Oooh, Rose, I'm so into your new pix! Wow, have I been enjoying the fall colors. We had *perfect* weather for the last several days, highs in the 70s, light breeze if any, plus the beautiful trees.
Rose, Cindy, this meet-up sounds like a must! If Wiz and Dani can get together across the pond!! Jim, can't wait to hear about your weigh-in. Reno, really like your new avi. We've already had the flu 6 weeks ago, but I've been into re-disinfecting. Fall cleaning? Jo, glad you found a mentor. Serena, hope your trip is going well! Everyone else, let's keep at it. I'm inspired by the thought of just saying no. Thanks, Jim. I was all jazzed for my weigh-in this Thurs, but I was up 2 pds on Tues. Weds. I woke up thinking, why does my back hurt? Oh! Well, now the visitor's out of the way, back at it. I'm going to drink another couple glasses of water and hit the sack.http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf...ilies/hiya.gif

LinCO - I'm so right there with ya on the fall colors.
It was a BEAUTIFUL drive to northeastern Ohio this weekend, even if it was grey and drizzly until yesterday. I think I did pretty well over the weekend - I guess we'll see how the scale treats me when I weigh in tomorrow. It's TOM (started yesterday) so that may have effect things - we'll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned! Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend! |

Morning Gang!!!
Laurie and Euphrates....LOVE fall too, but we haven't had much of one around here.......GRRRRR! And Laurie; you are right - if Wiz and Dani can meet over THERE - and I am in Nashville this winter, it almost seems absurd if Rose and I can't meet! I have some good news to share! DD22 got engaged over the weekend! ![]() Lots of fun and planning ahead, although it won't be until summer/fall of 2011.......to get any venues you want, good photographer, etc - you have to book out two years unless you want a winter wedding, which she does not! Have a great week all!!!

We had house guests since Thursday and DH baked pumpkin pie, apple pie and cheesecake & pancakes for breakfast. Needless to say, too much temptation and had way too much sugar over the weekend, and the scale is way up today. I feel like I need to just drink gallons of water! I'm definitely back on track today and NO MORE SUGAR!
We had our first frost last night. I felt bad for our guests who were here for Bridge Day. It was cold and rainy the entire time. But it's supposed to be in 60s and maybe even 70 later this week - YEA, some warm sunny weather before winter!

Good morning gang,
Cindy - Congrats to your daughter, How exciting. OX - I made a cheesecake yesterday at the request of the family. I did sub out some lower fat/sugar items but it still was not on plan. I had a little piece (chocolates not my thing) and the rest is in the freezer. So over all my weekend was okay I got alot of housework done and spent some quality time with the kidos. We grilled a london broil and some speg squash for dinner last night. Today I have to go to Reno, I put it off for too long. Many stops to make in a short time, LOL. Food today will be: B - coffee, turkey bacon, egg, WW arnold thin L - salad with chicken D - pork chop, speg squash, sm potatos

Happy Monday...
Glad everyne is enjoying the fall colors. I love the autumn too. We are a bit past peak here in NY. We hiked Saturday and Sunday. Today is beautiful here but my ankle doesn't have a hike or probably even a walk in it. Off to the Y then... Had a good OP weekend... I'm slowly adding in the phase 2 carbs. Very slowly...so far I've had a tiny bit of rice, apples, and some brown rice flour on fish. I've added in some more beans and made pancakes with almond meal which technically is phase 1 but seemed too starchy to me. Tonight I'm going to try some more rice. What does everyone recomend? Brown rice? Any kind of brown rice? Would something like quinoa be better? I found this site and wanted to pass it along. Lots of great reipes here: Kalyn's Kitchen

I've heard Quinoa is good, but I have never had it. I make brown rice and use chicken stock to cook it in for flavor and usually and a few sliced almond as well.

I'm a Newbie! Joined the SBD site and not finding very many friends there... Anyway, I just started back on this diet yesterday -- it's been a number of years since I first did it and I lost 40 lbs. then. Due to illness and menopause and me becoming somewhat apathetic, I've packed about 55 lbs. back on! ![]() I'm looking for friends and support -- people I can share my journey with and talk me through my ice cream cravings!! ![]() Very nice to meet you all! ![]() Susan |

Back on the Beach
I lost 25 pounds using a modified version of SBD about 6 years ago, went back to my old WOE and, you guessed it, gained it all back..and then some! I now have about 35 pounds to lose..groan...know that this is the only way to go for me. I did it once, I can do it again!
Looking forward to inspiration and motivation from you all! |

Hi Susan!
Welcome strega*luna!Everyone, I'm not new and I lurk here, so thought it was time to start posting again to keep me on track! I've lost 35 pounds in the last six months and need to lose much more and it's time for me to reach my goal. I've been through a lot in the past year, a divorce and brain surgery which left me with left-sided numbness. I know that shouldn't be an excuse to gain weight, but gain I did. This board has always been an inspiration for me and I hope that I can inspire others along the way! ![]()

Hello all,
Back from a weekend of absolute fun and hilarity at my 30th HS reunion. I really could not have had a better time. But back to reality...my MiL had a stroke over the weekend and is in the hospital. Her right side is pretty much immobile, with slurred speech, etc. Her cognitive abilities are fine. As she said, my marbles are all here, I just can't spit them out as fast! But it will be a long rehab at 72 years old. Let's not talk about my food/drink intake this weekend, other than to say at least I took my sneakers and got a run in while away. I have to be honest, while not going overboard - I've got bigger worries than my eating right now. I am hovering a couple of pounds over my usual maintenance weight and it may stay that way for a while. Welcome to the Newbies!! I lost 40+ lbs last year in about 9 months and have been maintaining for over a year. SB is a simple plan and it WORKS!! Good luck. Go Phillies!!!

