new here but not to SB
Hello- new guy here - not new to south beach.
I have been reading this forum and you all seem very helpful and kind so I thought I would post. I lost on south beach when it first came out now I have gained it all back. Why is this such a common story? I have read every diet book out there and I even know the ones that are coming out... very sad. I am now on a statin and would like to lose about 40 lbs. I am at 228, 6"1' - so around a weight of 190 is my goal. My physician was no help- all he said was we all gain as So, I am walking again on my treadmill and I need to get the weights out. Summer is upon us!! I have been reading your reviews of the new book, sounds like the verdsict is to get it- correct? I have to agree with some of you that the non-fat stuff is scary - I try to eat as clean and simple as possible- farmers markets in the summer make that easier. One common question about Splenda, is it worth using or does it freak you out- better to use a little of the real stuff or agave nectar ?- dessert is my downfall! Thanks for any help you can send my way. Best-Greg |

Seriously, I would spend the money for the new book. It has new research in it and explains things in a much clearer way. The food lists are more extensive. Dr. A answers the most frequently asked questions himself. It's a good buy. Check in with us on the check in thread. ![]()

Thanks for the reply. Do you know of anyone on this board who had a big improvement in their heart health with south beach- especially men? That is my primary reason for doing it - heart health and weight loss.
I figure you have been around here awhile and probably know a few things/people. Thanks! |

Definitely! My own DH is one. Remember that SB was designed as a heart healthy way of life, not for weight loss. Losing weight was a wonderful side effect.

Hello!!!!
IDK about the slenda thing. I just started low carbing in the beg. of may. I haven't really lost anything(2 pounds) I'm actually starting over clean today. I'm not using anymore splenda I want to, but i learned that it could be the cause of me losing little weight. I would agree with what was mentioned before me. STAY NATURAL!!! I learned the hard way, splenda just makes me feel like i need something sweet all the time. That isn't fun So , hopefully soon my taste buds will realize that i don't need the sweet taste. Wish i would've done that first go.![]() Last edited by ollamo : 05-31-2008 at 06:02 AM. |
