Breastfeeding on SBD

Hi all

I'm nursing my almost 7 month old DD and want to start the SBD again! I did it after my DS who is now almost 3 and did great, but he wasn't nursing. (Long story) I have read some on how to do SBD while nursing however I'm confused because some websites say to start right on phase 2, and some say to start phase one with added milk each day (3 cups, I think?) and some say to not do it at all! Argh! I did WW for a few weeks and did great, but I need more structure for long term success. Also, I want to start on phase one to cut my sugar addiction. It worked WONDERS the last time I did it.

Any suggestions?

WOE: Vegetarian version of SB
Start Date: June, 2005
According to local physicians, SB phase 2 is ideal for nursing mothers. Think about it. You are eating lean meats, eggs, nuts, beans, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, reduced fat dairy, whole grains. What are you missing? Sugar? Cake? Cookies? White flour products? Chips and Pop Tarts? Empty calories? ( I'm trying to be funny, but see what I mean?) Take a weeks worth of typical SB phase 2 menus to any Dr. and see what he says. Just don't mention the words SB or diet. What would he add?

BTW, the book says that pregnant and nursing mothers should start in phase 2. And remember, all websites are not created equal. Check the book if you're in doubt about anything.

ETA: You could leave off "fruits" and not miss any nutrients as long as you eat a wide variety of vegetables. The best way to cure sugar addiction is to not use artificial sweeteners or sugar free products. Kill the need for the sweet taste, then naturally sweet foods will taste wonderful when you add them back in.

GREAT info, thanks so much. I have a serious sugar addiction and I am going to cut out everything sweet except fruit. Even fake sweeteners. I've got to kill the "need" for it. My mother and I were talking about this the other day (like we have a million times as we are both TRYING to be health conscious and are interested in healthy lifestyles) and she suggested cutting out those types of things. It's very hard at home when my husband brings crappy food home though!

Thanks again
