MUST DROP 15 LBS by JUNE 30
Hello All - I am new to LCF. I started [seriously] dieting 3/1/12. I started off just watching my food intake and exercising 2-3 times per week. When that didn't work, I started Atkins on 3/27 and stayed on the induction phase for an entire 5 weeks (NO CHEATS) and experienced only a 5-lb weight loss. Good but not great.
This week I have decided to switch over to South Beach, as I had success with this diet 9 years ago. My family picnic is 6/30th and my short-term goal is to lose 20-lbs by that time. I've dropped 5 but still have 15 to go.
I've upped my exercise (starting this week) to 5 days/week of no less than 30 mins. I seem to be stuck on 201 and I'm hoping this will help.
I really want to look good in the family photos

back to the beach. Why do you think Atkins didn't work for you? Do you have some medical issues that need to be addressed?
I hate to see people have a goal of x pounds by y date. What happens if you don't hit that number? What I would rather see is for you to follow the plan by the book and see where it takes you. SB is an extremely healthy way of life and I like to look at it as eating for health, not just weight loss. Come over and join us on the May thread.

Postergurl, Rose is so right with everything she said. I totally agree. If I am not mistaken as it was a long time ago, when I first started SB I did read about Atkins and I was amazed how bacon and all fatty meats seemed to be okay and also unlimited. To me Atkins was not healthy at all even if one did loose. You need to take it one day at a time and do Phase 1 by the book for 2 weeks and keep that exercising going but as far as your deadline, well that just adds more pressure.
Hang in there and as Rose said, join the May thread and you will have support from many South Beachers.
