How quickly did SB work for you?

I'm interested in SB. It looks like something I might actually be able to stick with--but before I jump in I just wanted to ask, how long have you been on the program, and about when did you start seeing results?

I lost 30 pounds on SB last year, but unfortunately put it all back on. I blame stress! Anyway, I have been back on SB since Monday and I've already lost 7 or 8 pounds! The first week of course is the fastest, but I tend to lose between 9-13 pounds the first two weeks. It really is true what they say about losing belly fat! I LOVE SB. I dont think I will ever do any other diet plan and this time I plan to make it my forever way of eating. For me, I see results after the first day, but if you feel really bad for a few days or get headaches, dont be discouraged and dont give up. That is basically your body detoxing from the sugar and bad carbs! It gets better! Drink lots of water!

SB is the BEST I've been on. I had done Atkins and lost 35 pounds in 4 months years ago, but it became difficult to stick with. What I love about SB is being able to drink milk among other things! And I feel so much healthier! Its always a good feeling when you come out of that nasty "carb fog".

Good luck!

I had a lot of weight to lose.
It took me 9 months to lose 75 lbs and get into Onederland.
It took me 15 months to lose 100 lbs.
It took me 20 months to lose 114 lbs and hit my goal weight.

Average loss was 1.5 lbs per week for 80 weeks.

I've been in maintenance since December 2005...no regain....and dropped a few more. But I have not gone back to my old way of eating.

The program works if you work the program. I wouldn't look for a quick fix. The first two weeks is Phase 1 and you will detox your body, and your weight loss will be quicker during this phase. When you move into Phase 2, the loss can slow down, but if you are in this for the long haul, the slower the loss, the more apt you are to keep it off.

SB is truly a way of eating FOR LIFE. If you don't have the book, get it, read it and follow it. Don't tweak, don't cheat. It is a great program!

I agree with Radmom, although I certainly want to take off my excess weight as quickly as I can (who wouldn't?? ) I started this WoE for the long term health benefits. I do not want to be a one-hit wonder!!

So while I have lost 30.5 lbs in the last 6 months (and have 12.5 lbs to go), I have not felt deprived or like I'm on a diet since I stopped Phase 1.

I don't miss the sugar at all (no "real" dessert since New Year's Eve!) I do confess that I miss pizza, but if that's the price I pay to look and feel healthy, so be it. And like the book says, if you do indulge in a slice of pizza, it won't kill you. Just get back on program as quickly as possible.

Do you think there would be a noticable detox if you were switching from Atkins (30g or less carbs) to SB?

Or even an initial weight gain?

hey gud--I am switching from Atkins to SB--I recommend doing phase 1 completely--adding beans and dairy is enough of a jump in carbs--I decided against weighing myself for the two weeks, but I not noticing my clothes getting any tighter if that is any consolation--I am liking the variety in foods as well--

I did SBD to the letter, Curves three times a week and walked about 4 miles 5-6 days a week. I lost about 50pds in about 6 months. This was back in 2006. I've gained about 15 of it back and am now back down 6pds. SBD is a way better way for me to eat. It's easier to cook for my family. Much wider variety of foods. Planning is the key to everything. Have the "good" foods in your house. Write down what you eat, it really helps to see it on paper.

Well, so far...12lbs and I have two more days before I hit a full two weeks, plus my period started this morning.

I know from the last time that I did this, it will drop to about 2 pounds per week (for me) once I go to Phase 2.

I use Fit Day to track what I eat. I'm not a big eater. My issue has always been what I eat, not how much. Even at my best I tend to be somewhere between 1100 and 1200 calories per day. That's doing snacks and everything. Because I end up without cravings and my hunger decreases on South Beach, if I don't watch it, I end up under 1000.

I'm also using a liquid vitamin supplement. 175 vitamins, minerals, Co Q10, Omega 3, anti-oxidants etc. I'm liking it so much, I think we may buy the franchise in our area.

Fit Day--what's that?

I'm on Day 6 and I'm finding the same thing as far as hunger. I still like sweets, but I think its more psychological than physical hunger.

Fit day is a food and exercise and goal tracking program. It's free. You can enter what you eat (not always easy but I don't stress out on minor differences). You can enter your exercise... it will tell you how many calories, how much fat, how much protein and how many carbs you ate.....and what you have worked off by exercises and just by living. I've used it off and on for years. It takes getting used to but it can very helpful in monitoring your process and give you an idea of what your eating...
