Hello!
New here and to South Beach. Recommended by my doctor after my insulin came back at 80.9 and C-Peptide at 6.9. I started monday and my gosh I picked a hard week to start. We went camping at Holiday World for a couple days and it was difficult to eat. I cooked for me, but would have been so much easier to eat a sandwich with the family. Luckily I love my veggies, but I don't like being told I have to eat them lol. I guess that's my inner 5 year old coming out. |

Good Morning Everyone! I really want to start posting and keeping up with all of you. So much has happened that has kept me away. I still want to loose 3 more lbs.
Wiz you are amazing and your recipes are the Best! I am acutally making one that you posted in Jan, Tracy's Italian Beef Stew. I am making it tomorrow before work. I cant wait. I learn so much from all of you. Thank you and I too tend do agree about not eating grains. I had just stopped not because I am going back to Phase I but I think I will loose more or lets say not gain anymore. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday. |

Hi and welcome to the those just starting out. I don't eat grains either lharris. After what I've read about starches and sugars, I keep a low profile and just have a sweet potato once in a while.
Our zucchini is getting more than we can eat again so will bring out the spiral slicer and make some zucchini pasta. I love the angel hair size and can make up a variety of meals using it that way. Well the overcast sky is finally showing blue outside so think we will be getting out and enjoying some if it. I know we will be shopping for a wall clock for our bathroom and also for some natural bug repellent for our up coming camping trip. Time to get busy. See you later.

Good morning!!
I just finished up a 5-mile run and a very SB friendly breakfast. It's a good start to my week. I am happy to report I met my mini goal of staying within a ~ 1/2 lb of my Friday morning weight. And yes, I did have the duck breast on Friday night and it was absolutely delicious!! So what's everybody up to this week?? I am thrilled to be staying home. And in fact, I have no business travel scheduled for the next 2 weeks. woo hoo!! So much easier to watch what I eat while at home....Hey lharris, let me know how the stew worked out for you! Just remember -no recipe is ever cast in stone. If you don't like (or don't have) an ingredient, just substitute something else. And welcome to MichaelsWife!! Busy, busy work day ahead of me, so I've got to run!!

Plan on making good South Beach choices in my eating today. Breakfast started out with low fat greek yogurt and blueberries. That really hit the spot. Now after drinking my coffee and catching up on all the posts we off for a walk with the fur kids. Have a great day by making it the best you can be. Later

HI SB Friends
Just wanted to pop in again and ask for prayers for my DH he is having surgery today. I have been sleeping at the hospital for the last 2 nights . and he is in extreme pain. He has many many gall stones, pancreatitis, and a hernea. So they are fixing it all today.Hopefully and prayerfully laproscopically. But Dr thought perhaps with all the infection he may have to do it by incision. So I am praying it will not come to that.![]() Also I my first mini goal was 250 I made that today and under one lb. I am so happy I have not been aat this weight for over 8-10 years. It is still alot but I am on my way down. And I know in my heart this time I will make it!I have just been doing this since April 24th 2012 too!!!!

Hi Berta,

Thanks Sharon and Michelle
![]() DH mad eit through his surgery but thet wo hour procedure ended up being six hours.Boy was I getting concerned! They took him in at five and Dr didn't come in to talk to me until just a little before ten! He had gangrene in his gallbladder Can you imagine?Poor guy.He will be in there for four or five more days but at least I know he will be okay. ![]() ![]() Thnaks Michelle I am so very happy about this plan I love it. I know alot of people say things about it but if they haven't tried it they shouldn't say anything. It is a good plan and it works!!!!! You see they usually think the 500 calories a day is the plan... not so. It is 500 a day for the first 20 -40 days whichever you choose. But then it goes to PH3 with no starches or sugars. Then PH4 which you add back in strcehs and sugar a little at a time for four weeks the first round the eight the second tound then 16 weeks the tird and each round it gets longer and longer. BUT then you go back toPH2 whichis the phase you loose on. the other two phases helos set your weight. You are to maintain your last dose weight. I have done really good on maintaing this time in fact I am six lbs under my last dose weight! And I go back to PH2 tomorrow for about 20 days. It is so easy to stick with especially since I switched to the real HCG RX instead of hemopathic. You girls a rocking here too. KUTGW ![]() Here is s typical PH2 meal 3.5 oz of Chicken or lean beef, shrimp, or one egg with 3 whites, or 3.5 oz lf cottage cheese. then 1 tomatoe or cabbage or celery or cucumber or spinach. two fruit a day either of orange, strawberries or apple. Those are the only choices for entire 20-40 days. Last edited by Berta48; 07-24-2012 at 10:35 AM.. |

Berta it sounds like your Dh is a fighter and will sure keep positive healing thoughts going his way.
You're plan sounds very restrictive. I can see where it evolves in a number of phases to set your weight loss. Good luck to you and keep up the great work. |

I am doing good. The old belly is showing some shrinkage I must be doing something right. BUT IT IS GOING SO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.![]() |

TheBelly, I purchased a spiral slicer by Joyce Chen. It's been a great kitchen tool and makes great angel hair sized zucchini. I'm making it almost daily the way our crop is producing. I found it on Amazon if you want to check it out.
Cindy, you can have hummus in all phases. It's a legume and tahini is sesame seed. Just kept it at a couple of tablespoons per serving like you would any nut butter or peanut butter. |

TheBelly I have tried it different ways. Dh and I like to just warm it with the sauce. We have put it in the microwave for a min. first but I try not to actually cook it. It is more like pasta then. We both are really enjoying the texture and it's actually tasteless just like the wheat stuff. There is a video on youtube to show how it's done. Just type in zucchini pasta in youtube to bring up a video. I don't know how to put in a link on here, shrug.

They made me come home last night.![]() ![]() They put him on a sleep apnea machine it seeemed to help his breathing.I am on my way back now. So please if you pray.... pray because prayer truly does change things.(if it's Gods will to be done) ![]() |

You take care. Wiz, I love turkey meatloaf as I make it regularly but would love your recipe. Where would I start looking for it? I love love love running but I can only run 4 miles. I have days were I too could run for days but unfortunately I have to be at work at 8am so I run at 5am. Hope everyone has a great day! |

You can use the Search Forum feature at the top of the South Beach Diet forum. But in any case, to make life easier, here it is: Tracy's Turkey Meatloaf Provencale All quantities are approximate - I rarely measure 2 lbs lbs ground turkey 1 onion, chopped and sauteed 1 box frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained 4 oz grated mozz, plus another 2 oz reserved 1/2 cup parm cheese ~8 sun-dried tomatoes, chopped finely 1 egg beaten 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teas dried thyme salt and pepper Mix all together, form a loaf and bake at 375 for 40 minutes. Enjoy!! (P.S. Tracy is my first name, Wiz is a family nickname...) |

![]() Yesterday's food: String cheese and cherries Barbecued tofu and one teeny-tiny boiled red potato. Meant to have salad, but forgot to eat it, so it's still in the fridge at work. Cottage cheese and a huge tomato. Better than nothing? |
