Feedback/advice please
I've been eating low-carb/high-protein for about 10 days. No weight loss yet. I know I'm not overeating b/c I'm hungry a lot! I have been drinking a bit of wine, but other than one or two cherries, and an occasional (low-carb) yogurt, I feel like I've been on plan - and I've been exercising!
I've been eating eggs with LF mayo, cooking with olive oil, eating nuts every day, drinking lots of water and SF lemonade . . . just wondering if I'm missing something or if weight loss can be slow. I was expecting better results ![]() I've been enjoying this board and learning a lot! Thanks in advance. |

Since you are on the South Beach forum, I am assuming you are following SB, right? Could you post a few days of menus so we can see what you are actually eating, including amounts? Also we need stats. Then we can help. BTW, "snacks" are a requirement on the plan.

As Rose said, please post some menus. I don't see any mention of vegetables in your post. Veggies are a huge part of the South Beach Diet - every meal should include them!!

I am intrigued by this concept that petite people have to limit their calories while on SB. I'm barely 5'1" and it takes me almost to the end of Phase 1 before I see any effects (which becomes incredibly disheartening toward the end of week 1!). Is there anywhere that I can read up on this for more guidelines, or is it just something that you fellow petite people have learned through trial and error?

said calories count. If you eat past what your body can handle, you're gonna gain; if you eat exactly what you can handle, you're gonna stabilize; if you eat less than you need to be stable, you're gonna lose. Tiny people lose slower than bigger people. If you try to cut calories back to far, you will just stop losing at all. It's a challenge. There are sites where you can calculate your general BMR and go from there. My BMR is so low that I have to make every bite count and add a good amount of activity in to keep from gaining.

sample menus
Here are a few days of menus:
B: egg with spinach and canadian bacon L: kale salad (w/dressing), broccoli and steak S: nuts D: bratwurst, big green salad B: broccoli cheddar quiche L: taco salad w/out the taco with lots of veggies & 1/3c bl beans S: nuts D: tuna salad with celery B: egg with spinach L: pork tenderloin and broccoli S: nonfat vanilla yogurt & nuts D: taco salad (as above) I have been drinking wine most nights and I think that might be the problem. No more wine until I finish week 2 of Phase 1. |

Be sure you keep nuts to an allowable serving of 1 oz. They are easy to overdo. Unless that brat is turkey, it's not strictly legal. Yogurt on phase one is to be plain unsweetened, so wait until phase 2 for flavored ones. Unless you are overeating portions or using lots of dressing, etc. your menu looks fairly good. You are right; the wine is a problem. If you are not comfortable giving stats, let me say that if you have a lot to lose, weight should come off faster in the beginning and if you have just a little to lose, it will be slower. |
