Hi all! Well 1 week gone and 4.6 lbs gone also!!! I couldn't believe it when I got on the scale. I have been trying to walk every day if only for 20 minutes. I have the advantage of living within walking distance of a Walmart and I can always find something I need to buy lol!! We have a dinner to go to in a few minutes and I am stressing about what might be served. I should probably stash something in my purse in case I need it.

Luisa - nope, you haven't missed anything. I'm still searching. Trying to remain optimistic though.

Beth - ok, my head almost exploded just reading all that. My goodness... Brangelina have nothin on you babe!

Soozay - hope you are ok.

Monster mammoth headache today. Wouldn't you know it's the day I decided to do Dani's no soda challenge. I even left out the morning coffee so that I could treat myself to a sugar free, skinny, vanilla iced latte. But, I did make it through the day soda free. It was no big deal in France, but now that I'm back in the US, I find soda so readily available for next to nothing in enormous sizes... the convenience of it is very tempting.

Menu
B - rolled oats with peanut butter
S - almonds, banana
L - grilled turkey breast on ww bread with lf cheese, dill pickle
S - sf ff creamsicle
D - chicken fajita on ww tortilla with lf cheese

Probably too much bread/tortilla/oats for one day, but I'm once again trying to encourage my kids to clean up their eating and get off the sugar, so I am making family friendly stuff. I already have some wonderful salmon and salad lined up for tomorrow... the kids can have the leftovers from today. Ha ha!

Dani - you are so close to goal now and things are going to slow way way down. You have come so far and you remain my inspiration. On days that I just don't feel like even trying, you always seem to pop in with a message on facebook or here to keep me going. Did you know that? It's true. Makes me feel like I have my own personal cheerleader. Thank you!!!

Hiya friends!
I have a girlfriend who was complaining of working out so much and being stuck with her weight. Well, just to be compatible, ha ha, I've been working out more and not as careful with my eating. I am eating the same cals, according to fitday, but more carbs. Guess what, it doesn't work. Not to say don't work out, just don't use all your will power on that! I already knew this, the next question is why did I match my gf if I knew better?

I also was trying to eat a little less in the snack department. I was rereading P2, it says am snack can be a hardboiled egg. I've been having yogurt, whey + allbran, 2.5x the calories. So I tried cutting back, spacing breakfast, snack and lunch out until early afternoon. That left me eating at night, another thing I already knew.

Me and my happy self-knowledge are off to church camp, where we eat in the dining hall for lunch and dinner. Luckily, there's a long walk to our camping spot, so I get exercise.

I am really looking forward to coming back!!

Stella, I thought I was reading an Atkins meal plan looking at your menu! See what I'm saying? Have you done Atkins?

Good morning Beachers!!

I just finished up a 5-mile run. It was 100% humidity out there today, so I was like a big sponge.

Happily, after 2 days of strict Phase 1, I was back at my normal weight this morning (for the first time since Memorial Day , oops.) I am celebrating by enjoying a whole wheat english muffin, leftover pork tenderloin, roasted red pepper and a little horseradish sauce as a breakfast sandwich. Yum. I was feeling a little bit "egged" out.

Susie, hope you are feeling okay today. what a stressful thing to happen...

Laurie, basically you were on my maintenance plan! I exercise more than I used to and I eat a bit more than I used to (well, I eat more carbs, not necessarily more food.) But for the most part, it keeps my weight very static. But as you can see, I don't lose any weight that way (nor am I trying to.)

Rose, hmmm...debauchery. that sounds interesting All I did was go a BBQ....

Cookie and Dani, you girls are putting me to shame. I have not even made an attempt to give up my diet soda. Even though I know it is the worst thing I could put in my mouth. We are down to 2 cans of Diet Coke in the house, I am giving serious consideration to kicking the habit. But I am sooooo weak.

Judy, great work on your loss!!

Stella, what's in that chicken artichoke casserole, it sounds good.

Gotta get moving, work is breathing down my neck

Thanks for your support guys. Today is much better...stomach not in knots anymore. Got some great sleep last night...went to bed at 5:30...woke up at 8, had a light dinner, then went back to bed & slept until I had to get up this morning.

Weighed myself today...and I lost another 4 lbs...making my 2-week phase 1 total loss 10 lbs! Woo-hoo! I know it's not going to always be like this, so, I'm excited for today! I will never see those 10 lbs again!

Have a great day everyone.

Rosie you're funny.... and right. I had green peppers and onions in those fajitas but otherwise the veggies were absent yesterday. NOT a good thing. Today I will have lots of veggies. Cross my heart.

BTW - is a pickle a veggie? Seems to me that once you "pickle" it, it becomes another food group entirely.

Cookie - LOL I was gonna say don't forget the pickle.

LinCo - Have fun camping. I'm glad you reported in on your more exercise find. I have a GF that believes if she works out more she can eat what she want's, LOL it doesn't look like it's working for her either.

Stella - I wazs going to ask about the artichoke chicken too, sounds delish.

Dani - I am also trying to go without diet soda. It forces me to drink more water which I know my body needs, especially with all the meds I am on.

