*sigh*

Too many changes, too many odd eating situations (like being in for the time change last night and having management bring us pizza - which they've *never* done before), too much fatigue from crazy schedules...

I'm not feeling terribly hopeful about weighing in tonight when I get up for the day.

Not going to make me throw in the towel or anything - I brought healthy food with me and I'm staying away from the rotisserie of death (aka the vending machines). And I haven't gone *horribly* overboard or anything - a couple of pieces of pizza last night, a chipotle chicken burrito bowl that probably had too much sour cream and cheese too close to when I layed down for the day in the afternoon... But still.

Need to get back in the zone.

Cindy, love the new photo! Rose, hope you are feeling better!

I visited with my parents & brother Friday night, and saw something I never thought I would see at Cracker Barrel - a low carb menu! Very surprising!

Saturday was a tough day for me. I visited my 95-year-old friend who has a malignant tumor on her neck the size of a golf ball. She is choosing not to have treatment, so it's just going to keep growing. She is already having trouble swallowing and having pain at night. Hospice has visited and will help her when she is ready. I told her to take the meds - she doesn't need to suffer! Her mind is sharper than mine, so she knows she is dying. She lives 4 hours away from me, so I probably won't be seeing her again. I ate my way home. It wasn't as bad as it could have been but it was all comfort food. Just too much emotion last week with the funeral on Wed. and seeing her Saturday. I got back on track Sunday, and surprisingly the scale didn't go way up. I'm ready for a good week!

Hello all!

Well, the Halloween candy got the better of me but the remaining pieces are now out of the house! And between our neighbor's Halloween party on Saturday night and the tailgate yesterday (Go Eagles!!) ...it was not a great weekend of eating.

So Euphrates, I can feel your pain.

However, I am back on track today. Egg beater omelet for breakfast, a batch of veggie cups (spinach and roasted red pepper, yum) for snacks, and pork tenderloin and zucchini for dinner. (Need to figure out a lunch somewhere in there.)

Jo, so sorry to hear about your friend. Really tough situation.

Cindy, love the new avi! I need to change mine too.

Rose, hope you are feeling better. I still the sniffles and a cough, and I first got sick 2 weeks ago!

Have a great week everyone!! I hope to be really OP.

Morning peeps.... A new week and better choices ahead. Funny thing is I am not a "candy" person, but you sure couldn't tell that by my weekend. There's a big bowl of the stuff sitting on the table. I will not have another piece "promise"! We don't celebrate Hallows Eve so I always buy my kids a bag of candy to have. Then our neighbor came for dinner Saturday and brought them more candy, then I took them to the Church Harvest Festival where they each got another bag of candy. This stuff will last forever around here.

Cindy - beautiful pic

Rose - Glad your gonna live I hate being sick.

Euph - We owned a vending business for 8 yeas and I can tell you some stories that would make you think twice on getting food from the machine

Jo - I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I'm afraid at that age I would probably not have treatment either.

stregaluna - This will be a good week!

Okay so today I will eat healthy and weigh in. I have stayed off the scales for a couple of weeks and now I know there is damage, I can feel it. I am up 5lbs from my low. Hopefully I will lose most of it this week. Regardless I am eating healthy! It's also suppose to be 70 all week so I am thinking there is no reason I can't walk my daughter to the bus stop, 1 mile each way.

B - coffee, l/o tri tip, zucchini

L - salad with chicken breast

D - Pork Roast, Cauliflower, black beans

hi beachers!

I'm hopefully getting myself back on track after several weeks of emotional eating.

OBX - I feel your pain with the emotional eating. My BIL has esophogeal cancer and hospice is visiting him daily. He was only diagnosed in August. Very hard.

reno - that's quite a trip to the bus stop!!

Today is DD birthday, she turns 10. She has been sick since Friday, still not feeling good today. Poor thing. I made her favorite dinner tho, lasagne hamburger helper! I will be having parm. tilapia, beans, and a veggie.

Happy South Beaching!

Hi gang!

A P1 day for me - I find that if I rotate P1 and 2 for a couple days - it shakes things up for me after a day or two of not totally keeping track!

Thanks for the comps on the avi!

Oh Jo - so sorry to hear about your friend - big hugs to you, my friend!

To your DD Tina! Hope she is better soon!

Reno - good idea to take advantage of the nice weather and get in some exercise!!!

Hope WE ALL have a great week!
Hugs to ALL of us!

Hello all.

Beautiful picture.

I dealt with Halloween the easy way. I took off out of town and camped for the weekend. I was with a group of guys and they all loved the mini black bean brownie low fat cheesecakes I made. They also all altered their cooking so I could eat what they made. Great group of guys.

My surgery this morning went well. The nerve block is still in effect so no pain yet. When I finally got my appetite back I was ravenous but managed to stay on plan. Its easy to do when it takes this much effort to get to the kitchen.

