P2 Serious Question
As you all know, I've been up and down with this diet, and after having a good P1 week, I'm looking to get into P2 maybe before the 2 weeks is up because I've been up and down on P1 since January.
My question is: I've restricted my carb intake 85% of that time, and when I do consume (normally something extremely unhealthy being fair) I've gained considerably, and quickly. But when I hit P2, given that amount of time I've restricted, will adding back the carbs actually make me put on weight? Even if they're good carbs? I'm absolutely dreading it! With P2 I notice that it involves a lot of low GI foods, which I'm completely up to speed with because that's how I lost considerably last time (doing the GI diet) just after Christmas I decided to try South Beach as I'd become massively bored with low GI foods. |

I was scared about starting P2, too, and I was up and down for a couple weeks after starting it, but I stuck with it and then the weight started coming off again, so don't worry. Add your (good!) carbs back in slowly. I started with 1 fruit a day for the first week, then the second week added 1 grain most days, not every day, 3rd week another fruit...and I've really never gone beyond that because I've been quite happy right there.

biscuit - Have you been eating beans during phase 1? Those have good carbs. I'd do like luisa said and start slowing add a fruit for a week. Then add a grain for a week. A lot of us have kinda stuck w/1 fruit and one grain a day just because we've got a way to go to meet our weight loss goals. My plan once I get closer to goal is to try to add 2 fruits a day and 2 grains a day up to the 3 a day of each the book recommends. Good Luck!

I didn't gain when I went to phase 2, but I did the plan by the book, with no side trips. I have to say that if I stray big time, like at Christmas, I do gain several pounds quickly, and it doesn't come right off, either. Therefore, I have learned my lesson and don't go way off plan.
I have experienced pound creep lately and am back to phase 1 for a week or so. |