Hello all. I did say last week that I was posting to be a part of the social element here. Then processed to, of course, not post.
So its a new week and here I am, I feel like I'm fighting off something, so I had an orange, hoping the vitamin C will make up for the sugars I had. The week was really good, except my niece's 3 birthday meal was Pho and brownies, so I had some rice noodles and a small birthday brownie. Other than that I've had no issues staying OP, hopefully the bad carb Sunday followed up with an orange today will not send me back, craving wise not weight wise. Here's to a good week everyone! Cheers! |

Hiya friends!
Another beautiful day here, but a little cooler. Actually took a day off exercise, I'll be wanting to move my legs tomorrow. Reno, I'm eating spaghetti squash too! I still have so many tomatoes ripening in the window sill, we must've picked a bushel and a half back before the freeze we couldn't fake it thru. So I made spaghetti sauce yesterday, but ate it on squash myself. Cindy, yay for your dd! Wiz, so sorry about your MIL. I had a fab-o relationship w/ my MIL, but she's gone and left us. The trouble with being old! |

Well, I did my weigh in when I got up today...I'm extremely pleased.
Some quick background - I don't keep my scale out (we just don't have room anywhere), so I usually step on and off a few times to make sure it's calibrated okay, and then take whatever shows up 3 times in succession as my actual weight. Today when I stepped on it the first time, it read 251 - and that was 2 lbs down from last week, so I'd totally have taken that and been okay with it. Then I stepped on again. *blink* And stepped on 2 more times to see if it stayed the same. Yep - my actual weight this week was 248.5!!! I lost 4 1/2 lbs this week! Which means I've lost 12.5 lbs total since I started SB 3 weeks ago! ![]() ![]() The weekend was weird as far as eating goes - I had a LOT of salad, carried nuts with me, and my water bottle so I drank a lot of water. There weren't a lot of good choices available at the con, but I think I did pretty well (in fact, both times we ate at the bar I got the open faced steak sandwich and just ate the steak - which had mushrooms and onions on it just the way I like it - and gave the french fries and garlic bread to my mate). On Saturday we hadn't eaten yet when we went to his mom's, and she'd ordered pizza. I had one slice, and I did have a small piece of cake. And then danced all that off at the party that night ![]() (yeah, I know alcohol isn't exactly on plan either, but I so seldom drink, and it was free...). So, I had a few challenges but I did my best to not *over* eat anything, and only had small amounts of anything off-plan, and it paid off. I'll tell you what - having my mate notice when I'm making good choices (like he noticed I only had one piece of the pizza), and tell me he's proud of me makes ALL kinds of difference. How can you feel deprived with that kind of reward? (Not that I feel deprived anyway - I feel like I'm putting good fuel in my body, and since I'm paying closer attention I'm enjoying what I eat more anyway). I'm totally loving this!Last edited by Euphrates; 10-20-2009 at 04:07 AM.. |

Hey People! I am so sick, I can't think straight. I spent all day yesterday at the state library for a workshop about managing stress and learned so much. It was like a beta test for a new workshop and now I can go teach other people. Then by bedtime, I was getting sick.
I slept til nearly 3:00. I think I'll be out the rest of the week. Cindy, wonderful news! New people. to everyone else. I'm going back to bed. ![]() |

Hello all! Happy Tuesday!
I love the fall picture.. we've had some nice fall weather this week here in Rochester NY -we sometimes skip fall and head into winter so its nice! I was pleased with my weight loss in Stage 1 - 5.8 lbs. I'd like to lose another seven to reach my goal weight. For me I can't believe how SB is like riding a bike, haven't done it in close to 3 years but it all came right back. The cravings are gone and now I am just going by the book. I am having hard time introducing the carbs in but that will come. I love all the posts and reading about the recipe ideas! |

Totally didn't make it to the store like I'd planned yesterday, so today it's vital. *sigh* Was down to my last frozen dinner for work, and it was one that I'd bought before I'd gone on plan - still, it was a Weight Watcher's "Smart Ones" so I'm not horribly concerned. Just making SURE to make good choices the rest of the day.
Rose - oh I hope you feel better soon. Sick is no fun! Friskybiznus - good for you! It drives me crazy when they have work functions - especially breakfast - and all they provide is donuts and bagels. Sheesh. Thanks for the kudos everybody, and new folks. ![]() |

Hi everyone.
![]() Doctor's appointment went well yesterday. Lost only four pounds for all my effort but since I'm a very slow loser I guess I'll take it. For the entire last month my calories have averaged between 1600 and 1800 per day, which means I should be losing two pounds a week without even getting out of bed. ![]() Anyway, got my regular flu shot while I was there but my doc says the h1n1 vaccine won't be ready for another month or so, and even then he may not get any. By the time the dang vaccine is finally available everyone will have already had the flu! Hope everyone is doing well.