Rose, Cindy, Serena, and everyone else

Would yu believe I got summoned for Jury duty! I am not too happy about it for many reasons. One is that its summer time and I am a SAHM, so now what I have to pay for 2 kids to be in Day Care all day for however long? I also have that Dr appt with my Endo a week from Monday. I have been waiting months to see him! I have to go in and "tell it to the judge" Monday morning. I sure hope I get excused.

Last night I made the best dinner. I made Turkey meatballs (Same as my meatloaf recipe) with brown rice cooked in chicken broth with parsley and slivered almonds mixed in, and steamed green beans to top it off. Even the kids loved it! DH had seconds so I know he liked it too.
Tonight I am making the family chicken burritos with rice and beans, but I am grilling lemon chicken for me to have on top of romaine with red onion and tomato. I have a really yummy mustard vinegrette dressing that I make to go over it. I'm starting to get excited about cooking again which is key for me.

My exercise plan today is to take the kids to the park after the library, and walk around the path as much as I can. This Syatic nerve is killing me, its hard to walk, even sleep at night. I need to get some weight off quick. I know that's all that will help.

I will post the chicken/artichoke casserole on the recipes thread. I am warning you - there is an "illegal" can of Cream of Chicken soup in it .

Are you on Day 2 of no diet soda? It gets easier after the withdrawals the first few days! Now I pretty much only crave water.

You can do it too Wiz! I feel a lot better since giving it up and my eating is so much better. I used to get so hungry after dinner when I was drinking it...now I'm usually not hungry unless it is my TOM. I also used to get headaches if I didn't have the splenda and aspertame at a certain time each day.

I hope you will give it a shot!

Hi y'all!
More research from me: I do think you have to shake it up every so often, keep your body from getting habituated. I was kind of carb cycling for a while and it helped. I ate more protein yesterday and feel like I'm in ketosis today, that funny feeling in your mouth and throat, do youall get that? But I pulled on these size 8 jeans this morning and they fit great.

It rained all stinking night here, I think the kids and I have agreed to head to camp tomorrow morning. I like tent camping, but it puts you more at the mercy of the weather than having a trailer.

I am delighted youall are getting off diet soda!! I tell you, one way I notice my hormones are swacked is Diet Pepsi sounds good. When my hormones are in order, it sounds like a bunch of chemicals. For years, I drank seltzer with a little juice in it, but that adds salt and sugar to your diet.

I think if you're at maintenance and you work out a lot and eat whatever, it can work, but not to lose.

Diet Soda update....I did some food shopping over lunch (FYI. For those that don't know, I work virtual from my home. I'm a global sales director for a large telecom equipment manufacturer.) I did NOT buy any Diet Coke. Arrrgh. This will be tough, especially in the morning. But I will give it a try.

And to please Rose, I also didn't buy my Activia Lite yogurt, I got plain old nonfat yogurt and a bunch of blueberries.

So those are my main (maybe only?) sources of artificial sweetners. I pledge to give this a try...but if I am cranky all week, my husband will be tracking down Dani!!

Yay Wiz!

My same GF who works out a lot and doesn't eat so well, she was diagnosed with aspartame poisoning.

And her degree is in exercise physiology!

One of my favorite "detox" things to do is have warm water with lemon juice first thing in the am. It's supposed to help your liver.

I'd say youall getting off diet soda will pay major benefits in health problems you don't get later.

I'm definitely one of those people that need to get off the Diet Soda. I've been weening myself off the stuff since starting SB. I'm down to a can a day...once I get deep into Phase 2 I'm planning on quitting all together, so, I'm interested in hearing your experience with this Wiz!

Dani - yep, day 2 soda free (so far). I did have my coffee this morning though. I am not trying to cut out artificial sweetners, just carbonated beverages.

Wiz - your yogurt and blueberries sound lucious...I just hate that blueberries are about 3.50 a pint here. Have they always been that expensive or have I just never paid attention before?

Menu:
B - oats, nat peanut butter, banana
S - ff sf yogurt
L - grilled salmon, 2 cups steamed veggies
S - pecans, sf ff fudgescicle
D - marinated grilled salmon, broccoli, tomatoes

Rose - look... veggies!!!

Hi gang,
I rarely get diet soda anymore, once I start I cannot stop. Its a treat for me. Diet Limeades from Sonic are my roadtrip weakness. I think it's diet 7UP or something.
I'm enjoying the lime Perrier now and it is really refreshing post yoga!
Dinner was chopped salad with Italian dressing, mozzarella

I need some dessert ideas...anyone? I've been having some peanut butter and a glass of milk!

Top Chef Masters on Bravo tonight. can't wait!

Hello everyone.
Congrats to everyone who is kicking the diet soda habit! A few of us here did a no-soda challenge last year and I'm happy to report that I'm still soda-free so it definitely can be done. The results have been very positive and I don't miss the stuff one bit now. Hang in there. You can do it!

If you don't mind, I'm going to post what I eat every day. I really need the accountability.

B- 2 strips of bacon (yes, the real thing, I find turkey bacon repulsive) two eggs
L- Pork bulgogi wrapped in romaine lettuce leaves
s- none
D- Salad w/ lots of veggies, chicken, cheese, hb egg and vinaigrette dressing, cottage cheese
s- celery w/ natural PB
70 oz water
