Hi all.
Just shopped tonight to get started on Phase 1 (supercharged) tomorrow. Spent close to $200 stocking up so that should be a great motivator! I am a bit scared as I have mostly been vlc since May so I am sure it will be shock to my system.

Since you have been eating VLC for some time, don't be surprised if you pick up a little water weight. Nothing to be concerned about; just follow the program as written and you will be fine. I hope this plan suits you better.

Mary- Thanks for noticing. I'm pretty excited. I'm also so excited to be out of phase one.

Here is my P2 menu for today.

B-2 eggs, cup of milk, lots of coffee
L-ground beef w/ black beans, picante, sour cream and cheese
S-blueberry smoothie (yogurt, milk, egg yoke, blueberries)
D-Large romain salad w/ homemade dressing, gorgonzola, pecans and 5 dried cherries. Small bowl of ground beef w/ black beans, salsa, sour cream and cheese

Where are the veggies you say? Good question. I'll have to work on that tomorrow!

All I can say is thank goodness for only a 2 week p1. I know you can lose in P2 and I was ready to move!

Are creamed soups south beach friendly in any phase? Like cream of mushroom, cream of chicken. I used to cook with them alot. The label doesn't look perfect; but maybe not so bad either.
Any input?
Thanks

Gosh this is hard I have to really sit down and write out some menus I guess. With VLC I just cooked meat and eggs! Oh well it will take time to settle into this.

No, they're not. There are lots of SB friendly recipes to make whatever you want with legal ingredients. Check Kayln's Kitchen (sp?)

Look in your book for menu ideas. You don't have to follow the exact menus; just use them as a guide for your own eating. Maybe the easiest way to start is a meat, a veggie and a salad. Then get more creative.

I've been choking that stuff down since January. It has to be very cold and I can not smell it before or as I chug it.

You don't HAVE to drink V-8 to be successful. It's just a quick, easy way to get in a serving of vegetable nutrients and most people are accustomed to oj in the morning, so it fits in. You could have a veggie omelette or quiche cups or a handful of grape tomatoes or some cut up raw veggies or vegetable soup or some of last night's broccoli or....... Don't force yourself to eat what you don't like.

HI, Beachers! Looks like we are chugging along! Funny how some are having a hard time getting vegetables in, I am getting tired of protein and just want mainly vegetables! I had a half a burger at lunch and didn't like it at all. Never thought that could happen!

B - egg, Uncle Sam's cereal w/berries and almonds
L - salad, 1/2 burger
D - roasted beet salad w/walnuts, vegetable souffle, chard, plum
S - few SB mix nuts

Serena,
That roasted beet salad sounds good!

I'm not having any trouble with the food, my problem is EXERCISE...or lack there of! I get home from work around 1:30, my kids get home at 3:40, I have the time, I just don't have the motivation...I find things to do around the house instead of just getting home, changing and going outside for a run. I need to figure out a plan.

today's menu:
coffee
b: 1 scrambled egg with canadian bacon, roasted asparagus and tomato; v8
l: turkey wrapped in lettuce with roasted peppers and laughing cow cheese
d:???

Have a good day!
Mary

I agree! The food choices are awesome. I am only on phase 1 day 2 but I already feel more energetic and have more energy for my exercise. I went from vlc <20 carbs a day so this is a big change. I expected a water gain but actually I have gone down .6 pounds already probably more as I have been running to the bathroom all day. I am up to about 35 carbs which is still a bit low so gradually I will be adding in more veggies.

So this is a perfect example of how not to eat...

B bowl of ricotta
S V8
L 2 egg omelet w/ Gorgonzola
S 2 pickles
D a bowl of broccoli

Seriously I need to beat myself! There are so many good things to eat and I'm being so lazy!!!

Texoma, at least you didn't go off and eat a bunch of unhealthy stuff! A bowl of broccoli--in my book, you deserve a medal for that!

Lanie, I love black eyed peas--haven't had any for a long time. So glad you are loving being on the Beach! Have fun at your dance class!

Jeaniem--I was on Atkins before SB, and although it was successful as far as weight loss, I got so tired of eating all that protein! And I ended up gaining it all back anyway. I like having a lot more food choices that are much healthier, too. Glad you are enjoying it!

Buckhuntress, your menu looks so good today!

Mary, I haven't felt like exercising lately either--what are we gonna do? Maybe it is the time of year?

Had a great eating day today, got lots of veggies and fiber in.

B - egg, lowfat, sf bran muffin
L - chicken chili
D - salad w/shiitaki mushrooms, onions, cannelini beans, 1/2 c. lentil soup

Hi Beachers!!

I'm back from yet another week of business travel. Ugh. My next trip is on Oct. 9th when I leave for the UK and Germany for 8 days (and then I am home for 2 days and go to Miami for a week. ) It is SO hard to stay disciplined with no set routine. The only thing that stays consistent is my running. I do that no matter what state, city or country I am in!!

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!

Hi all,

Sorry I don't check in very often but I wanted to make sure you all knew about the Kraft coupon that's out right now. You get five dollars off any five Kraft cheese purchases. You can get some Kraft items for less than a dollar each using this coupon. It's good for cream cheese and sour cream too.

Huddle to Fight Hunger | You?re Inches Away From Fighting Hunger.

The coupon will print twice and it's for a good cause too.

Jim

Hi everyone.
Just had a quick question about phase 1 and the suggested/allowable foods. Are we expected to eat the allowed amounts of each food group listed. I am transitioning from very low carb and have added in yogurt and more veggies but have not had nuts or much in the way of dairy.

No, just make your menus from the food lists, using the menu plans as a guide. Most important is to be sure to get enough quality protein and enough vegetables. You don't have to have any particular foods.

Thanks Rose. Down 1.2 lbs. already and only at Day 3! I am amazed as I have been up to 35-40 carbs for the last two days. I expected a gain as I was very low carb before like around 10-15 most days.
