Cool! My Dad is a major fan of the Derby and all thoroughbred related events. Nice!

Morning SBD'ers. Day 10 on Phase 1 for me. I restarted after gaining weight from my original loss in 2004 and my recent gain since November 2007. Today I woke up with cravings. So much it made me jump out of bed Sometimes it's really tough. I don't know why I'm having the withdrawal symptoms still. Very frustrating. I am motivated since I'm losing weight, but yet, sometimes I feel panic attacks coming on for lack of eating all my usual carb overload. HELP! Any secrets or motivation would be greatly appreciated

Time to make coffee and breakfast. Here's the menu for today so far.
B: 2 eggs, 2 turkey sausage links, decaf, equal, and coffee-mate
S: string cheese
L: boca burger, mustard, steamed veggies, salsa
S: almonds
D: eating out with co-workers (sticking to grilled fish, veggies, salad, iced tea--God help me)

OK, need to make/eat breakfast and get ready for work.
Good luck everyone. Great job everyone!

TTFN,
Susan

Susan: another thing I do when I crave sweets is chew a lot of gum. I actually buy pretty much every flavor, and chew what I am in the mood for. It might sound crazy, but it works for me. And when the flavor runs out and I am still craving sugar, I chew another piece.

hello friends!!

it has been a few days since i have been able to post, our computer has had a few problems, but now, we are up and running!!!

so, i have discovered a few things about myself since i have last posted......i had been asking on wether or not to continue with phase one after the 14 day mark, many of you advised to continue on to p2. i understand why!!! i did an extra week of p1 and on sunday, i ended up eating foods that i shouldnt have eaten. that led to two more days of eating some high sugar foods, usually in the evening,( i stayed OP until later in the day) i just think it was important for me to continue on with adding new foods into my diet, and because i didnt, i ended up going over board. NOW I KNOW BETTER!! (this is how i reacted to it, it may be completely different for others) i am back to p1 AGAIN, due to the fact of my three high sugar days....i will promptly switch to p2 when the time is right, gotta curb those sugar cravings once more!

second thing, i dont know about anyone else, but i have a hard time controlling the amounts of lite cool whip i consume!!! i mix it with anp, and i can eat massive amounts of that....and thats somthing that is sooo easy to rationalize.....its OP, its not high in sugar etc.

anyways, glad to be back, just wanted to pop in and say hey! i will check back with ya all later!

I think it's wonderful that you have discovered this for yourself. Sometimes that's necessary.

As for Cool Whip. I go on a rant about this periodically. I know that it is listed as an acceptable food. BUT, if you read the label, it has trans fats and other ingredients that are not acceptable, so I have a hard time seeing how it is justified. The new book says over and over--NO TRANSFATS!

(I think) the thinking is that a person will have a tablespoon now and then. But the recipes I see here use large quantities and people are eating it every day. Truly, real whipped cream would be better for you in reasonable amounts. You're so right--it's easy to rationalize. Anyway, I guess that's my mini rant.

Vivi! Missed ya! Glad your computer is fixed.
I made the same mistake with Phase 1 last year when I first started. Tried doing it for 3 weeks, which was toooooooooooo long. I don't eat the sf cool whip that often, but Rose makes great points about it, huh?

Today's Eats:
B: 2 scrambled eggs, plain yogurt, stevia, slivered almonds
S: string cheese
L: salad w/chick peas, cuke, olives, tomato, dressing
S: 15 almonds, Dunkins' decaf coffee w/milk and splenda
D: chef salad w/ham, turkey, turkey bacon, swiss and veggies
S: SB NPB Cup

Thanks Leah. I heard that on the show "Biggest Loser," to chew sugarfree gum in a yummy flavor when you get a sugar craving. I'll try it. Good idea!

Rose--I hear you on the Cool Whip. I bought the Cool Whip Free stuff, but you're right it has high fructose corn syrup which is a major no-no, so it contradicts itself. One thing I did notice is the other night when I had trouble falling asleep due to a sugar craving, I had 2 TBSP of Cool Whip Free and it killed the craving dead on the spot and it made me SLEEPY. Definitely the sugar I say! I don't know. Since, I've decided I better not eat too much, I think it's not helping my cravings

Viv--great job on the food today!

Vivi--I have the SAME problem. I swear I am sugar intolerant. I swell up too, like I'm 6 months pregnant. No exaggeration. Sorry about the liquid diet. Hang in there. BTW, Dunkin' coffee is awesome. I buy it at Target, since it's cheaper than at DD, unless they're having a special.

Dani--great menu!

Thanks for all the support and great tips!

Good morning. I weighed in at 160.2 this morning, which is still 3 lbs to go til I get to where I was before I messed up. I hope I never gain like that again. I keep telling myself "think of how much you would weigh now if you hadn't eated all of that junk." Oh well. I hope to be at at least 155 by the end of phase 1. I still have 10 more days to go, so I don't see why I can't make my goal. I wish I could be at 150 by Memorial Day weekend. We are going to the beach.

My menu for today:

B: 2 boiled eggs, LS V8
S: celery with 1 wedge Lauging Cow cheese
L: taco soup, large salad with ceasar dressing
S: string cheese
D: same as lunch

Hey all. Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was home sick with head, stomach and everything else aching plus TOM started so I was pretty much couch bound all day. We had a guy here tiling our bathroom and the pounding was hard to take!

Today was busy at school with all the Derby activities. There was a walkathon this morning so I had completed my 10,000 steps before lunch time! DS came home from college today. Tomorrow I am off because the horse race that all the local people go to called the Oaks is tomorrow. There aren't enough substitutes for all the people who want off so the schools are closed.

Menu for today:
B - whey protein shake (in a hurry and this was portable)
S - string cheese
L - salad
S - 15 almonds
D - leftover turkey chili
S - SF fudgcicle or flavored coffee

I am really enjoying the new SB Supercharged book. I am not very far into it because I have jumped around but hope to get a lot of reading done tomorrow, preferably sitting out on the deck if it is nice!

Have a great night everyone and KUTGW (keep up the great work).

Mary

Good morning everyone. I weighed in at 158.8 . Just 1.8 lbs til lowest on SB. I hope this will motivate me to stay OP over the weekend.

My menu for today:

B: 2 boiled eggs, LS V8
S: celery and laughing cow cheese
L: taco soup, broccoli (bleh, that's the only veggie I have right now)
S: string cheese
D: probably a frozen SB dinner. I know it's not the best choice, but I need to go to the store.

Mary: hope you feel better

Dani:

TGIF!!

I had to go to the doctor's after work. I've had a small cold for the past 2 weeks and yesterday it seemed to get worse, was spitting up green phlegm. Turns out I have a sinus infection. Fun fun. I'm on amoxicilin for 10 days to clear it up. Nurse weighed me as 161, so I'm down a little bit. So far I've lost 3 lbs. this week. I'd love to lose another pound before Monday, since that will complete 2 weeks back on Phase 1. Then I'm going to move to Phase 1.5.

I am going to have dinner in a little bit and then will work out with my new pilates ring. The DVD is 40 min. long.

Have a great OP night!

CONGRATS LEAH!!

Today's Eats:
B: yogurt, stevia, almonds
S: string cheese
L: salad w/grilled chicken
S: 1 T. NPB
D: chili w/cheddar and sour cream
S: NSA Fudgesicle
