? how does it differ from Atkins? Any one switch from either and your preference please. Thanks

Stillman is a crash diet. Atkins is a way of life. 'nuff said.

Sorry to offend, but stillmans is not really a crash diet, used in conjunction with atkins it can be a very helpful tool to get through plateaus...granted it is not something you can do forever it is a very useful tool. You may want to look through some threads for it I know there is a website somewhere. Mainly on stillmans you only eat lean meat, skim milk cottage cheese, and eggs. No butter, added fats, etc. and meat I mean poultry, fish, etc

Stillman's is a low carb, low fat, very rapid weight loss program. The author is Irwin Sinclair, M.D., who designed the program for his personal obesity during medical school. His physician told him to get the body fat off ASAP, even if he had to chop it off with a cleaver.
When you've lost the majority of weight with Stillman's, then you begin adding veggies, some dairy, later fruit (similar to the stages of Atkins). Stillman's isn't for everyone. It's very strict, very limited, and for food lovers, probably a trip to hell (hi Port! ).For people wishing to experience "real" ketosis, 2 days on Stillman's will do the trick -- assuming you do original Stillman's and not the BB version.
