Truly, South Beach should be a snap for you. It to your advantage to not have access to a lot of the products; you won't be tempted to eat a lot of extraneous junk.
If you fill your plate with fresh, wholesome foods, you can't help but be successful. I prefer to think in terms of 5-6 mini meals. Breakfast should be protein and some vegetables. Your first snack should be a small amount of protein and some vegetables. And on through the day. A lot of "foods", like sugar free jello as an example, are not real foods and are worthless for health building purposes. Better for you if you don't have access to that kind of thing. Base your meal plan on lean protein, fresh whole vegetables and fruits, whole grains, nuts, olive oil and some dairy products. If you can't get low fat dairy, then use what you have. Your food ideas look fine so far, but remember to ALWAYS have a protein serving at every snack or meal. Look around you at the market and buy all the lovely fresh foods that are available to you. Do phase 1 for two weeks and then move into phase 2, adding in fruits and whole grains. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you need to. ![]()

Hi Rasmus,
I think what Rose has told you is spot on. I can't get a lot of the things people talk about, either (I live in Spain), and at first I thought it was a huge disadvantage, but now I think it's kind of a good thing. I've done well basically with salads (I usually have a big salad every day, with an olive-oil based dressing) and other veggies, grilled or broiled meat or fish, nuts, cheese (reduced fat if I can get it, regular if not), ff yogurt and fresh cheese, tuna and eggs. One of the keys for me is breakfast; I think having the protein gets me off to a good start for the day and keeps hunger away (I love eggs and now have one every morning, and I was very relieved to see a couple weeks ago that this change hasn't affected my cholesterol one bit). Three things I like to break up the monotony of the daily salad: roasted veggies, minestrone soup and chili. If you need recipes, let me know. Good luck! ![]()
