Here's what I ate today.

Boiled egg with jalapeno mayonnaise, V-8, hot tea
Mixed greens topped with red bean salad ( red beans, chopped egg, pickle, celery onion and just enough mayonnaise to mix), about half a serving of broccoli salad
Stir fried vegetable mix, fancy mushrooms, tofu, shiritake noodles, Mozzarella cheese, grape tomatoes, basil, watermelon
Mocha.
Not enough water

And tonight I'm way on beyond crabby. My last nerve went.

Oh, Jim, you just made my day. The handsome young man in the pic is my Irish "son". He should look very young since he is 21. Dale is my oldest daughter's ex boyfriend. He lived with our family for almost a year and then finally moved to Ireland last September. We've remained very close and when I visited Ireland in March, he took me on a personal walking tour of Dublin. The avi pic was taken of us at Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin. I have a hard time talking about him without tearing up... he's just one of my kids and I miss him and am so very proud of that young man.

Whoo hoo! Down 1 lb this week from sig weight. We're moving, we're moving!

I guess drinking my water, eating healthy, and exercising really works - and being CONSISTENT actually works?

Go Stella! What kind of water bottle didja get? I use Sigg, aluminum I think. I have a 1.5L and a 1L, I wish my car had a nice big holder for 'em.

Sorry about not getting back to you on the cauliflower pizza crust. Thanks, Luisa. Yes, Rose, it's from Cleo. Cauliflower is the first thing DD ever ate! I make cream of cauliflower soup and we love it. She was 5 mos. old (6y.o. now), sitting on Daddy's lap and she wasn't going to have him eating the whole bowl! We love cauliflower.

All, I really recommend reading around this board. It doesn't *really* matter if it's Atkins-ish or SB-ish, in a lot of senses they're very similar. E.g., no eating donuts and just counting the points!! Take that, Weight Watchers!

Anyway, I wanted to do a 3 day lowcarb (85gr carb), ended up 2 days low carb, yesterday medium (135 gr). Weigh-in today, but as of yesterday, I had dropped like a rock to my low. I have also ditched the inches I'd puffed up. Back to lowcarb today.

Rose, DH keeps talking about B12. I was at the store the other day and there was a baby really givin' it heck. I told DH, "That's what I feel like all the time!" You know, that physiological response Moms have, alert, alert, tend your baby! Definitely a my-nerves-are-shredded feeling. I was telling my Dad when I talked to him for Father's Day, did Mom get worn out taking us to family camp? I don't remember her being short-tempered, but I sure feel like she was way nicer than me. 'Course, she was also fat!!

Dani, did you ever find out what you've had??

Where's our Serena?!

Hello gang!

I was MIA yesterday because I was absolutely miserable and I really didn't want to inflict it on all of you! However, I am slightly more human today and decided to check in. (And for those of you curious about why I was so cranky...it was combination of this never-ending rain, ToM, and a horrendous day at work. Need I say more??)

And guess what? Yes, more rain again today (18 out of the last 20 days have rained here - my plants are literally rotting from all of this water.) So off to my basement on my treadmill, did 40 mins of uphill walking and HIIT jogging. Felt good, but not as good as getting outside.

Stella, great news on seeing that scale move!!

Rose, in the almost 18 months I've been here, I don't remember you ever posting your menu!! Hang in there.

Oh geez, Jim, you've made Cookie's head swell up. We'll never be able to live with her now LOL!

OK, folks, hope you all have a great OP day!!

Good Morning. Well I did not have a good day yesterday!!! Food was on track until I decided to make some oatmeal cranberry cookies for the kids (yeah right) The cranberrys were getting old so I wanted to use them up. I ate a few, yes I did! Now the rest of my meals were good, but what a stupid thing to do.

Okay on to today. I am off to Reno again, shopping, and picking up more book work.
I plan on an OP day!!!!

