Totally agree with RenoMom and if Rose pops in she will concur - there aren't ANY frozen meals out there that are acceptable really for any phase. There are just too many unknowns in them, plus the sodium content alone is enough to show an upward spike in the scale.

We just shooed everyone out and locked the doors, so I'm here for a minute. I was just about to say make your own, but you all beat me to it. I was flipping through the new Prevention while I was shelving magazines this afternoon and saw something about freezer-friendly meals. prevention.com/freezer. I haven't looked at the site yet, but most any recipe can be made SB friendly and it might give us some ideas anyway. Off to Walmart.

MJ - you are doing so well........so keep doing what you are doing - sometimes it does take a bit more work, but it's all worth it in the end!

You could always throw your microwave out like I did. Then frozen dinners become much less convenient.

Hope everyone has a great on-plan weekend!

THANKS!!!!
I've never liked/had a purchased frozen meal that I have liked. I alway cook more than two of us need and freeze portion size servings. It's so much simpler to just cook more and freeze it ASAP. You will be surprised how fast your freezer fills up. It also comes in handy when the kids/grandkids come for a visit or when I'm away and DH needs a fast meal.

We did basically the same thing...our microwave died just before we moved and we haven't replaced it yet....it's kinda nice...except for leftovers, i have to heat up the whole oven...but so far I really haven't missed the micro.

Copied from my journal:
Well, since posting this morning...my cold symptoms are getting worse. I started off this morning just with the cough, sore throat, headache and stuffy nose. As the day progressed (spent it literally in bed) I began to get warm. Took my temperature about 6 PM and I was 99.3. Took more meds, ate and drank some water and then back to bed. Just woke up (it is 1 AM here) and my temp is now 100.3. I'm thinking it may be the dreaded virus all over the news. The guidance counselor at school had symptoms of it (including the fever) but was not officially diagnosed because she didn't have any nausea or vomiting. Her cold/virus lasted about 2 weeks as well. She was out for a few days earlier this week and came back on Thursday. I started feeling sick again on Friday... I wish my school nurse had told her to stay home...thinking this must be who I got the current strain from. Most sick students, teachers at work just have the cold that I started out with...no fever.

Luckily, my husband doesn't have any of the symptoms yet. He's been taking care of me. If the fever persists, I will be calling out Monday and going to the DR. Not really how I planned on surviving the last week of school, but what can you do.

If I'm feeling up to it and bored...I'll post here. If you don't see me for a few days, it is because I am probably in nyquil lala land and turning on the Mac may be a challenge.

Love to all of you!

P.S. At least I'm not contagious thru the screen!

Jim- I miss you when you don't post! Especially the silly stuff! Help a sick girl out!

Dani I'm sorry your sick, being sick in the summer is just wrong!

I'm home this morning with my 13 yr old and 3 yr old. Our 13 yr old (Ethiopian) daughter keeps getting this horrible staff infection in her eyes. This is the 4th time in 4 months. Her eyes swell closed and drain nasty stuff. She was on antibiotics for a month the last time so I thought she had kicked it once and for all... apparently not. My 3 yr old stepped on a bee and her foot is swollen twice it's normal size.

I've been thinking this morning that following the SB diet seems so much easier for me this time around. I think I've figured out why... I discovered I couldn't have wheat/gluten and HF Corn syrup after I quit Sb last year and started eating a "normal" American diet again. I was so sick! It took months of elimination diets to pinpoint exactly what was causing all my stomach pain.
It's been really hard for me not to eat the way the rest of my family eats which is healthy because I cook everything from scratch and we grow all of our own meat and veggies organically, but includes a lot of wheat and corn.
I get really frustrated and angry sometimes about my limitations. I love to cook and bake and I make several kinds of homemade bread each week along with many other yummy things I know I can not eat. It frustrates me to no end when one of my kids complains about the food I fix, because I would love to be able to eat what they eat. This has been a huge problem with our Ethiopian girls, because when they first came here, they would only eat 4 foods- bananas, oranges, rice and white bread. The first few months they were home was very difficult for me because I would work hard to prepare a great and healthy meal and they would turn their noses up at it. Over the last 4 months we've all had to compromise, they have had to learn to eat new things and I've learned to cook a lot of ethnic foods (which btw are far healthier than then most American foods) Sometimes because of my limitations I really resent having to cook, but when you have a family of 11, you can't just quit. Whether I want to or not, cooking is a huge part of my life.

Anyways, All of this to say... I am finding my gluten and corn intolerance a real blessing right now while doing Sb. I've been away from wheat and corn for so long that I have Zero temptation in that area.

Sorry to ramble on...I just wanted to share my discovery...I've been so negative about this for so long, I can't believe that it has turned into a good thing! Now I'm wondering what took me so long to come back to Sb...

Beth ~

Beth

You know what? The first time DH and I did SB we did GREAT. Then came quite a few upheavals followed by a long stressful time in our lives. We gave in to the stressors and gained our weight back. We've been trying desperately to get back on the beach with no success until this last attempt. We are once again doing great. I think I've figured out (for me anyway) what the problem has been. I've been focusing on what I "can't have" rather than what I "can have." I knew I felt better with my first successful trip on the beach but it was tough to remember how much better I felt until I was again successfully running down "the beach" again.

Blessings come in all forms and we need to constantly remind ourselves to look for the positive or what lesson we need to learn from each experience in our life.

I love to cook and bake and can totally relate to what you are saying.

Hang in there -- you are doing great!

Dani - Feel better!

Jim - Are you crazyLOL. I love love love my micro. I mostly use it to re heat leftovers, or make the kids oatmeal. That was one of the first appliance we replaced when buying this house two years ago.

Okay gang I am officially worn out. I have completely gone through every item in my kid(s) rooms this weekend. They have never looked this clutter free.
My DS(10) is dying to get his computer hooked up so the deal was I buy him a Modem if I am allowed to toss much of the clutter. I even organized all his video games in his cabinet and rolled all power cords etc. This was no easy task I am happy to say I am done! Now to get them to keep it that way.

Food has been good, which is great for me over a weekend. It's my hardest time.

B- egg salad, thin bread

sn - string cheese

L - salad with chicken and honey mustard

D - steak, sm. yam, salad

Desert - cantaloupe (we are the home of the Fallon melon after all)
I made the family fruit salad (watermelon, cantaloupe, black berries, strawberries, and grapes).

This is what I ate today:

B- rr w/cream cheese and blueberries
S-cup of cream of broccoli soup
L- broccoli and some chicken salad on a lettuce leaf, a few grapes
S- cheese, honey dew melon
D- Tikil Gomen & sauce, garden greens salad
S- Cottage cheese mixed with sf jello powder

I usually try to limit myself to one fruit a day...oops!

Farmers wife, I really hope you do get a 2nd opinion re: your knee. Too young for surgery? That sounds crazy. If you need a new knee then, you NEED a new knee.

I've known many people that had knee replacements due to sports injuries, or because of weight problems and improper posture. Age is not a factor because from what I hear? People that have had the surgery wish they had done it sooner. No need to be in pain. Ohhhh.....

No, I do not make a profit off of any surgeon.
