I'm new to SB - hello
hello all,
i am new to the forum - Lola . Im 35 years, working mum (of one very busy two year old). i started SBD on 15 April and managed to get to 24 April before i crashed and burned (bad news and i turned to wine and carbs ) The turning point for me was when i discovered that i weighed the same as i did at the height of my pregnancy - two years after the birth ![]() I started phase one again on monday and i've been surfing the sites as a guest. Living in SA means that i have to make regular adjustments to the menu plan - for example we dont have "string cheese" or "egg replacement". but making do. i managed to lose 1kg before i lost control. so i am now 65kg (Monday). plan to weigh in every week. i hope to get through the induction with a mininmum of disruptions. 3rd day and i am not feeling too bad. |

You don't have to eat egg replacers; real eggs are fine. If fact, you don't have to eat any particular thing. Just base your menus on allowable foods, in the right combinations and you will be just fine. You don't need to follow the exact menus in the book; those are there to guide you. Try to identify what caused you to jump ship and fix that problem and it won't happen again.
aboard. |

When I did SB, I recycled a lot of the same meals because there are certain ingredients that I cannot stand and it was totally fine. If you don't have egg replacers you can do partial egg whites with real eggs. Because egg replacers are 99% egg whites anyway. Hang in there! I would say days 3-5 were the hardest for me, the second week was easier than the first. Phase 1 is the hardest, but once you get through the 2 weeks the next phases will be a walk in the park. Good luck to you!

Hi,
I've been told to lose 30 pounds and need to do it quick! (Both for medical reasons AND because summer is coming. I need to get an idea whether people here think South Beach Diet is worth my time researching, or should I look elsewhere? |

jahall - I certainly wouldn't look to any weight loss program as quick......slow and steady wins the race. Summer is right around the corner, and realistically, 30 lbs by then is unrealistic.
Now if you want to eat healthy, change your eating habits and lose weight - SB is a great, great way of eating, and way of life. |

I came back to SB just last month 5 years ago I lost 80lbs on SB before I too fell to wine and carbs. Give it a chance to work. Ask for help. Post on the forums. Call a friend. Don't skip snacks. I've felt very welcome here and I know you will too. Keep at it.

I'm down 8 pounds since last Monday. I've been stuck the past two days but that's probably because I haven't exercised as much as I should. I mean, come on, there's a reason I'm this fat in the first place. My friend is doing the same diet and she is down 9 pounds. That's not even two weeks! So yes, give it a go and welcome aboard. |

Hi Everyone,
Coming back to the Beach after my first attempt in Nov 08, lost 8 lbs the first 2 weeks, which was very inspiring, why I turned back to my old ways I don't know. I think I definitely need a support group. I am a stay at home Mom and practically live in the kitchen having my 2 youngest boys being ages 1 and 2. So hello, and I hope to post as much as possible, my menus, losses, etc. |