B- coffee, cantaloupe

L - salad with chicken

D - London broil, broccoli

I was also wondering about Sereena, I hope she's okay

Hi Everyone!
Well, my stomach is STILL not functioning as it should....my dr. sent me for a CT Scan of my stomach just to be sure it's not diverticulitis (sp?), the CT Scan dr. ruled that out, so now on to plan b...whatever that is. I am currently full of barium....and feel that I am glowing from all of the radiation. Is barium high in carbs?!? LOL! God, I hate that stuff!

Anywho...I'm going to do the califlower pizza crust pizza this weekend..it looks SO good!

Hope you're feeling better Wiz....the only thing good about all of this rain is that it is making me take care of the INSIDE of my house.

I hope Serena checks in soon. I, too, have been thinking about her.

I hope everyone else has a great Thursday! I'll stop back later.

Hi peeplez. Thurs is my day off; maybe I can recharge my batteries a little.

Wiz, thanks for the hug. I love gray, gloomy rainy weather. I don't know why, but I always have. I love sitting on the porch and watching the rain coming across the valley, then hearing it hit the metal roof. When we lived on the bay in Texas, I would sit on the dock and watch storms come across the bay and not go in until I was drenched. I used to post menus regularly a long time ago, but quit when someone ( a long time ago) made a snide remark, in order not to stir the pot. Anyway, for the last few weeks, I've just been eating whatever was around and handy without conscious thought. Nothing bad, cause there's nothing bad in the house, except my husband's sugary granola, which I don't eat anyway. I know I haven't been drinking enough water and too much coffee and I think I haven't had enough protein.

Stella, you hit the nail on the head. Consistency.

Laurie, Cleo does come up with some clever recipes. That crust is interesting. Have you tried it yet?

RenoMom, the next time you want oatmeal cookies, try these oatmeal bars, cookies. Food/snacks for a 15 hour car drive?

Cindy, thanks for the hug. I think if I just jerk some knots in some tails tomorrow, instead of just hoping that the little twerps will quit playing around and actually do what they are being PAID to do, I will feel better.

soozaay(pretend this is in bright red letters) I've been meaning to ask: Where did you live in Chicago and for how long. We moved to Chicago when I got married and I absolutely fell head over heels in love with it. I would go back in a heartbeat. I dream of winning the lottery and then I could just go back and spend all my time living in Chicago.

Touche' Who needs Weight Watchers?? yuk!

Sorry for those that are not feeling well! Here's to hoping you get better soon!!

I made Cindy's savory version of the "bean cake" (in the SB forum sticky) and it is super good and a very satisfying snack!

I'm still nervous about adding the carby items to my menu even though I'm on Phase 2, but trying to be conservative so as not to lose control.

B - Sautee'd greens with chicken and pesto

S: 2" x 2" slice of "bean cake"

L: Salad with chicken and EVOO dressing

D: WW spaghetti and meatballs, roasted veggies

I was born & raised in the Chicagoland area (western suburbs, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton - near Naperville). I lived there until 1997. If it were possible to move Chicago to the Atlantic Ocean, I would live there again in a heartbeat! I miss it...it is my favorite city. I go back at least once a year. I used to go back more often, but both of my parents have now passed (my mom in 2007), and the rest of my family is spread around the US, so I don't get back as much as I like. I will ALWAYS be a Chicago girl...and I love every minute of it!

Whereabouts did you live? In the city or a suburb?

Tracy- glad you liked the savory tweak.

Rose - We have some twerps here too and they are ticking me off for the same reason!

ETA: I could NOT do Weight Watchers again - I am a lifer who lost a lot of weight with them back in the day........I think too many of the WWer's are using their points to eat crap instead of focusing on healthy eating.

So yeah, take that WWer's!!!!

Hello Everyone!

I am back!
My DD is going on three months and I realize it's time to come back to the Beach. I am on day four of Phase I and so far so good... well no.. I am going to be honest.. I did have a little red wine on Tuesday night. I am so used to having wine with my dinner. It's a habit I will have to break out of if I want to complete Phase I.

I look forward to the support of this board!

