Thinking about making the switch
to South Beach from Atkins Induction tomorrow.
I think I need a plan that's more workable. Has anyone done this? |

There are quite a few of us actually who came to South Beach from Atkins. I found the added variety and unlimited veggies to be a huge benefit and helped me stay on-plan better. Don't be surprised if you see the scale go up some after switching, especially since you are coming straight from induction which strips a lot of water from your body. South Beach does not advocate ketosis for weight loss. Once your fluids re-stabilize though you'll see the scale move down and it will be fat not water you lose. I honestly think you'll find, like the rest of us, that South Beach is an enjoyable and easier to maintain way of eating.

I was thinking of switching as well. Ive done SB before but never really took it seriously. Now that I've done Atkins for about 8 weeks I am starting to think that SB might be a lot easier now.
I really enjoy Atkins but want to focus more on healthy fats, whole foods, organic, etc. |

Wait for me! I was so discouraged yesterday, I was ready to quit low-carb altogether. I've been extremely tired and lethargic and am beginning to feel it is related to diet. I've been getting plenty of exercise. Shouldn't I be feeling energized by now?
I started re-reading my YOU On A Diet book but was afraid it would be too drastic of a change and really mess up my weight loss. Then I remembered my South Beach book and picked it back up. I coming with you all! Maria <off to the grocery store> Last edited by maria40nc : 09-14-2008 at 06:14 AM. Reason: typo |

I remember being on South Beach several years ago and I followed it to the letter. Made the dressing (which I still do). Broiled my very first salmon, too! I was so very excited and then life came crashing down and I reverted back to my old eating habits. It has come full circle for now I eat very similar to South Beach.