Sorry about your DD. That stuff is evil. I had pneumonia. I went to a seminar and felt fine, then the next morning I was not feeling well, and by evening, I was in real trouble. I'm back to work this week. I think I lost a pound, maybe.

Happy to hear all went well for you. Take care of yourself. No one can get to our house, so we don't buy candy. Good idea to just take off.

Yeah - we're in an apartment complex with locked outter doors, so we'd only get kids who live in our section of the building if they trick-or-treated here (I think most of them go down the street from us instead). Of course, my mate has chocolate around all the time and I haven't touched it yet (even made his famous "cookie crack" yesterday - where he takes a cookie mix and then adds things like dark chocolate M&M's to it). Honestly I'm not that compelled to eat sweet stuff - as long as we've lived together I generally have only gotten one or maybe two pieces whenever he's made cookie crack, and that's been enough. No, it's pasta and potatoes that are my nemesis.

I was right - up 1lb this week. But it could have been a LOT worse. So I think my best bet is to go back to P1 this week and try to get things back under control. No weird schedules or travel to throw me off this week.

Rose - glad you're feeling better!

Valerie, good luck recovering from your surgery!

We live in the boonies, so no kids and we don't have to buy any candy.

Trying to get back on my gym schedule this week. Have had lots going on and been missing several nights a week. Last night I did an hour of cardio and an hour of body sculpting and it felt good!

Good morning!

Although it was chilly here this morning (34 degrees!), it was perfect running weather. Sunny and no wind for my 5-mile run.

Hmmm...I thought I was on track yesterday, but the scale barely moved. Maybe I was so bad over the weekend that my body is still enjoying the fruits of all my excesses! Well, I have another clean day of eating planned, so we shall see.

Work is a little crazy today, so this is just a quick check-in. BBL...oh, and Go Phillies!!! It doesn't look good, but you never know

Morning.

I am down one of those pesky pounds this morning so that is a good start. I am getting tired of salad, yesterday I made my salad with chicken and ended up picking all the chicken out and eating that. I think I am going to make some veggie soup to have for lunches. Grocery shopping is Thursday so pickens are slim at the moment. I still have not had breakfast, I need to go eat.

B - ? Coffee

L - soup if I can manage to make some

D - turkey brats, onion,mustard and ?

Hi, I am so grateful for this site and all of you. I just started South Beach and needed some guidance and support. I have come to this site several times a day for the last few days. Thanks for being there and for all the encouragement. It helps to hear from others who are struggling and also many who are able to turn it around and be successful.

I took another day off today. DH wasn't feeling well all night and I got no sleep, so I stayed home, piddled around with some housework, took a nap, and made chili for supper. I cooked.

Tina,
You are just starting also. I see that you wrote "Day 2 of phase I". Have you done South Beach before? I am hoping for some good results especially in this two week induction phase, which is pretty hard. I have to admit, I no longer crave sweets/carbs (Day 4 for me) but I am finding it hard to make meal choices, preparing what to eat, what to bring to work etc. (I am so used to cereal, sandwhiches, muffin - all easier to grab "on the go") I guess once I pass the induction period it will be easier. Just hope I lose some weight. --Joanie

Joanie; welcome and glad you stopped by.....pardon me sticking my nose in, but Tina is a South Beach *Vet* who has done this before and is just refocusing........sometimes we Vets do fall off program a little and have to regroup and refocus.........we have a lot of experience here and all in different phases, so you will get alot of different perspectives!

It's been a "chili kind of week" I guess - I made my crock pot chili yesterday, and it was JUST the ticket for when we got home after voting (and made the house smell really good when we got home from work). Crisp fall day and a nice tasty bowl of chili to "warm yer innards" - heaven!

Joanie - You will have great results with phase 1. In two weeks of phase 1 I lost 8-10 lbs. Like Cindy said I've been doing with awhile and have refocused. I have thyroid issues (which seem under control right now) and I am a huge emotional eater. I have a very ill family member right now. I need to learn to do something else for the emotional eating, it's a hard habit to break as I've been doing it 37 years. But I keep trying and I will be successful! HTH!

yesterdays menu:
b - 2 eggs, 2 sl turkey bacon
s - cottage cheese, green pepper slices
l - 1 c chili, green giant cauli w/cheese
s - almonds
d - sirloin steak, cauli w/fleishmans

MUSTA REALLY BEEN A CHILI DAY!!! love love love chili!

You're all making me hungry for chili!

Anyone else a fan of Biggest Loser? So glad Tracey finally got voted off last night!

I'm still doing some of the emotional eating also and need to break that very bad habit! I'm trying to do better today.

Hello Beachers...

Some really bad news here, one of our dearest friends passed away yesterday at age 45 from a massive heart attack. We are just sick over it. They were on a cruise to the Bahamas when it happened, which makes things so complicated. I feel so horribly sad for his wife and 3 boys.

So no talk about weight loss, exercise, etc. today from me. My advice is hug your family and your friends. Make the most of each day. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Take care!!