Rose - Thank You I saved that recipe for a later date

Question for you all. My DH has been feeling really week and tired lately, not norm for him. He goes to the DR for blood work and a check up on July 1st.
Any ideas on what I can give him OTC to perk him up? He doesn't feel like he's coming down with something. He wonders if its his heart?

This really is not enough info. Why would he think it is his heart? Any prior problems? Any symptoms other than tiredness?

How is his eating and sleeping?

1 more day of work for me...then it is my summer vacation till the end of August! Woohoo!!

Laurie, no I never found out what it was. I had a cold for 2 weeks that I think turned into a virus when I had the fever over the weekend. Luckily I'm feeling soooo much better now. My sister said a lot of kids at her school had the same thing but they were reluctant to classify it as swine flu. Who knows...mine could have been that!

Where is Serena? Miss you pretty lady!

Rose, you feeling any better today?

Hugs to the rest of the beachers!

So, I'm in the kitchen, happily chopping away on 4 heads of organic broccoli, picked yesterday. I have broccoli salad in mind. Toss it in a bowl, start to add more stuff, look down and my eye picks up just a slight wiggle of movement. Look closer, see a little green caterpillar. Look closer, see more little green caterpillars. I don't think I chopped one. Dump everything in a bowl of salted water. That makes everything buggy float to the surface, right? Right???

Rose, you feeling any better today? Aside from my general crabbiness, I think so. Not coughing as much. School has been out for about two weeks, so I thing that helped with the passing it back and forth among the population. It really isn't swine flu or anything, but the whole county has had something for a couple of months.

General question. Is chicken and fish meat? (I've been off in another thread.)

Yuck! If the salt doesn't work, add some vinegar.
I picked my first two heads of broccoli today out of my garden, I was thinking broccoli salad too. I like mine with out the worms. Would they be considered veggie or protein?

I'm glad the Beachers are on their way to feeling better! Nothing worse than feeling fluish. Yuck!

My menu today:
B: Cindy's smoothie concoction with mixed berries (we are really liking this!)
S: Almonds -- which we will not discuss any further
L: Chicken/swiss/mustard/lettuce on Arnold's rounds and my leftover Italian dump (zuke/squash/tomatoes/artichokes/northern beans etc) from the night before
D: grilled chicken breast, small yam, cauliflower, carrots, broc, gr. bean medley

Iced green tea / water / 1/2 cup of coffee

Oh Rose! Yuck! It reminds me of the time my husband ordered mussels marinara. He was halfway through his dish when he realized he was about to bite into some kind of gross sea critter - definitely not a mussel. I don't think he's had mussels since then!

Oh, man! Youall! First we got the barium, then we got the worms, then we got gross sea critters! My stomach feels a little bleah from all the protein, anyway.

BTW, I meant "take that Weight Watchers" the organization, not to WW the peeps. I am a lifer myself, but totally lost my muscle tone by dieting and not working out. Eating donuts but keeping below my points allowance. Man, can I eat some of that veggie soup! It sounds good right now! I would put red beans, the 1pt kind, and a speck of alphabet pasta, some spaghetti sauce seasoning and then stir in pesto. Yum. That's actually SB friendly.

Since everybody was being frank about their crankiness, I thought heck, I'm taking a couple of these nerve tonics, the homeopathic kind. I had the most pleasant disposition I've had in I can't remember how long! I felt like, "Ah, that's nice, it's summer." Ha! You CAN buy that in a bottle!

Today was weigh-in, and despite oinking out unstintingly over the weekend, now that I'm doing this low carb thing, I'm down 2 pounds from where I'd bounced back up to. I can also see the difference in the mirror-I went to Pilates today, looked in the mirror and said, omigosh, I didn't think there was anything left to lose off my chest!! Joke's on me!!

We've used Calms Forte for decades. When DD was a baby, she called them "green grouchy pills."

Grouchy pills!

Rose, are those good for relieving stress or are they more of a sleep aid? I could use some stress relief but need something I can take during the day, not to fall asleep.
